I like how you explain the psyche of the purifier and defiler angels.

I think to give the same unstability to both purifier or defiler angels. If a purifier is turn to a defiler after she seek a out and cleanse a powerfull darkness-based being, so it can be true to a defiler except is a powerfull light based entity too.

And make them both very unstable type of angel in general Laughing

Simple question, since my guy uses both light and dark. If he was eaten by either one or te other, would it be only his ability to use light or dark that would disappear?

Not entirely sure.

My best guess, based on what we know about them and the fact that their concept hinges on purifying one and transforming it into the other...

Your character's darkness would be purged, and he would lose his darkness abilities- however, his light abilities would probably significantly increase. And vice-versa, if it was a Defiler Angel who got ahold of him.

That's just speculation on my part, however; it makes sense, but may not necessarily be what happens. Smile

He may very well die, but I think the fact that he already counts as being aligned with that Angel's nature (Darkness or Light) would trump the being reincarnated as a creature of the opposite nature. He doesn't need to die and be revived as a Light-aligned being, because he is already a Light-aligned being... who just happens to also be Darkness-aligned as well.
