I particularly like the mutable bottom half they have. |
Thanks. And yeah, I agree that quite a bit of redundant material probably needs to be cut, but I do have a tendency to include too much detail, rather that too little. I'll see about drafting up a more concise version some time.

Yeah, I was actually going for a more 'basic' feel with this, sort of a foundation from which the more exotic types can deviate. Not sure that I agree that their abilities should be common to every type of water elemental, though.
| gwadahunter2222 wrote: | | Any water elementals or creatures with a liquid bodies can do that or alter completely their shape due to the liquid nature of their body. At the base a liquid is shapeless. |
Hmmm, if that's true, then I've seriously misunderstood how elementals work.

I took this bit of information from the wiki to imply that even liquid-based elementals were not 100% malleable, due to the presence of actual (though magical) organs, and the amount of time necessary to form them from the base element. Way more flexible that a flesh and blood creature; sure. But not just moving, intelligent water. Of course, I suppose that could be outdated information, or I could even be misinterpreting it completely. It's true they're not just moving water due to the fact they have inner organs made of water as a stomach which give a complex architecture of the body but they are still 100% malleable because they are pure liquid and have no solid skeletons or parts which can give them a constant physical shape, their inner organs which are made with the same base element can naturally move or be deformed inside their body to adapt to any change of shape of the body.
A elemental use magic to form its body with an element including its organs, they are not made in a different way than the rest of the body. _________________ I can call the snows, and wind, and lightning. It's two different cases, a water elemental and an air elemental doesn't possess the same physical properties.
gas and solid can be compressed contrary to liquid, so an air elemental can have a constant shape by compressing the ambiant air contrary to water elemental. And contrary to the others elementals, and elemental with a liquid body are the more vulerable the gravity which make their shapes can't be difficultly maintain by itself. So if an elemental wants a definitive shape its has to fill a "mold" to maintain its body compressed or move constantly the water inside their body to lower the acttion of the gravity. that's why some elemental outside water looks-like living whirlpool. _________________ I can call the snows, and wind, and lightning. | A lightning elemental StrobestriderIn such places as the Great Rocky Fields, where the electricity in the air can make your hair stand on-end, spirits wait for great lightning storms, and inhabit the discharging energy, capturing it and sustaining it to form a body. One such variant is a strobestrider, an electricity elemental. They can be seen 'walking' over the Great Rocky Fields most actively when the air is brimming with storm activity. They typically possess a mostly-humanoid form, their bodies flickering continuously. Instead of legs, their lower half is somewhat of a roiling ball of electricity similar to ball lightning. They use electromagnetism to continuously levitate, while they constantly discharge small static bolts to the ground. Because of this, it seems as if these are 'legs' which they stride along the ground with. It is thought that they are so adept at drawing a charge out of their surrounding atmosphere to sustain their bodies that they have a charge balance problem, thus the necessary small discharges. Because of their crackling and bright forms, one can tell they're approaching just as surely as a lightning storm. Getting close to a strobestrider can cause your hair to stand on-end, and one can find themselves being zapped with static bolts from their underside as well. They can prevent this of course, and have been known to become embarrassed if they accidentally shock someone. If they don't wish to shock you, you don't have to worry, though they can't really do much about your hair standing on-end. With great magic and electricity at their disposal, they make quite scary predators- one might find bolts of electricity strike all around them, quickly trapped, or they could suddenly have a powerful electromagnetic charge build around them until they're flailing around in mid-air. It's notable that strobestriders have been known to stick someone to an object with powerful static instead of eating them if they feel they've somehow been wronged. Common company of storm sprites and blue sphinxes. --- Just my take on a possible electricity elemental, figured it could do to make something a little different than the storm sprites. |

| Hey it's been a long time since i was on here Well i was looking on this thread and it started to make me think so.... i thought of something for the Earth section Diamants Diamants are generous souls that inhabit diamonds. They are composed by 60% diamonds, 20% of different minerals, 14% rock and 6% plants. They are very rare to see in heavily dense forests, their prime locations are “Pyrale Mountains”, “Great rocky fields” and “Akaptor desert”. Diamants have no facial features at all on their head, just a mouth which resembles a cave. This small cavity is used as a highly sensitive ear, similar to the supersonic hearing in a bat. They use this to see as well as hear everything in the area. As a sub-class of an Earth Elemental, Diamants have significant healing magic discharging from their bodies in a faint glow when their healing. This glow intensifies in brightness whenever its diamond body gains a crack or chipped. The regenerative abilities are mostly used when the rock minority of the body has been eroded to crumbling point, at which it searches for rocks to replace the missing part. Currently the diamond majority of the Diamant can be formed into three different types, the one you’ll recognize easily is the “Clear Diamond”, the second type will be the “Boron Diamond”, the result of the addition of boron in its make-up gives the diamond a deep blue colour, when exposed in long periods of sunlight the boron makes the body glows in a blood red colour when it turns nights or passes through shade. The last type is the “Black Diamond” this is not a single piece of diamond but millions of tiny diamonds fused together from the result of high heat and low pressure, this form of fusion makes the diamond impossible to cut or crushed, only the most extreme fire magic can ever hope in damaging it. i still think it need to be flesh out so make any suggestions if you can |

 | Subject: Aeris Fri Aug 21, 2009 10:42 pm | |
| Brizzs AerisFrom the latin word aeris meaning air. A spirit envoloped in a channel of wind. As the air rotates it produces a light current. By increasing spin the body becomes dense and gains pressure. The increase grants them interaction with matter while a gentle breeze allows movement that passes through or around material. Increasing the flow draws in wind, stronger channels add to their mass and allow an Aeris to grow in size. A swifter breeze produces a veil around the spirit, ranging from blocking tornados to cutting winds. In ancient lore Aeris are Brizzs, elementals that uncousiously adapted to control the wind that surrounded them. Their apperance often diverges from women. It's believed that the first was a young woman and that her influence was so great that a portion of her soul would poccess all that followed in her stead. Till this day her spirit grows lulling all brizzs into her grasp, that any creature similar would continue to evolve until she took over their mind, body, and soul completely. It's unknown wheither she truly was or stlil exists however as caution all races should keep guard as the myth states Aeris aren't the only creatures drawn to her being. A research states that as an Aeris eats a dimension is opened and the prey is lead into stomach of that creature very soul. (An idea for air elementals I had. Since one already existed however I worked on a main sub race. Though if it were okay with the original author I wouldn't mind combining the two.) So what does everyone think, I want some feedback. (For the dimension research(er) I am open to applying it with character's from Felarya if someone has an idea. Perhaps Lady Lesona or one of the bar people. Might create my own if nothing.) |

| Sala- A fire elemental in the shape of a large lizard. A few Neko tribes have said that Sala seem to be guarding areas where younger elementals grow. They appear to come in two types: Red and blue. Red Sala appear to be more...mellow. They won't attack unless they are provoked. Blues are much rarer, larger, and far more aggressive, even going so far as to attack anything that comes close to it's nest. Salas prefer rocky areas, and while it is not known as to their diet, some rumors suggest both kinds can consume prey up to 10 feet high, and Blue Salas will even stand up to Kensha Beasts and Nagas. This is my first draft, and I'm not 100% on this yet. _________________ Many claim they wish to destroy their enemies. Hmm... Well we have the Salamander as fauna at the moment. Not to say having an elemental with the same base is bad, you've included qualities that differentiate them. A change in name may be in order, however. |

| Mud Elementals - A group of elementals that inhabit the Great Marshes. Mud Elementals can take any form they want, often appearing as giantesses when they want to confront someone. However, this is something they rarely do. Mud Elementals aren't very aggressive or voracious, but they are playful to the point of being a danger to smaller races. They enjoy laying as a large section of a swamp, changing the paths to confuse travelers, sucking them in to get them stuck, or tripping them and causing them to fall. They find this absolutely hilarious and one sign it's a Mud Elemental tormenting you is a bubbly laugh that has no seen origin. Confronting one is a tricky situation. If you ignore them, they'll just continue to mess with you until you leave the swamp or their actions end up getting you drowned or eaten. But if you confront them, they will not hesitate to eliminate as a minor nuisance you by sucking you into the swamp - while they don't need to, they will and can digest small prey. The best way is to offer some other form of entertainment more amusing then yourself. Or you could give absolutely no reaction and hope they get bored. Mud Elementals are lazy and don't move much from their home, but they rarely actually sleep. Even at night they torment travelers, summoning pockets of gas that alight and form eerie glowing lights, which further confuse and frighten people. They are really friendly if you get past their irritating personality and they like helping friends - they can help a small prey friend move through the swamp safely, or keep adventurers stuck for a predator friend to pick up later for a snack. _________________ "Out yonder, under the shining vault, among men the saying goes: “Man, be thyself!” At home here with us, ’mid the tribe of the trolls, the saying goes: “Troll, to thyself be—enough!”"

I would reccomend incuding some lore. The name is fine but it could be more varied in the subcatgeories. Also as an element they are fine but I wonder how do they survive, you haven't mentioned if they eat so I am thinking more the impenertable type. Add some description for their appearance. I know they are faceless but is their anything I can relate them to.

As the previous suggested a name change might help make them more distinct. If you have the time then I would suggest making a note of the existing Salamaders. Other than that there isn't much to say, define what they eat or give some lore to expand on the section. (Yes I am a lore fan.) Maybe mention more about their elemental abilities.

Looks good to me you definded place, prey and abilities. The only reccomendations I have is working with the naming, maybe something that expresses swamp. Also I suggest creating sub categories since there are a variety of underground swamps or maybe that could be used for the name. And for the finale add some lore buwhahahaha |

| Some more great ideas here, I love this thread XD I epsecially like those mud elementals, though I agree they could use another name. It's especially this teasing and the dilemna that occurs from it that I find interesting |
