Why go to Felarya? Why take the risks? The danger? The vore?

Well the last one is a reason and a deterrent. But the main reason people come is for the riches available! (That and the whole, immortal life without disease thing, but hey! Material possessions play a part too) But other than Ascarlin, and diamonds, and things like that, surely there are more riches to obtain that doesn't involve mining and getting Black Lung. (Coincidentally, nothing in Felarya involves catching the Black Lung. See before mentioned no disease thing)

But really, what kind of magical tidbits, and great treasures are found around Felarya? What's kept in the temples and dungeons? So, I invite you all to devise lost treasures and artifacts of power and wealth. Anything from magical rods that shoot jets of flame, to the infamous The Hat of Long And Clearly Pointless Names That Could've Been Summed Up In Two Words (Which has the amazing effect of making you overly pretentious).

So, get to it.

Mage Bane: This enchanted Halberd had led to the death of many mages over the centuries of its existence; at least, the centuries of use. Originally created for a Tribal Chieftain to protect him from rival clan's shamans, this Polearm has been lost constantly to various Predator Species of Felarya.

The Halberd, and its user, is capable of absorbing enormous amounts of magical energy from the air around it. In the same act unnatural strength if given to the wielder, along with a capability to 'discharge' any stored magic (Never to the harm of the bearer) in a crackling purple globe of energy. Obviously, the Magic-Soaked Nature of Felarya means the Halberd is almost constantly useful in the later category, while the former is quite helpful in most encounters.

This usefulness against mages has not gone unknown against Predators, specifically those of non-Magical capabilities. Quite often when a Predator comes across the wielder of this weapon, they work it into some form of jewelry to protect themselves against hostile mages and rivals. With this benefit, many Predator's have lived much longer lives than would be expected (or hoped by the local demi-human populace).

Currently, there have been no known instances of Mage Bane being 'full', though several spontaneous 'Discharges' recorded in its existence would suggest that the reason for such is a unique system for homeostasis.

As a fun fact: Only once has Mage Bane been recovered by a non-thief Demi-Human from a Predator. This was less of a 'recovery' and more of a gifting as a mark of friendship.

The Amulet of Rage-narok-

This baby is very powerful. It lies deep within a dungeon to the south in the swamps. Nobody has recovered it yet, but many try to get it.

Funny enough, it's power is based on one's anger. If you have a hissy fit, expect to shoot alot of power out of your hands. If you are incredibly vengeful, expect entire cities to fall to you.

If Anna manages to find this object... well, kiss your butt, and all of the universe, goodbye.

Ring of Midas Touch: This artifact is capable of bestowing great wealth onto an individual. While the bearer of the ring wears it, any solid that the bearer touches with their ringed finger will slowly turn to gold. This process expands in radius by roughly 1in/s. As such, the bearer can choose how much of an object is turned.

This comes at a price, though. Beyond magical aid and actual removal of the finger in question, the ring may not be removed. Similarly, while the bearer can control how much of the object is changed by varying the time of contact, contact will inevitably shift some matter to gold regardless of contact time. An accidental rubbing of the eye could leave one blinded, an accidental scratch golden streaks along the body, etc.

I sort of see there being less artifacts than one might expect, seeing as a majority of the species there have their mouths, and thus need no other weapons... But maybe that's just me.

Humans have been stated to be lured by artifacts. Considering that enough people have left Felarya with said artifacts to cause more to flock there, odds are there's a real fething lot of 'em.

And magical artifacts useful against natural beings of non-*Insert species name* origin would seem a likely development. Like a pair of socks that makes the wearer invisible in every way (Sense, sight, smell, sixth sense, etc) to anything larger than nine feet in height, for instance.

Wasn't something like this made before?...bah I'm half senile so I wouldn't know...anyways ...

Dante's Calculus

-A Calculator that holds the power to unleash misery unto it's victims, said to have come from earth it was infused with a dark magic to make it more powerful, but the spell back fired and now the calculator is cursed for an eternity. It's power lies within it's own ability to solve mathmatical problems, each time the user solves a math problem, the resulting answer will unleash the same amount of misfortune on a random set of individuals. For example, if you plug in 5+4 you'll get 9, however instantly after you receive your answer, 9 individual people will suffer a stroke of bad luck (be it a simple fall...or even death).

Dante's Calculus cannot be destroyed by normal means and never runs out of battery power. Also the user must form a 'contract' with the calculator in order to use it, said agreement requiers the user soul be damned, meaning the minute you use this your going straight to hell when you die. This 'contract' screws the user over the minute they even agree to use the cursed device, being the effects of the relic are random and there's no telling if you may die from it's random effects of sorrow. Dante's Calculus is said to be located within a sunken building in the Carcassed Garden. The structure has the words 'W37c0m3 T0 H377' painted all over it's walls, both inside and out.

Blade of the Covenant

This sword isn't just a weapon, but an icon of an alliance between inhabitants of the physical world with those of the world adjacent. The Tenebris war wasn't the only interdimensional conflict that spilled into the physical world, and since ancient times the angels have recruited a few worthy humans to borrow their power to fight the demons and succubi. The famous Ark of the Covenant was the icon of the first of these alliances, and the blade could well be the last. Anyone who proves himself worthy to possess one of these icons will not only be able to make use of the heaven's power, but will also be able to direct the wrath of the angels.

Taking control of one of these items is a feat in and of itself. The icons themselves have some level of sentience (actually its more of a spiritual link to the angels presiding over the icon in particular) but at any rate any being that comes in contact with the icon can be judged for worthiness. We've all heard the stories of the horrible things that happen to those that fail these tests (or if you haven't, watch Indiana Jones and the raiders of the lost ark). But more than that, these icons are extremely rare (the ark and the blade may be the only two in existence), well hidden, and thoroughly guarded. With the Tenebris ceasefire in effect the angels made sure to seal the icons away so that their power could not be abused, even by those who pass the tests. But at least one might remain for those willing to seek it.

Just a question;

I know this would've come up sooner or later, but what happens if you use Dante's Calculus to divide by zero?

This one is kinda silly. But hey, in an infinate multiverse, there are bound to be quite a few silly people.

The Hat of Eternal Life

A hat made by Madison Hatter. Madison was an apprentice to the Master Hatsmith Thomas Warding. Warding was famous for his hats which had titles that sounded grandiose, but did not provide any enhancing effect. Madison created ten of these hats, and sold them to knights who wore them into battle and praised them highly. Thinking their hat protected the bearer from death, they were far too reckless and all ten of them died very quickly. This single event was enough to force Madison Hatter into a life of poverty.

Coin of Power

This powerful coin is roughly two inches in diameter and sculpted from what appears to be gold. Inscribed on either side, however, is a portrait of a ferocious beast. The nature of this beast varies from coin to coin, but is always relative to its environment. IE: If found underwater, it might sport the image of a volasaurus, while one found in the jungle would be more likely to depic a kensha beast or a tonorion.

In order to use the coin, the user must hold it out before them with both hands and scream the name of the animal in a loud, dramatic voice.
Once this is done, they will find themselves transformed into a giant, mechanical version of the depicted beast. Size varies from coin to coin, but one holder of a stormseeker power coin found themselves twice the size of a jet fighter, while a tonorion user's length rivalled the height of a dryad.
The capabilities of this form are essentially the same as those of the animal depicted, but huge and mechanical. Explosive or incindiary weapons are almost invariable.

These coins are believed to have been crafted by a group of dryads out of boredom. When asked about them, several dryads were well aware of the coins and were able to inform that only six were ever created. Many also adressed a rumor that if five holders were ever brought together, they would merge into a much more terrifying mechanical beast. This has yet to be proven, of course.

I already posted one of these in this thread over here, but I figure there's no harm in posting it again, as this thread is more relevant to them.

Blade of the Scholar: These scimitars are actually rather plentiful in some areas where Trejal is held in high regard. Originally given to the direct followers of the Naga guardian, they allow their wielders to cast arcane spells without magical blood or magical training. Partially intelligent on it's own, the blade will plant the knowledge of up to three spells in the mind of it's wielder each night. If the wielder has need of any of these spells, the gems in the hilt provide the energy to cast it at least once. Each night, the old spells leave the wielder's memories and are replaced with new ones. The blade is smart enough to anticipate the needs of the wielder to a slight degree, and will try to grant spells that are useful.

Over time, these blades gain their own personality reflected in the dreamscapes they choose to educate their owners and the form they choose to appear as in those dreams. Although they are always useful and prised, some Blades of the Scholar are truly nightmarish.

---

Townslayer: The individual enchantments on this blade are actually rather simple, though the combination of them give these blades some amazing destructive potential. The first Townslayer was made by a mad genius, though it has been successfully copied several times with slightly inferior results these copies are called tankslayers (or knightslayers if they're especially weak). When one of these blades hits a non-living object, it will cleanly cut through the object and dispel any magic on it immediately. Where lesser copies of it can only manage to cut through weapons and armor, the origional Townslayer is so powerful that it cleaves entire buildings with the merest scratch. It was said that the blade was used to single-handedly conquer a nation before it's user was banished to Felarya where he was swiftly eaten by a naga.

Note that the blade may as well be mundane when used against any living thing, and as such is much less useful in Felarya, where even peasant huts are usually covered in live moss, disrupting the blade's magic. It is still insanely useful against any technologically advanced foe, and its current owner keeps it hidden in case of such a foe attacking.

---

Lance of the Serpent: Despite this weapon's name, it is neither a lance, nor is it used by a naga. The Lance of the Serpent is actually a thick, heavy blade that has a wave-like taper to it and a very long hilt, almost longer than the length of the blade. The name 'lance' is derived from how it is often wielded. With the user carrying it under one arm and charging at their enemy. Once per day, the blade can emit a massive blast of force which often leaves a long path of destruction. It is entirely possible to survive this blast as it hits like a blunt force rather than a burning energy. Nonetheless, the power of this blade is devastating against a military formation, and has been coveted by members of many species.

Another power of the blade is to grant amazing tactical knowledge to its wielder, along with a severe amplification of ambition, often inspiring leaders to war as soon as they lay their hands on it. Some say the blade is amazingly intelligent, wanting to see as many places and as many battles as possible. It will even call thieves from far away to take the blade from it's owner once that owners ambitions become satisfied.

---

Blade of Unity: This regal looking single edged zweihander has a mace head at the end of its hilt and a guard fashioned to look like a cobra. Like the blade of the Sage, the Blade of unity is fully intelligent and visits its owner in dreams. Though rather than imparting magical knowledge, the Blade of Unity imparts important details about everything important that has recently happened in the area, the extrasensory abilities of the blade are nearly boundless, though its intelligence is interested in nothing other than justice and political stability. Unlike the Blade of the Scholar, the Blade of Unity is unique and always appears as one form, a clean cut and well dressed man of the wielder's species with an air of military professionalism. When there is nothing or very little to report, the blade gives its owner lessons in leadership and strategy.

The Blade of Unity was originally made by a scion of Trejal for a human friend and one of the last leaders of Ur-Sagol. Since the fall of that city, the blade has changed hands from dridder to deertaur to fairy and finally to a Naga leader. Since then the blade has been passed down from father to strongest son for five generations. Unlike the Lance of the Serpent, the Blade of Unity hates to be stolen, and will report potential thieves immediately.

From left to right, Blade of the Scholar, Townslayer, Lance of the Serpent, Blade of Unity

This is all good.
Very good in fact. I especially like the Coin of Power. XD Seems oddly familiar for some reason.

But I forgot to mention. It doesn't all have to be magical things. Some may be lost technologies. Advanced, non-magical civilizations met their end in Felarya too, and breached science labs, long since overtaken by jungle, can hold fantastical inventions with magnificent effects.
Though they apparantly didn't do much for their creators.
