Willow Dryad Empty
PostSubject: Willow Dryad   Willow Dryad Icon_minitimeMon Apr 27, 2009 2:39 am

Okay, working on my new story line I came up with a new Dryad concept: The Willow Dryad

Adult hight:
Humanoid: 5-12', they are very small, and never get big and are well... very skinny, though in this form, they have legs and can walk around.
Tree form: 30-60', in this form they are simply that a very big (from a human perspective) willow tree.
Human/tree hybrid: 10-25', in this form they look more like a very small, very skinny dryad.

Hair: Translucent/white and supper soft, typically fairly short.
Skin: Human parts have a yellow/white slick, sometimes slightly wet, look to them (they are wet actually with a small amount of sap when they first transform).
Eyes: any collar
Special: The branches of a Willow Dryad will have white pussy willows buds in them as well as leaves, this is a small tell that lets some one who knows that their is something different about the tree, a Willow Dryad CAN retract them, but it takes a small amount of concentration. In addition, all Willow Dryads are shape shifts; they have 3 standard forms, Humanoid, which lets them get up and move, their standard tree form they rest in and eat sunlight with, and their hybrid form they usually take when they want to talk or eat; in addition they can mimic human, elven, or neco women for short periods of time and can even change their sent.

Strengths and Weakness: In addition to their shape-shifting powers and their ability to form bonds like other Dryads Willow Dryads have a few special strengths and weakness.
A: they hare extremely regenerative, if you don't manage to kill it, which is much harder than it sounds, they will recover, even if its only from their roots.
B: they are physically week, why not TRULY weak, compared to a normal Dryad they sure are.
C: they can't eat big things, congratulations humans, something NOT out to eat you.
D: They can sense and take over magical effects that are near them.... somewhat. An extraordinary ability to be sure, but much more limited than it sounds. While they can since just about any from of magic for hundreds of feet, their ability to effect it is more limited. Generally the more alien or structured the magic the less then can effect it, however wild, or natural magic is much easier for them. This is one of the main vehicles buy with they feed on their main prey item, fairies. If a fairy wonders into their area they simply force them to become small and them swallow them whole. As Willow Dryads greatly prefer beings high in innate magic fairies are usually the preferred food source.
E: Willow Dryads generally have their own network and aren't allowed into the normal dryad network as other dryads don't like them. It should be noted however when ever they take a humanoid and pull up their roots they can't use the network, in addition the Willow Dryad network is much much smaller.
F: the last special ability of a Willow Dryad is their ability to alter their sent, they use this to draw in their favored prey or to make friends more comfortable, however it typically has not special effects beyond some mild pheromone control.

Locations: Fairy kingdom has more than just about any other place, though a number can be found where ever Fairies are common. Given their mobility however, they can before almost anywhere that has a source of water. Willow Dryads tend to shun dry places as they use alto of water.

Allies: Just about any one willing to be friends with them, though a few races may have a few problems form those bonds. For the most part Willow Dryads have the most allies amongst humans and nekos, but some times manage to make friends with larger predators who don't eat their other friends. It goes with out saying they are almost never friends with fairies, this has won them a few Dridder friends. Sadly for Willow Dryads, they are typicly shuned buy other dryads, probably becasue of their diet.

----- there you go, what do you think.

I wanted to do it in a way that wasn't overwhelming. Hence its limited ability in many cases, but utter viciousness in others.

Oh, and fairies needed a good pred.
