Stumbling Skyward

Serena sniffed the air. "We're closer..." she said, slowly. "There's alot more...so what do you do here?"

"you hide behind a tree and then throw a rock or something to make a sound that distracts them, then while they are looking the other way, you move out as fast as you can and grab the smallest person near you and then you get away as fast as possible" Verira said with a smile, she really enjoyed teaching young nagas how to do some hunting. "or you can do the same thing from the treetops, by swinging down with a vine and grabbing whichever you get the closest to, with your tail" She could now just see a tiny bit of the caravan, from where she was standing. "all you have to do is choose which one you wanna try...and don't worry i'll help you if something goes wrong"

Drake got up seeing that the caravan had left him behind in the forest. "now that's just great. What am i supposed to do now?" he said with a sigh and started walking slowly towards the direction the caravan had headed.

"Hrmm..." said Serena. "This isn't like the one neko I have for eating later. I don't know if I can carry a whole person off fast enough..." She realized she would need to find a very good hiding spot, but still very close to the road itself...

Verira was pleased to see Serena giving a good deal of thought. "take some time too think, but remember...if you take too long some other predator might get the meal before you" She scratched the back of her head. "i figured that out the hard way and had to go hungry for 3 days" She said and giggled a little.

Drake stopped at a spot, with a beam of sunlight coming through the treetops. He was looking around to see if there might be anything interesting, that he could tinker with while walking, when he spotted Serena through the woods. "aw crap" He yelled aloud and threw himself on the ground. "i hope it didn't spot me" He said and crawled along the forest floor.

Serena blinked at the human. "Um...do we go after that one? Or is it some kind of trick? I don't know if even humans are that dumb and careless...."

Verira looked at Serena in confusion. "which one?" She asked. " i don't see anything"

Drake continued crawling hoping that he hadn't and wouldn't be spotted.

"That one." said Serena, pointing to where Drake was making the grass sway in a pattern that obviously showed his path. "He was just standing right in the middle of the path. But I don't see the rest so I wonder what's up..."

Verira looked at the where Serena pointed with a hand above her eyes to see better and sure enough there was a human crawling around in the tall grass. "you have some really good eyes Serena" She said and patted Serena's head gently. "i would guess that he fell asleep and fell off a carriage or something" Verira said with a smile. "i never pass up an oppertunity for an easy meal"

Drake raised his head just enough for him to look around. "i guess that if the naga saw me, she would have come after me by now" He sighed and stood up, like if he had never seen Serena. "now what way was the caravan going again?" He asked to no one in particular. "hmm...i think it was this way" He said looking directly in the direction of Verira and Serena, then he started walking towards them.

"He's...coming right at us." said Serena in disbelief. "Think he's bait for a predator trap? Or maybe he's one of those mentally challenged people."

Verira took a palm to her forehead and shaked her head. "looking at the expression on his face i wouldn't say that this is a trap, more likely is he just very bad at getting around and very bad at keeping an eye on his soroundings" She sighed but not very loudly since the prey was closing in. "hide in a bush or something and then jump him, when he comes close" She whispered to Serena. "i'll hide above"

Drake kept walking, without taking a single look around him. "this was the way the caravan was going...right?" he asked himself. "maybe i should...no, if i turn around i will be even more lost than now" He said and increased his speed a little bit.

Serena saw the prey talking to himself. She had to hold her hands over her mouth to stop her laughing. He walked right by her with not noticing. She leapt out at him, hitting him high in the chest so he toppled over. She slithered around him and smiled up at Verira.

Verira broke into laughter. "how can anyone be that dense?" She managed to say in the midst of laughing. "i mean he walked right next to us and he didn't see us, even though i'm this big" She was laughing so much that she had to sit down, up againts a tree.

Drake let out an. "UMPH" As Serena hit his chest and fell to the ground. "where did you two come from?" He asked as he got back to his senses.

"From right beside you." said Serena, flicking him while giggling. "I'm going to stick with eating that neko, Verira. Do you think you could catch stupid by eating someone like this?"

Verira couldn't stop laughing and Serena's comment just made it worse.

Drake snorted. "it's not that funny" he said

"ye...yes it...it is" Verira said through her laughter.

"just because you're big, doesn't give you the right to make fun of me" Drake growled.

Verira stoped laughing for 5 seconds and then it got even worse.

"Well, it might not be his fault" said Serena. "Did you eat anything that was infected with the stupid? Eating stupid neeras? Well....they'd be pretty dumb if you caught them..."

Verira now fell on her side, making Angella and the neko fall of her shoulder. She was holding her stomach as it was starting to cramp up from all the laughing. "sto..stop...ple...please" she muttered in between the laughing. "you're killing me"

"well then please keep going" Drake said with a smirk.

Angella screamed as she fell back rolling down verira's back onto her scales she was joined a few seconds later by the neko who landed ontop of her angella groaned wrapping her arms around the neko to stop her escapng "hey hey watch it"she clled out a little angrilly.

"i'm sorry i just can't help it" Verira said, this time with much more ease as the laughter was starting to settle down.

Drake snorted again. "damn, i was hoping she would die of laugther" He said kinda dissapointed.

Serena laughed some more. "You do know that can't actually happen, right?" she said. "So, what are you doing out here? With other people? Which way did they go?" She expected Drake to be dumb enough to help them find the other humans."

"i'm following a caravan i got seperated from but i got lost i think and then YOU ran into me" Drake said.

verira was still lying on the ground trying to catch her breath.

"Hey, don't let the neko escape" said Serena as the gagged and bound neko squirmed. "I still got to eat you later." she said, smiling. She turned to Drake.

"Hey. Maybe we can help you find the caravan. We'd like to meet all your friends and stuff. We're usually very shy around humans, so maybe you could bring them to us..." she said, surpressing a grin.

Drake gave it some thought. "sure you can meet my friends, but as i said before, i think i'm lost. I don't know where the caravan is right now" He said kinda angry at himself for getting lost so easily.

"Well...." said Serena. "If it was a caravan, there must have been a road they were following. Maybe if we go back the way you came we can find it." She gave Verira a look, keeping herself from laughing at this gullible human.

Verira just smiled at Serena. "i think i ran out of laugh. anyway, let's see if we can find some trails or something" She said and picked Angella and the neko up and placing them back on her shoulder.

Drake had a strange feeling that they were making fun of him but he just let it slide. "where did i even come from?" He asked in confusion while looking around the best he could, still being held down by Serena.

Serena pointed at the ground. "There are your footprints. Unless your shoes are on backwards, we can just follow them this way. You didn't do a very good job of covering your tracks. Anything could have followed you."
