This is weird, and it's a bit of a story. Pretty epic win on the part of this fragile scrap of paper that I discovered in my yard a couple minutes ago.

When I started high school, I got a cheap, paperback dictionary to help me not suck. I used it all four years, and as the time went by it slowly fell apart and by the end of my senior year, it was in shambles and unusable.

During my graduation bonfire, I burned it in kind of a ceremonial cremation with a lot of symbolic BS. This was last summer.

Just now, almost a year of snow, ice, wind, and rain later, I'm out with my dogs, and I see a small charred scrap of paper. I pick it up, and sure enough, it's a fragment of that old dictionary!

Nearly a year of many rainstorms, snowfall, ice, blustering wind, etc., this little scrap somehow survived all of that to be found by me only a couple minutes ago. It feels surreal, I mean, I'm sure there's a logical reason it survived so long almost intact, but still...
