A quick note on posting: If you want to post here, use the Private Messaging system. A sample of your posts is required, unless I happen to have seen for myself what you are like (in which case, it is more likely I'll invite you). Any post breaking this will simply be disregarded and ignored. I will be heavily monitoring this thread short of having a 24 hour Spy Sat, and the above statement is enforced.

With that out the way...

A fireball fell from the heavens, making a huge impact in the central jungle, close to the Great Tree. The trees around the impact sight burned quickly - but stopped soon after a few minuites of intense heat.

Resting quietly on a very high branch, Trav played a soft, peaceful tune as he waited for nightfall. He found it generally safer to travel at night, during which most predators were sleeping off their dinner. For now, though, the last light of the afternoon were still in the process of fading. Until they did so, he would wait, and play softly. Music was often his best defense against the predators, he could fascinate many of them with his skill.

Yet despite his skill, just now he played a few off tone notes before stopping altogether. Holding his crystalline recorder in his hands, Trav stared up slack jawed. The evening sky, despite the absence of the sun, was getting brighter with a fiery red light. Searching the sky, he soon found the cause of the errant light. Something was descending to the ground, wrapped in blazing fires. “By the gods…” Trav whispered, as he realized that it would soon crash into the earth. Hurriedly getting up, he grabbed hold of some stout vines and braced himself.

Moments later, it struck. Trav plugged his ears as a deafening boom echoed through the forest. This was swiftly followed by the shockwave of air, blowing soil and debris into the sky and uprooting plants. It hit Trav hard. The vines he was holding onto snapped, and launched the little human from the branch he was standing on. Yelling, he was sent hurling through the air. He reached out for something, anything to stop his fall.

Fortune was with him. A different vine came within his grasp. He snagged it, and swung for a moment, catching his breath. Grabbing his straw hat as it came fluttering down, Trav quickly climbed back up to the branches of the canopy. For a second he debated what to do. Logic suggested getting out of there, as such an impact would attract the more curious predators. But Trav was curious himself. Putting his crystalline recorder away into a case on his belt, he took off amid the branches to see what caused such a devastating entry.

((Novuswolf, just a thought, but maybe you could loosen up on the admission requirements a little bit. Maybe let potential joiners send a message and a sample RP post or something))

i dont have the permission to post here, so ignore my useful advice if you wish

if you aren't given permission to post here, then how do you post here? do you send a person a random message saying that they're invited? why do they have to be invited? why can't they ask?

this is like locking down the page without using moderator abilities. I dont get this.

I suggest getting rid of that and saying something like "ask first" otherwise this isn't going to get anywhere.

sorry if i sounded terrible, i dont mean to put any kind of negative tone in what i said.

Lets just say I had a severely bad experiance with people here. The thread was also pre planned with Tuc135...I'm not sure if he got my PM with the link in or not. They all know who they are.

not to try to start a problem, but i don't really see how having a bad experience with a set f people would be a reason to exclude everyone else as well, to be honest that sounds like it would cause even more problems...

i had a pretty bad streak with a set of people, so i just don't involve myself in any drama on the forum, but if i happen to be in an RP with one of them, i just keep quiet and just have fun in the RP, not say something like "i don't like you so im gonna be rude and not let you join."

what are we in kindergarten? what you're doing right here is basically starting a game on a playground and not letting anyone else join because you don't like them...

what you do with your RP is really none of my concern... and if you happen to have pre prepared and all that jazz, you could have just said it instead of DON'T POST HERE UNLESS YOU'RE INVITED that sounds like you're excluding everyone because you don't want them in it...

Ugh, trust me, people I knew behind it wouldn't read it if the words were in glowing neon red and emblazoned half way across their monitors. But I suppose you are right. I will (when my lazy ass can be arsed) get around to examining the rules in place.

Your Idea has been taken onboard and will be considered.

What Trav found in the crater was a huge purple ball, its edges rough like an insect's shell. It appeared to be singed black - possibly scorch marks from the fall. The edge of the shell appeared to be still on fire.

1) I may be interested in joining this, if the restrictions allow me. You probably don't know me well, but maybe Tuc can vouch for me.

2) I think the RP situation here is better than it used to be. Less active, unfortunately, but at the same time more organized. The days of the... dark one... cookeaw... are thankfully over. The mods are very nice here about helping you annihilate pests.

Cautiously creeping up to the edge of the pit, Trav coughed a moment from the smoke pouring from the fire, and peered the best he could through the hazy, smoke filled air. He squinted his eyes, looking at the strange object resting in the center of the crater, trying to figure out exactly what it was. It wasn’t like anything he had ever heard of, let alone seen in his travels. Scratching his head, his curiosity again vied with reason as he tried to decide what to do. He was tempted to go down and see what it was.

But that would have to wait, the impact crater was still cooling off from the massive explosion the crash caused. And Trav doubted the thing, whatever it was, would be going anywhere. He suspected it was dead, assuming it had been alive in the first place. It wasn’t moving any, and being on fire would usually elicit a response from anything alive. For the moment, Trav just waited for the smoke to clear and the crater to cool down.

Archmage_Bael, since you've asked permission, it's fine. I'm sure Trav will be fine with this as well.

Luckily Bael happened to be in the immediate area, he came from the bushes about 200 ft downwind of Trav. He walked out wiping his forhead.

"phew...this is gonna draw attention"

He looked around and met Trav's eyes.

Trav had remained still the whole time, just watching the fire die and waiting for the crater to cool. Some time later, he experimentally tested the creater’s temperature with a leaf, and was pleased to see that it didn’t burn it. Slowly, he started climbing over the lip of the crater. He froze when he heard a voice, but looking over, he saw that it was just an elf. Taking a second he tipped his hat in the elf’s direction.

As he was doing so, whatever it was in the middle of the crater released steam in a loud hiss. Trav jumped at the noise, the loose rocks beneath his feet shifting and sliding. With a yelp he fell onto his backside, and began sliding down the slope of the crater toward the large object in the center of it.

((Sure, Bael can join))

As Trav got closer, the object...started to move. The chitinous sections started to peel back. The surprise came when the sections had fully retracted - it was a large creature, or rather, it was unusually large for something from Felarya. As it righted itself, both could see it had a distinctive feminime silhouette common with most Felaryan creatures - but lacked the obvious marks of being female. After sorting itself out, it simply sat in the middle of the crater, examining the local enviroment. It appeared whatever it was hadn't noticed either Trav or Bael yet.

“Faith…” Trav murmured softly, as he finally came to a stop not far from the side of the being in the crater. He stared up at her, trying to figure out exactly what she was. In all his years of traveling, he hadn’t seen anything or anyone like her. He had no idea how she survived that sort of impact and explosion.

But in the back of his mind, his felaryan survival instinct was going off. Whatever this person was, she was above all huge. And a potential predator. As quietly as he could, he began to crawl back away from her. The loose rocks in the crater made it difficult though, causing him to slide back frequently with the tiny clacking of tumbling pebbles.

Bael looked upon the giant creature, being somewhat unfamiliar with this creature and nervous about the situation he retreated back into the bushes slowly just after he casted a 'silence' spell, softening all the noises to an extremely low level to allow for greater stealth. He retreated his glance from Trav to pay attention, although it might be a good idea to team up with him should anything happen. Slowly he moved through the large felaryan bushes trying to gently circle toward the other person's location.

The creature's ears picked up on Trav's movements, whirling round and locking on. Upon making out what it was, she started to look geniunely terrified.

Bael saw the creature's eye movements toward Trav's location. He decided to get closer to Trav, but wary of going up to meeting him now that he has been seen.

He suppresses the urge to curse under his breath if this "predator" has very sensitive hearing. He approaches within a hundred or so feet of Trav, still making an effort to stay behind the bushes.

Trav saw the giant being turning to look at him, and the blood drained from his face as her huge eyes met his. He covered his head with his hands, fearing what would come next. He expected one of the massive hands to be reaching down to snatch him up and drop him into a hungry mouth. He waited trembling …but the hand never came.

Slowly, he looked up again, and to his surprise, the creature wore an expression of abject terror that matched his own. Trav’s face became the picture of confusion, as he tried to figure out why such an immense being would be afraid of a tiny man like himself. Failing to come up with a plausible answer, Trav worked next on what to do for now. He considered running, but looking up, he saw the slope of the crater would make that difficult at best. He daren’t make any aggressive moves, lest this gigantic creature strike in panic. He decided to try and assuage this being’s fear, and hopefully win a friend, or at least get himself off the menu.

Slowly, with no sudden movements, he got his recorder out of his pack, and brought it up. He began playing a peaceful, gentle tune, one bringing to mind a pleasant summer day.

The creature's expression became puzzled. As Trav played, she appeared to become more relaxed. With great care, she leaned in closer to get a better look at Trav, her large red eyes fixated on him and the tune.

Bael decided that while Trav played his tune, it's safe to move in closer to him. He pops out from the bushes and walks straight over to him, and leans up against a tree branch to enjoy the music until he finishes.
