Reg (human)

Hair: Red

Eyes: Brown

Age: Looks about 20, but that's just the soil. He's quite old.

Bio and Personality:

Ron was once a little boy living in a quiet, secluded village in the jungle. However, as he grew, his mother found that she could not support him. She came up with a relatively unorthadox solution: sell the sweet little guy into slavery!

So she did. But, as the caravan came to find out, dangerous landscapes and bad Karma don't mix, no matter how much luck or skill you have. They had the foresight to bring along an exceptionally powerful mage for protection, and he protected the slavers for the majority of the trip (nullifying predator sense, making them invisible, etc., etc.). However, despite his warnings, the group chose to take a route through the Akaptor Desert.

After a rather bad surprise attack from a local beast, the group all ended up on the ground, including Ron. Needless to say, the slavers and slaves didn't make it back to the future... except for Ron, who, having heard the rumours of the desert, managed to make improvised stilts from branches of a dead tree while the creature that immediately attacked was busy with the others. Back in the future, he found the wreckage of the caravan and made a more lasting pair of stilts from it, then headed back to the Jungle, and, he hoped, some sort of civilization.

He survived his journey, and after years of wandering, he found Negav. He survived only through luck, cunning, and wit, and nearly died many, many times; he was happy to be in a city again. He brought a bit of treasure, as well, though after buying some food, he was quick to hide it. Ron was then taken in by a kind old Minalcan priest, who took an interest in his journeys. This kind old man also taught Ron how to read.

Ron quickly grew fascinated with books, and invested the rest of his modest treasure into buying as many as possible. He developed such an interest that he started working in the great library, where he eventually, through hard work and good fortune, opened his own bookstore, where business was rather mediocre. Soon, Ron found himself missing the adrenaline of a life of adventure, and set out with an expedition.

This trip, as well as the first, changed his life. He came back with great wealth, and, it should be noted, many rare and ancient tomes to sell at his bookstore. Business boomed when these hit. He also went on more expeditions as time went on, his bookstore became a chain, and he made friends and connections- even as high up as the Magicrats, in time. All this time, his wealth increased. He met and befriended the undead cerberus, and the two would actually converse regularly on Ron's routine expeditions.

But, like all good things, it had to end. Later in life, Ron was cursed by a sorcerer who felt that Ron's shop had cheated him on a book, so that he was promised, if he ever ventured again into the Jungle, he would perish. So, with his riches, Ron was bound to Negav for the remainder of his years.

Nowadays, he mostly sticks to his own mansion. Unable to journey out himself, he now funds other hopefuls wishing for adventure in the Jungle, however foolish. He is seen by many in Negav as a kind, rich shut-in, most having no idea of his past adventures. He still seems to enjoy life, though.

----------

Well, that's Ron. He was in a recent chapter of my story, so I figured I'd post the minor character's profile...

Also, I intend to use his younger self as a roleplay character, what with his adventuring.

Any comments?
