Right I'm going to start this off with a legend. Spike Milligan, possibly one of the greatest comedians ever to live. He has written several books. But is most famous for The Goon Show, and his own tv series. The series was competing against Monty Pythons flying circus.

Some more of his work isnt pc and as such I'll leave if to your own discretion. Seeing as a lot of what they did in comedies, back then can't ever be done again or repeated.

Nobody here heard of Les Luthiers?
This one has close caption, though they mainly do Spanish... the DVD edition has subtitles they wrote THEMSELVES, translating the joke to five different languages... those guys take Woolseyism, and then run it up to eleven!
Just Spanish for this one, but it's still pretty funny if you understand it.
Bad subtitles on this one. I guess they aren't the official ones, but the idea's there anyway.

Russell Howard is awesome, being one of the youngest comedians on British telly. Also one of the funniest, he has got his own tv show as well as, appearing on mock the week. Also guest starring on live at the Apollo from time to time.

The latter is more of a stand-up kind of guy, while Colbert specializes in other media.
