Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Empty
PostSubject: Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration   Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Icon_minitimeSun Jan 05, 2014 3:05 pm

Alright my forums account is activated and I finally found some time to get it done, so here is it, the threat for the colaboration.
Since we´ve already got a suitable amount of writers I suppose we can just skip the searching for participants phase and get right to the sence of the threat, clarifying a few basics so everyone can write the stuff they want to. (Just in case, we´re not particularly looking for more writers (not that I´m aware of, that is) but if anyone is still interested in the (very) near future he/she could still be integrated, I guess)

A quick note, just to make sure: The following points are supposed to be answered by the actual participants, since they´re the ones who are going to be affected the most.

You´ve all got the information what the story´s going to be about and also a list of questions plus extra explanations for every question, I´ll just repost the questions in a shorter form and give them numbers. Why number? Because I came to realise that it´d be a waste of time to wait for everyone to give a reply to every single question, so answer those who you really have to answer and leave all those questions out that you don´t have to care about (depends on what (roughly) you want to write). There are obviously some exceptions, like the title, which we have to settle on and the one I gave to the threat is actually not suitable as the show is meant to take place in a new world in every show (can be changed if necessary).

So here´s the list, feel free to give additional notes and requests, give your own oppinion or agree/disagree (with reason if possible) with others.

1.Name of the show
2.(Rough) Number of players - (including "Dummys")
3.Number of your own characters - (May be answered later, but in time to keep track with others, keep the number of late introductions low, please)
4.Will you have a predator as actual character? - (An exeption for late introductions, but having some early on would be nice)
5.Kind of players - (volunteers or something else, give suggestions)
6.Meeting other people´s characters - (may be OCs or story internal characters, meeting each other could be fun)
7.First actual "introduction" with native felaryans (giants) in the first night - (saying if it´s a good/bad idea should be enough here)
8.Direction of the race - (East-West / North-South / other?)
9.Characters travelling in groups - (just in case someone has something important to say for pro/cons)
10.Cameras - (I´d suggest helicopters (a few, not dozens) so we have some "flying food", might be content for a story...)

And there are still those ideas I´ve included in the notes, which would be the helicopters (if we´re going to have them) being attacked by harpies (one of few ways to get a new character involved during the later/proceeding story) and the other one would be 1/2 characters hunted until they end up standing above a waterfall and chose to jump, you probably know which waterfall I had in mind here.

I hope communication and progress will become a little faster and easier now that we can communicate as a whole, although there´s a lot less privacy to it.

Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Empty
PostSubject: Re: Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration   Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Icon_minitimeTue Jan 21, 2014 3:52 am

Huh, finally managed to remember my old password and everything here.  Sorry I haven't been too active on this project so far, but it's just been one thing after another the last few weeks.  So anyway, hopefully that'll change now, and though I'm a little sleepy and a little unsure about some of these questions, but what the hell!  No time like the present!   lol!

1.Name of the show
For some reason I'm feeling silly at the moment, so I'm gonna vote for "The Gentleman's (And Lady's!) Annual Multiversal Competition of Outstanding Wilderness Survival."  I also picture the eccentric proprietor employing a top-hat and monical, for some reason.

Also, for no particular reason, here's my suggestion for a possible introduction speal:

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the tenth annual Gentleman's (And Lady's!) Annual Multiversal Competition of Outstanding Wilderness Survival!  In previous years we saw contestants brave the arctic tundras of Colsuka! Struggle across the searing volcanic wastes of Ouitkr!  And who can forget the bloody journey across the undead-infested ruins of the once-great Thulcrium Empire!

"So what have we in store for this prestigious tenth anniversary?  This year, contestants well be trekking across what many believe to be the most dangerous land in the known universe:  Felarya!  Stories tell of monstrous, flesh-eating giants, sinister magics, and an environment so hostile the very land itself will try to devour you!"

"And what sort of compensation are we offering in exchange for the uniquely deadly trails ahead for our brave contestants?  For this tenth anniversary, it seems only fitting we should offer ten times the usual prize money!  That's right, at the end of this contest, we'll be giving away prizes roughly equal in value to all the previous contests combined!"

Pretty rough, but it got stuck in my head, so thought I'd share anyway.

2.(Rough) Number of players - (including "Dummys")
Since I expect my contribution to be mostly insular and self-contained from the others, I don't really see this having much impact on me, so I'll leave this decision up to others.

3.Number of your own characters - (May be answered later, but in time to keep track with others, keep the number of late introductions low, please)
I don't have anything super solid at the moment, but I think around 3 would be suitable for a snack . . . er, for a story. :3

4.Will you have a predator as actual character? - (An exception for late introductions, but having some early on would be nice)
Hmm, probably not going to do a whole ton from the predator's perspective in this case.  Though I usually like to do a bit of perspective-swapping in my stories, I think I'll be focusing on the human perspective for this one.

5.Kind of players - (volunteers or something else, give suggestions)
I'm voting for a volunteer/gameshow contestant type deal, since that fits nicely with the classic hapless explorer archetype.

6.Meeting other people´s characters - (may be OCs or story internal characters, meeting each other could be fun)
Probably not much of this for me.  My own characters will likely group up, just because character interaction is fun, but I'm kinda swamped with other projects at the moment, and collaborations generally entail a good bit more work from both parties.

7.First actual "introduction" with native felaryans (giants) in the first night - (saying if it´s a good/bad idea should be enough here)
Sounds like a fine idea to me.  With all the commotion they'd sure to be making, I'd be surprised if they didn't run into some trouble pretty early on.

8.Direction of the race - (East-West / North-South / other?)
Well, having them start from the Dimensional Gate in Ur-Sagol seems natural, given how convenient that thing is for dimensional travelers . . . although maybe it'd work better as a 'finish line'.  I'd kinda like their path to intersect with the Jewel River and/or Jadong Lake, since my very vague outline at this point would like to have Anko in it, but otherwise I don't have much invested in the geographical specifics. . . . It also occurs to me that Negav might not be keen on the event, I can easily imagine an authority figure refusing to allow filming any of it in Negav: "No.  Everyone will die.  On camera.  And that will hurt tourism."

9.Characters travelling in groups - (just in case someone has something important to say for pro/cons)
Seems like both a logical choice (especially once they see how screwed they really are) and because one single human is hardly a filling meal.  I doubt there'd be any rules against it either, since the drama of people joining up, cooperating, stabbing each other in the back, etc. etc. would actually make for better television, I think.

10.Cameras - (I´d suggest helicopters (a few, not dozens) so we have some "flying food", might be content for a story...)
Sounds fine to me!

PostSubject: Re: Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration   Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Icon_minitimeTue Jan 21, 2014 8:51 am

I had a few thoughts on the introduction already and tried to do a rough start up a while back and I actually didn't quite think about your kind of idea, which doesn't mean anything. My idea was to actually make this one the first episode of the show, with some pretty shocking results, that is xD. Having pretty much no spoilers for the contestants might be one idea, but giving away some spoilers (maybe even telling the entire truth) too. They would probably even think that there can't be a place as hostile as this and take it as exaggeration, until they painfully realise that they were wrong.

When it comes to the direction, I would like to have Ur-Sagol as finish line (the other end seen from the start , though) now that you speak of it, getting everyone all excited when finding some human buildings and then eaten with the finish line in sight would be hilarious Very Happy

I'd agree with the other points, time to get the others into the debate, I'll send out some notes ^^

Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Empty
PostSubject: I'm HERE!   Felaryan Race (Work Title) - Colaboration Icon_minitimeThu Jan 23, 2014 1:14 pm

Okey dokey, my thoughts for all to read.

Name of Show: The Ultimate Challenge. (Not too good at coming up with TV show names, but there it is)

Number of Participants: 100 (An even number, and most are “first night filler.”

Number of Characters (from my side): 1 Predator -I'd be happy to write things from the pred's side.

Types: You’d have to be brave, suicidal, or stupid/ignorant to volunteer on a show that will send you to almost certain death. Hell yes volunteers! Do you have any IDEA the kind of people that would sign up: the unpredictable kind, the kind that could actually survive out there… the entertainment one could reap from those kinds of characters is simply off the charts! As a foil to them, have at least a few “lucky ones” though. Five star ratings...

Meeting others/Forming Groups: I’m all for it- especially if you put in the split the prize rule, since not everyone will want to share. Banding together to use teamwork or sacrificing your teammates is almost required to survive in Felarya. As far as other preds meeting racers or each other, that will help weave this into a true interlocking collaboration, if it’s done well; communication will be key.

Cameras: While I agree that there should be some kind of aerial surveillance, it can’t be the only method; even with highly trained pilots choppers and planes would be easy targets on a cloudless day. Plus they need fuel, there are ways around that, but most are somewhat tacky or have been done before. There does need to be some ground-based cameras, and I have a suggestion for that: Androids. A half-dozen or so human-like androids with the ability to locate players that span out and not only send back live feed, but commentary to the stations. After X number of participants are “eliminated” (No pun intended) they either leave, deactivate, or seek out solo competitors/predators that have eliminated said competitors for an interview. If you give them human bodies and mostly human personalities it could make for some excellent kindling for all sorts of drama.

Regarding harpies and Vivian, I’ll do them if no one else wants to, I’ve never done harpies, Vivian or any character like her, so use me as a last resort; it could get messy, character-wise.

As a last note, I’ve never done a collab of any sort, so correct me if I’m approaching this the wrong way, it’s the only way I’ll learn.
