PostSubject: Dreams of the Sunken Moon   Mon Jun 13, 2011 12:29 pm

After the temporary failure of Mortis' new roleplay, I've decided I want to try my hand at making my own. I've gone over some ideas, and I feel that I have enough of a basis to post the beginning.

You've been having dreams lately, strange dreams that are slightly different each night, but there are a few things that are the same. You see your greatest desire, locked away inside what appears to be the moon, but then ithe moon is deep, deep underwater, embedded in the sea floor. Sometimes you dive down into the water, but you're never able to reach it before running out of air and drowning, and other times you get eaten before you even get close. You then hear a strange female voice saying, "The Topazial Sea is waiting for you." You then see the image of a very tall, yet extremely beautiful woman wearing exquisite clothing and jewelery walkking along the beach. She looks at you and winks. Then you wake up.
You've had this dream so many times that it's convinced you to travel to the Topazial Sea and search for this "sunken moon" and find your treasure. From what you've seen in your dreams, the moon is relatively close to the western beach of the sea, but it sitting at the very bottom of the sea floor.

As for the rules, I'm going to follow Mortis' example, so no godmodding, and no auto-hitting (whatever that is). Your character is not immune to being eaten by the various predators you will encounter, and any character who seems too unbalanced will be disposed of. I'm also banning making predator-class characters, however I'm very open to any ideas for kinds of predators that could pose as obstacles for the players. I'm not very experienced, but I'd like for this to be as lighthearted as possible, not like what Mortis did with going overboard with the serious distressful stuff (seriously, I was literally at war with myself constantly to stay with his RP because of that). Try to be creative when making your characters, or perhaps you may use one you have already created if you think they are well-suited to this roleplay. Due to my inexperience, I'd very much appreciate any ideas and assistance you can provide me with as well, so we can work together to keep this fun and interesting. Also, I want to avoid making it guesome or heavyhanded, and thus I'm not making survival a huge point of the RP. You will have to avoid predators, and you will get attacked by other humans (for reasons to be revealed during the RP), but I want to focus more on the plot and the characters rather than all the harsh realities.

I'm interested in participating ^^

A nice background for a starting location would be nice. maybe negav as it's safe? Or another hidden village somewhere in the jungle?

As I understand, the Jungle Bowl is closer to the sea, so maybe players would rather begin from there. If that is the case, that doesn't mean everyone's character has to be from the Jungle Bowl, either. There can be characters that came from Negav meeting the ones in the Jungle Bowl at the very beginning of the RP.

Thank you Sanion, Walking. I'm sure if you can figure out a way to incorporate the mermaid into the RP, as they're usually restricted by where the water is, then I suppose, but if you wish to have a more apparent role, you may want to use your other character instead. I'm going to have to ask you to post their bio here, too. Also, if you can apply the "vision of your greatest desire" thing to your character, I feel that would help add to the story, at least a little bit. Also, I've decided that the roleplay will begin in Negav, so the characters starting from there can have a chance to meet at some point before the real problems start. Also, I'd kinda of rather no predator-class characters, as I plan to make other humans into obstacles as well, and having a predator in the group would make getting by them too easy. However, if you have any ideas of a predator that could get in the heroes' way, I'd very much like the chance to consider your suggestion. ^.^

Name: Cazut Amant
Species: Dark Angel
Chrono/Bio Age: 75/17
Sex: Male
Height: 5í11Ē
Weight: 125 lbs
Skin color: Pale
Hair color: Black
Eye color: When calm, violet. When angered, a dark red to pitch black
Other Characteristics: Cazut always wear his favorite black shirt regardless of the weather. He has lengthy hair like that of a Native Americanís. He wears black jeans with a specially made leather belt that holds items that he loves to carry around. He seems to have three personalities depending on how his mood in. He carries to signature items around with him. A real rose that changes between red and black, varying shades depending on what sort of mood he is in. He carries around a large case around the back of his waist that carries a sword made of thorns. He carries a regular sword and dagger for regular cases. He hides his black feathered wings, being able to summon them and hide them with magic.
Background: Cazut was raised by a human woman by the name of Anne Cazuit. Hence which his name was derived. Anne had found Cazut outside of her home in the city suburbs. She was shocked to see his small black wings at first, and then grew to love them as a sign of mystery, but also of hope. As a young child, he was treated well by Anne, and was allowed to do almost everything that a normal human child was allowed to do. One day at school though, Cazut was attacked by the teachers and children, them all seeing him as ďA child of Lucifer.Ē After that, he was homeschooled. He grew to fear the outside world as a dangerous and hostile place. Later in life, when he was 12 years old, he was asked to go to the store by Anne. When he returned, the door was ajar, and gunshots were going off. Through his fear and curiosity, he ran into the home. What he found inside broke him. A man holding a desert eagle had shot his mother, and was now aiming the same gun at him. He heard one gunshot and that was it. When he awoke from his blackened state, he saw the man ripped to pieces, blood splattered across the walls, and skin under his finger nails. He could care less about the man. He staggered over to Anne and sobbed. For days he stood there until eventually a portal appeared as he wished it would. He entered the portal. The minute he stepped through it, he was thrown into an apocalyptic world where chaos and fighting never ceased to stop. He cowered and feared against the fighters, hiding and running until he collapsed. When he awoke, he was in a soft hay bed with a wool blanket over him. A man with a thorn-like and lance-like sword was standing over him. The manís name was Trandafir Ghimpe. Trandafir smiled lightly at him, calling him a name that he did not understand. After many conversations, Cazut finally had the nerve to ask if the Trandafir would train him to fight with different weapons and his fists. He agreed. After 25 years of training, the war had grown so large; dictators were rising up to crush any oppression. Seeing Cazutís master as a threat, they attacked the Trandafirís home as well as Cazut. Fighting off nearly 100 men each (though they were untrained), both of them began to grow tired. Eventually, Cazutís master fell. Feeling threat and the pain of loss again, Cazut blacks out again. When he awakens, the men that were attacking were all gone, a massive explosion being caused by their armored tank(a fuel leak was found from one of the gas tanks). When Cazut looked inside his hand he could see a small ball of darkness slowly fade into nothing. He staggered over to take some of his masterís possessions as mementos, including the Trandafirís swords and dagger. He had summoned up something that he normally could not. He again willed for a portal to open, and just as before, it did. He was now perked with curiosity and fear, and began searching for his origins. He traveled through peaceful, chaotic, twisted, normal, and insane planes. Eventually he reaches Felarya, hearing men speak of the ruins there. He was hoping dearly to find some answersÖand maybe friends.
Personality: Cazut is a naturally curious person, always trying something once before deciding whether or not he likes it. Though this is a good thing, it also gets him in trouble a lot. He is a very kind-hearted person when his eyes are violet. He is willing to help you through anything, even if you recently tried to hurt him. He is extremely shy also, hating when people call him out for any reason. He is also someone who loves to know things, which is one reason that leads him to wish to know where he originated. Not really knowing why, but he is also a very controlled character, feeling his other personalityís desire to kill but ignoring it. His red-eyed personality is far different from his typical self. He is cunning and intelligent, but also somewhat reckless. He has little regard for life, and enjoys spilling blood of just about anyone within his line of sight. He is short-tempered and very sarcastic. He is overconfident. The only similarity between the violet-eyed and red-eyed personalities is that they both have a drive for answers. When the red-eyed personality is angered, his eyes turn black. The black-eyed personality has zero regard for life, enjoying the sheer sight of death and destruction. He has no emotions other than anger, and has no drive for anything other than killing.

Abilities/Survival Skills: Varying on his personalities, his abilities and skills differ. His main two magical skills being his Shadow Grenade and Slipstream. The Shadow Grenade is concussive ball of the darkness consumed from the night and sins of the worlds that Cazut has visited. Cazutís body absorbs these things, and stores them in the center of his spirit for use. The Slipstream is Cazutís own technique and a rare one. If Cazut so wishes it, he can use this once every 24 hours since it exhausts most of his magical energy. Slipstream allows Cazut to fly into any plane or place he chooses. Meaning if Cazut were about to die, he could simply slip into the stream and move away before it happens so he does not die. During his red- and black-eyed personalities, he gains the abilities to use his claws that extend out 4 feet from his fingertips. These fingertips are as sharp as any blade and as strong as steel.

I wasn't thinking of a giant mermaid just a human sized one in case the RP goes by boat from the Negav docks to the Topazial sea. As for entering in giant preds... well I'm not really sure what the best way to do that is. But maybe work RPer's into an encounter with a giant pred slowly rather then throwing them into a fight for their lives at the get go? As from what you've said i think it might be better to go with the one from Mortis RP so here's his info:

Name: Nihlus
Species: Kitsune
Age: 75
Gender: Male
Height (head to ground): 5' 4"
Hair Colour: Red
Eye colour: Hazel
Other Visual Characteristics: Has several Grey tribal tatoo's on arms as well as hole in right ear exhales small puffs steam due to body being constantly cold.
Abilities & Skills : Able to use some rather advanced forms of Water and Cold (Ice) magic.
Equipment & Clothing: Wears a grey tunic and sweater with normal clothes. Carries a Frostlite sword which helps to amplify his water and cold abilities (see gt500x's description on frostlite)

Personality: Not very social at first and seems to always give others a "cold shoulder" figuratively and literally. Will lend a hand when necessary or when the need arises but generally keeps to himself.

Vision of Greatest Desire: When having the weird dream of the Sunken Moon it always starts with the one small room about the size of a jail cell with a podium in the center and a single tattered brown book inscribed with symbols most likely made by a child. Then it zooms out to the moon embedded in the sea floor with him trying to swim to the sunken moon only to end up being eaten by something different every time. And before that him on the shore of the Topazial sea staring out into the ocean to hear a siren like voice calling out to him and as he turns around sees the tall beautiful woman and before he can say anything always wakes in a cold sweat with that same haunting voice in his head "The Topazial Sea is waiting for you"

Backstory: Easily mistaken as a neko as a child Nihlus grew up along the western shores of Felarya near the Imoreith Tundra where he learned to use both water and cold (ice) magic. During a ceremony that was common in his clan that was supposed to allow those that under go it immune to the cold environments of the Imoreith Tundra the ceremony itself succeeded and he is now immune to the cold of the Imoreith Tundra however as an unforeseen side effect Nihlus body now cold at all times to the point where his breath is a cold mist. Naturally this constant cold has made him bitter as any that touched him always received frost bite, and therefore none wished to associate with him as everyone assumed he did so on purpose. Tired of being shunned by his own clan Nihlus left the cold western coast of Felarya and moved towards the warmer Eastern coast hoping to make a better life for himself only to find the same distrust and new dislike for the beings of the Felaryan eastern coast.

Name: Tisem
Species: Neera
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Height (head to ground): 2.6 inches
Hair Colour: Dark Brown
Eye colour: Dark Green
Other Visual Characteristics: Short Hair, Keeps tail wrapped around his waist most of the time.
Abilities & Skills : Sneaking, trap disarming, and unsurprisingly good at fitting into small spaces!
Equipment & Clothing: Wears shabby clothing, usually a white shirt with brown pants (with a hole for his tail)

Personality: Tisem is shy and somewhat paranoid of danger, causing him to be very cautious of any situation, and somewhat difficult to befriend. However once you earn his trust and he considers you a true friend, he can prove to be very loyal and honest with you.

Backstory: When Tisem was 16 his village in the Deeper Felaryan jungle was raided by a group of hungry Nekos, where he saw his mother and father swallowed alive. He fled with his sister, but in the chaos they were separated and Tisem lost her. He found himself fleeing into the jungle alone, with a hungry female neko hot on his trail. Eventually he was cornered against a tree, and as the neko reached down to grab him a bright flash struck, and suddenly he was looking at the neko face to face. She was promptly snatched up and eaten by the fairy woman who had been out looking for something to eat herself. After devouring the neko and then noticing Tisem cowering there, she decided to take Tisem with her back to Kortiki town in the fairy kingdom. Unfortunately, despite his pleas for release, the fairy then gave him as a gift to another fairy named Kiata. Kiata treated Tisem like a pet, and for six years he was confined to living in small bottles only to be let out for Kiata or her friends to play with. Eventually a neko living in the town decided to try and steal him to eat herself, but was caught in the process. She dropped the bottle and ran, and Tisem managed to escape the town as Kiata was preoccupied punishing the neko. Lost in the jungle, Tisem eventually managed to get out of the fairy kingdom, following the river until he wandered too close to Nekomura, where he was caught and put up for sale as a food item in the back-alleys of village. Perhaps by dumb luck, Tisem was bought by a human woman by the name of Letty, a resident of Negav who bought him to use as a house servant. He worked there for two years, until Letty released him. For the past two years Tisem has been working on machinery that breaks down in peoples' houses in exchange for food and a temporary place to stay. This has kept him off the streets and out of harms way for the most part, and has let him pick up some knowledge on the inner workings of gadgets and machinery. His past still haunts him, and he has dreams of his lost sister Tiseta crying in darkness. He has become extremely fearful of nekos, often running for cover at the sight of them, and greatly distrusting them. One of his greatest fears is that he will one day be bottled up again.

I'm going to wait for perhaps one more character to join in, then I'm going to need some assistance starting the roleplay. :3 Any earliy ideas any of you have, even if you don't have a character, I would be pleased to discuss with you over PM, or in the chatbox if you see me. ^_^

i'd like to join, although i havent gotton my character put together Im gonna start a bio right now. so ill be using my mechanical armed samurai with no name ^_^

also this will be my first RP and earlier you asked
Quote :
and no auto-hitting (whatever that is).
auto hitting is when you attack and post results in same post; for example "I swing my sword at *insert target* and cut it in half" that would be auto hitting "I swing my sword at *insert target*." Would not be auto hitting as you will be letting the person who is controling said target to reply with a result.

so dont count me in until i post my bio

I shall now post my bio, if that is acceptable...

Name: Reg

Species: Human

Age: 80 (looks 30)

Gender: Male

Height: 6'2"

Hair: Red

Eyes: Brown

Other: There is a sense of calmness and understanding usually coming from him.

Abilities: His time in the Jungle taught him many things. One thing was to never fight a predator in anything even vaguely resembling a fair fight. As such, he learned quite a bit of "tricky" defensive magic.
It should also be noted that he is remarkably intelligent (he has survived 5 different excursions into the Jungle...) and tends to use advanced tactics in any stressful situations. In addition, he has a good, strong speaking voice and is very articulate.

Equipment: He is rich. As such, he has access to a wide variety of tools and items. He has the basics, a backpack and supplies, and also a sleeping bag that has been "magically balanced" by mages; or, it is immune to the sixth sense. This was exorbitantly expensive, and took a large chunk out of his considerable fortune. As such, while he tried to purchase a bag of holding for his miscellaneous supplies, he could only (prudently) afford a little "coin-purse of holding". He packed a ridiculous number of energy bars and other small, long-lasting foods in there, but not too much in the way of meals besides little tubes of dehydrated food and some miscellaneous supplies. He also has a pencil and paper, and some supplies for use in spell-casting.

As for clothing, he has a rather loose outfit made of varying colors of red fabric on normally. He has packed a set of clothes of a similar description, but slightly tighter and made of green materials instead for the Jungle.

Personality: He seems to be a kind and peaceful man, owing to his time being raised by a Minalcan priest. His kindness and age has made him somewhat a father figure to his household servants, a role which he took well to. Even so, he has a history of rather ruthless business practices towards his enemies, and his anger, when aroused, is unexpectedly fierce. He also has a stunning fear of the desert, as well as an extreme sense of caution about certain areas of the Jungle, sometimes bordering on simply freezing like a computer when he sees something that reminds him too heavily of his youth.

History: Born poor and with only his mother for company in a small Jungle village near the Topaz sea, he was abandoned by her when he was 12 years old. At this point, the circumstances conspired to send him into the great jungle, where he wandered around on the edge of death constantly for well over a year. He was found by a group of somewhat competent adventurers, who took him back with them to Negav and left him in the care of an elderly pries of Minalca. This started a peaceful, studious portion of his life, wherein he learned to read and write.

He also learned some magic where and when he could, though he did not become adept at it until later. He sold some of the treasure he had hidden upon coming to Negav from the jungle and wrote a novel about his life at the age of 16, primarily that of his time in the jungle. It was published and received well by the public. He then, at 18, went on an expedition into the Jungle for publicity and also for a want of excitement with a number of adventurers, including several of his saviors from 6 years previous.

It ended badly. He and 2 others were the sole survivors, making it through on luck alone. He did get a few items, however, and some of them were quite valuable. The most important was an ancient, ancient book he found in the mysterious temple. When all was said and done, it gave him an idea. He sold the rest, and used his capital from his book and all of his remaining treasure to found a small bookstore in a strategic location. In it, he also offered the old tome at a truly exorbitant price. The Library of Negav bought it for hardly less than the advertised price, and people remembered his name.

The expedition served another purpose, giving him some notoriety among the exploring crowd. Many became loyal customers, as well. His money and business were growing. The final act that sealed his fortune was yet another excursion into the jungle, leaving his store in the care of a close friend. He was by now a fairly experienced adventurer, and he did make it back, with some difficulty and luck and even more treasure, although now he focused on collecting magical books.

This worked wonders; in a few years, he managed to open another store. Then another. Soon, it was a chain, and one well known by both his public and his business rivals. He wrote several more books, including one focusing on self-help. At 57, he had his own mansion in an upper district, and servants. He went on 2 more adventures, and at the end of his 5th time in the Jungle, he decided his luck wouldn't hold further, and retired to a peaceful city life with his servants.

His dream, which he now risks his life for, is simple: true contentment. The ability to sleep without nightmares of his time in the jungle, and to live out his life with internal peace.

---------------------------

Is it alright with everyone if he funds the expedition? I was also kind of thinking he could know the Neera by hiring him at some time in the near past...

Finally, can I do the whole "Achievement" thing this time? If anything, it would be even more appropriate with Nyaha at the helm.

He also sees that he has his own family too a wife with a child on the way; he also sees himself and he has his arm back. Then it zooms out to the moon embedded in the sea floor with him trying to swim to the sunken moon only to end up being eaten by something different every time or in some cases drowning. And before that heís on the shore of the Topazial sea staring out into the ocean to hear a siren like voice calling out to him and as he turns around sees the tall beautiful woman and before he can say anything always wakes in a cold sweat with that same haunting voice in his head "The Topazial Sea is waiting for you"

Back-story:
From a futuristic (sorta steampunk/cyberpunk) version of feudal era Japan on an alternate version of earth. Takamoto was born into the Yoshigawa clan by the name of Taro, his father Yoshigawa Terumoto was leader of the clan and a feudal lord. He had two younger brothers and one baby sister. Being born the son of a feudal lord he was put into samurai training so he could serve his father and eventually lead the clan. His sensei was Takakage.

On the day before his coming of age ceremony (when he turns 14) him, his parents and his siblings were flying over neo-edo in their family airship when there was an explosion, his mother covered him as the airship fell from the sky. The pilot tried to recover the airship and land it in neo-edo airport. The airship crash landed, he a horrible jolt of pain in his left arm and blacked out. When he awoke in the hospital he was bandaged head to toe, he found out from a nurse that he had been in a comma for over a week and that he was the lone survivor of the crash. And if this wasnít enough he discover to his horror that his left arm was missing, replaced with a mechanical prosthetic. The doctor told him what had happened, his mother had shielded him from most of the flames but when the ship crashed a bulkhead collapsed, pinning his. They had to amputate it to remove him from the wreckage.

Weeks went by and when he was mostly recovered he was visited by a messenger boy from his clan who informed him that while he was in a comma the clan had fought over who gains leadership as his condition was unknown. He demanded to know why they would do such a thing as he is the rightful heir to the clan now that he was 14 and a man, with which the messenger stated that although he is 14 he never had the coming of age ceremony and was thus technically not yet allowed to rule. The messenger continued saying that in his absence a new leader had taken over the clan, his uncle Ieyasu was now head of the Yoshigawa clan. At this point Takamoto (Taro) was out of bed and walking towards the messenger, he grabbed the message out of his hands and read it, confirming what the messenger had stated and that he was to swear fealty to his uncle or be declared an rōnin and exiled from the Yoshigawa clan. He slumped back onto the bed at a loss for words on what had happened. The messenger added that he will be back in a week for his answer and that he had brought some new clothes for him.

After the messenger left he wept over the death of his family and the loss of his inheritance. Unsure of what to do he got dressed in the hitatare the messenger left for him and went for a walk through the city. It started to rain so he stopped at a bar and in his depression got drunk and got in a fight wit ha group of thugs. He would have been beaten to death by the five thugs until a man with a sword came and stopped them. It was his sensei Takakage who had scared them off, he asked Takakage what he was doing outside of the clan house. He told him that he had left the Yoshimoto clan, and that the reason to this is because Ieyasu was the one who caused the explosion on the airship so he could take over the clan. And that after hearing this he ran from Ieyasu because he was too old to battle someone so powerful.

Takamoto (Taro) enraged by what his uncle had done punched the side of a building with his left fist and howled. He swore that he would get revenge and so Takakage continued training him at an old friendís dojo. He also preformed the coming of age ceremony for him where Taro was bestowed the name Takamoto (Taka from Takakage and moto from Terumoto) He trained for 11 years and during these 11 years he also did many Ďside jobsí to gain money and experience, such as being a bodyguard for hire. With the money he bought a stronger arm with some special features such as the coil gun launcher. On the eve of his familyís murder and the day before his birthday he came home to fine the doors broken in, and several dead bodies on the floor one of them was his Sensei. He looked at one of the other bodies and saw the Yoshigawa family crest on his hitatare. He grabbed his fatherís sword which Takakage had taken from the house, put on his finest clothes, and his fatherís armour (which he had stolen from the house) and left the dojo one last time to exact his revenge.

--- In the interest of time Iím going to leave the details of the battle out---

He finds out that his uncle had taken over the clan so he could use its funds to create a dimensional portal so he could extend his reach of power over the universe. Takamoto ruins his plans by stabbing the crystal that powers the gate while itís turned on causing the wormhole to become unstable and sucks Takamoto, Ieyasu and several other men into the portal before it collapses and explodes. They wake up on Felarya.

----- The story still hasnít been written I donít know what happens next but heís been in Felarya for sometime and is now living in a tavern in Negav, it is unknown if Ieyasu is alive since he ran off into the jungle as soon as he came too.---------------------------------

I'm a little confused by the Japanese terms, Bushido-Bro. Perhaps if you described what they appreared to be, then gave the name of each item in brackets, that would be a little less confusing. :3 But otherwise nice work. ^.^

It's time to start the roleplay! ^.^ I'm gonna do my best, and I expect no less from the rest of you! ....Nyan, let's hope this works... :/ This introduction applies to the players who are starting out in Negav.

Last night, you had the strangest dream yet. After all the usual stuff had happened, seeing the sunken moon and trying to dive to it, you find yourself in a taver called the Drunken Goblin, sitting in the back of the room with a few other people claiming to have had dreams similar to yours. You Don't hear any ambient noise, as the tavern seems to be empty besides you and the others at your table. Then you hear that female's voice tell you that the people you see around that table will help you find your greatest desire under the water, and you will help them do the same. She then tells you to go to the tavern tomorrow when the sun is in the middle of the sky.

The next person who posts, I think, should be going into the Drunken Goblin tavern. The other players will already be at the table. Then you can take it from there.
