I've had an idea for a change to the disclaimer for a while.
What this does is change the clause where the end user is expected to contact the author to a clause where they have the option contact.
If they contact the author, they can say that they contacted and got approval when they credit the author. If they don't, they can simply credit.
What this allows authors to do is to "endorse" certain uses of their ideas. For example, if someone wants to make sure they're doing it right, they can contact the author who can give their approval. The person using the idea can then add a note to the credit saying that their usage is endorsed or approved.
This allows others to know that particular usage of the idea is a good example of the idea in question.
But if the author doesn't approve, the person can still use the idea.
In addition, if the author reads a story where their idea has been used but they didn't approve it because they were unable to be contacted. they could give their approval retroactively.
Another suggestion is about crediting itself.
Crediting people individually can be very tedious.
But, isn't linking to the source a form of credit?
Therefore, I propose this option be added to the disclaimer
Instead of people crediting the author of the idea, they can simply link to the page the wiki the idea came from.
This is far easier to do, especially if someone is using a lot of ideas from a certain section. For example, is someone uses 10 plants from the flora section in a story, they can just link the flora section instead of typing "credit to X for Y" 10 times.
In this way, people aren't expected to contact the author, but they have the option to.
EDIT: The poll is about the first suggestion, not the second.
Please forgive my poor wording and any spelling & mistakes, was quite early in the morning when I posted this.
