Hey guys, uh, is it still 2068 in Felarya? Sorry I've been away in a place called the "Real World" for a long time. So is it still '68? '69? '70?

Good question. I didn't even know there was a current year defined.
I've a feeling that some time has indeed gone by, probably at about the pace the average story moves along, so I'd estimate about 2070.

Felarya isn't a game world where time flows along with real time.
2068 is the beginning of the present day, the present "day" being all years following that. 2068 is when "modern" Felarya began.

.....So, everyday is the same in Felarya? Time just repeats itself? Well I suppose that would be true considering Felarya's place in existance.

He's just saying that Felarya has no set timeline, and everyone just tends to assume its 2068 in their stories since that represents the "present" Felarya that we all know.

Anime-Junkie seems to be saying something more along the lines of that the current general state of affairs in Felarya started in 2068... kind of like the beginning of the Fourth Age in The Lord of the Rings, or whatever is the current historical period in Japan. So any stories that take place in "modern-day" Felarya happen sometime not too long after that year, with flexibility allowed for long-term story arcs like biographies.
I should probably just look this up so I can say for sure...

That's going to lead to some ugly, ugly pileups in the future, if one or more writers come to different conclusions about how much time has elapsed between two events. Could lead to "squished" character development; people developing in the course of days what would normally take months or years.
Could also lead to paradoxical situations, even among stories by the same author; people being in two places at the same time, or travelling impossibly rapidly, or even inverting cause and effect!

The relevant wiki page seems to be this one, but it doesn't provide much clarification, in my opinion.

Meh, it's not like the majority of writers in this community even care enough to look up what year it is, or have character development or an internal continuity.

As long as someone picks a start point and keeps the continuity of their stories all sorted out, they should be fine. It just takes a little thinking. My series is going to cover a wide span of time, so I planned out the timeline and where all the major events fall months and months ago.

People usually take "present day Felarya" as their time to go and don't bother. I admit to just look at the wiki's timeline and be fine with that as long as I don't do anything stupid...

Yet myself, I try to carefully get things well sorted in my timeline, trying not to fall into paradoxes. It's hard and also the reason why I don't write that much. Being careful with your own stuff, trying to be as coherent as possible... takes time, but at least you are in control of what you're writing, not making big mistakes in what you do - you still can make some, though, no one is perfect, but being more careful helps in dealing with this.

No, that just means a large humanoid has sprinkled you with salt and various crushed herbs.

I am unsure if it was already said...but I believe 2068 is refering to the current events of the Manga...

A long time ago I asked Karbo when the present timeline in Felarya began, and he told me that it began after Anna was turned into a giant naga.

So as a story timeline I pretty much time things between how long Anna has been a naga and how long she hasn't as a marker for the past Felarya and present Felarya, so all events such as Katrika arriving to Felarya with Tanya are present events that happened sometime shortly after Anna became a giant naga.

Then we have events like Kaiten arriving to Felarya, which appear to have taken place at least two or more years before Anna became a giant naga, so from what I can understand from what Karbo told me all present events happen while Anna is a naga and all events before that are the past.
