| Let's try a classic roleplay, if we can get enough people. I'll play all the predators, shopkeepers, etc. that the characters encounter. If we get enough people, I'll choose a random location with a story for why you are all there. You'll slowly journey across the Felaryan landscapes, encountering what you will, and dying (It will happen.) Sign up your characters below, I'll start when we have 3. | |

| Is it OK if I play an immortal character? She's immortal in that she revives whenever she dies and she never ages. However, she can still die. | |

I suppose so, but what's the reason that she's immortal?

| I'm going to ask the broader question of "what guidelines should our characters follow?" In chat, you mentioned that there's something of a D&D style to your idea; using character levels as a sort of benchmark, what should our starting level be at or around? Do you want characters fresh out of basic training/magic apprenticeship/what-have-you with the clothes on their backs, a cheap basic weapon or two, and a few tricks; or do you want characters that are veterans with several years of practical experience, top-of-the-line gear, significant resources to draw upon, and a plethora of useful abilities? | |

This roleplay I will be acting LIKE a dm, but it will just be your characters exploring.

Gil Drigane is relatively young adventurer. He worked as a locksmith before he decided that his skills picking locks would pay better finding treasure. He carries two knives for cutting foes. They are both coated in venom. One being a paralytic venom, the other being poisonous. As a rogue, he is quite the slippery catch.

| Sorry for the delay; I'll have time to finish up my character this weekend. I might as well post the short verion now: Rylee Sandoval Female Vishmital Human Rylee is a Vishmital scout and explorer; even two centuries after landing, the Vishmital aren't even a fraction of the way through cataloging everything in Felarya. They have many people that work solo or in small groups to gather information on the plane and its inhabitants. While originally a project to find obvious dangers, it has since morphed into a large-scale study of Felarya and all of its aspects, with multiple supercomputers running algorithms to parse patterns out of all the data.
I promise the long version will be...well, a lot longer. Spoiler-worthy length at minimum.

| Name: Julie Ultimus Gender: Female Species: Viera, a rabbit-like race from the Final Fantasy series Skin/Fur Color: pale and bright Hair: long and naturally blond with a high ponytail Eye Color: cobalt blue Birthplace: Alara (A world that no longer exists. Nobody knows what happened to Alara, exactly, but all that remains now are 5 different shard worlds.) Weight and Height: Unknown, as she's never measured herself Age: Immortal, but unknown, as nobody knows of her past Equipment: Julie sometimes wears a white bow in her hair that changes colors depending on certain conditions. She also wears at least a bikini at almost all times, usually white. Usually, when she isn't cosplaying, Julie wears bright clothes, usually colored to give the appearance of a rainbow. Whatever other equipment she has is usually what she finds on her adventures. Otherwise, she made it herself, got it as a gift, or summoned it as Bound Equipment. Abilities: Julie can magically go between worlds through portals that she can create at almost any time. She can control which world she appears in, but she can't determine exactly where she appears in that world. She can also sense auras. Julie can also cast many spells, learning new ones almost instantly. She has mastered the use of metamagic, opening up a bunch of possibilities. She can sense auras naturally, allowing her to sense others and various aspects about them. She can also breathe in any sinky substance, like quicksand, no matter how deep she is in it. She can also use her ponytail similarly to having a third hand. Limitations: Julie requires a special resource in her body called mana to cast spells. If she uses too much mana over a period of time, she grows tired or may even fall unconscious. Her mana recovers over time, but she can use the Diminished Casting metamagic to use less mana while making her spells weaker. Her Augmented Casting makes her use more mana, but makes her spells more potent. She can cast spells through Blood Magic, but that takes some of her life force instead of mana. Also, while using Blood Magic, most healing effects do almost nothing. Bio: Julie is a young, adventurous girl who travels to other worlds in an attempt to find out about her past. As of yet, nothing she did bore fruit. Not even the gods of the many worlds she's been to know of her history. All she knows is her birthplace. She's just now starting to learn of her powers. She's always looking out for the best solution to any problem she faces, turning to violence only as a last resort. Something Julie loves to do is cosplay. She also tends to end up getting messy or stuck in quicksand. Usually, this happens willingly, as she loves it, which she tries to hide from others at times. However, she usually fails to do so. | So I must apologize; "this weekend" quickly turned into next. That said, I've got Rylee finished, and close to half her description wound up being a description of her gear. Such will be the curse of every Vishmital character I create in the near future, I fear. - Rylee Sandoval:
Rylee SandovalArt Credit: Mitch Mohrhauser Female Vishmital Human Age: 59 Height: 173cm Skin Color: Fair Hair Color: Brown Eye Color: Brown “Oh, learning is so much fun.”- Rylee Personality:Rylee likes knowing things. She doesn’t have any particular reason for wanting to know; she just wants to know. She’s also an unrepentant gossip and a rapid speaker, at least among other Vishmital. Among strangers or mere acquaintances, she’s more taciturn and spends a lot more time listening than talking…though she’ll talk the ears off of the other Vishmital about it later. She’s rather easy-going, and willing to try just about anything that promises new experiences to share, so long as it’s not too insane, though she does default to a more skeptical view towards activities suggested by non-Vishmitals or people she doesn’t know very well. She’s never been able to hold an interest for long; a job as a surveyor was an excellent chance for her to be able to jump between different tasks as often as she wanted. Physical Appearance:“She’s a Vishmital? I thought they looked…well, less normal.”- A Negavian merchant after being told one of his customers was a Vishmital The best word to describe Rylee’s looks is average. While thanks to magic, technology, and no shortage of odd fashions, oddly-colored hair and eyes (usually rather bright and colorful) are far from unheard of in Felarya, they’re still noteworthy for most citizens of Negav; compared to them, Rylee could even be described as ‘boring’. Chest-length brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin make her about as average-looking as one could imagine. This has helped her remain unnoticed in the crowds of Negav on a regular basis. To someone knowledgable on the subject, her jumpsuit would give her away as a Vishmital, but to most people, it’s no more distinctive than the dozen of other uniforms and fashions of various organizations. Her body language also doesn’t stand out, with the exception of her hands, which are almost always moving in conversation, rapidly moving through a dozen different signs per sentence with a speed that can be tiring to keep up with even for other Vishmitals. Rylee’s normal outfit is a somewhat standard Vishmital jumpsuit, with a yellow-brown torso and upper arms and a white lower body and legs, over which she wears a faded navy blue vest with matching gloves, chaps, and boots. While not as skintight as some people expect from the more civilian, less rugged wear often seen in Negav, Rylee’s outfit still manages to show off a bit of her athletic figure. Her gauntlets and greaves, despite being made of rigid material, are thin and tight-fitting. As a Vishmital, she has access to the full output of the loomships, and the various synth materials that make up her outfit would seem like magic to a modern person; the material thickens against the cold but breathes in the heat, wicking sweat away from the body, and still provides a decent amount of protection against light impacts and resists cutting, tearing, or running. While not as effective as the kind of full military wear that’s been known to survive the full trip through a predator, it still provides a decent level of protection against a wide variety of hazards, and is rated for use as a wetsuit or, in conjunction with a mask, for use in low-pressure atmospheres. History:Born well after the first Vishmital ships landed, Rylee grew up on a Felarya that had been tamed, at least in a few small areas, by the empire. To her, Felarya wasn’t the dangerous uncharted land that it was to many humans on the plane, but the relatively peaceful, magical land visible from out the windows of an old habitat ship, with a small village of natives living in the shadow of the nearby cruiser-turned-bunker that ensured that predators kept a very wide berth around the shiptown. It was safe enough that, as they got older, Rylee and her friends could go sightseeing in skimmers, so long as they stayed within the borders defined by the few patrol frigates that acted as watchtowers. Unlike most of her fellow Vishmital, though, Rylee had both a wanderlust and the will to follow it; as such, she trained as a surveyor, the whiskers of the Vishmital empire. With over three decades of surveyor experience under her belt, Rylee has been to plenty of varied environments in Felarya; most of it, however, has been in the safer areas. Rylee tends to spend only a few days to a week out in the wilderness before staying for a few months in a city, usually Negav. Despite sticking to safer areas, she’s still been able to gather a wealth of information, mostly about social and economic interactions, and she tries her best to use tips from the Vishmital data centers on where the best spots to see new and interesting events happen to get a good view. Gear:"I've heard plenty of offworlders have a saying along the lines of 'an artisan blames not their tools', but I think they're just jealous of what we've got."- Rylee ⁃ VKT-17B “Sarkanya” Laser/Electro Pistol: A medium-sized pistol popular with Vishmital security forces, bodyguards, and other non-military personnel, the VKT-17 series is notable for its secondary less-lethal electrolaser mode, which delivers a high-voltage, low-amperage shock via a channel of ionized air. In lethal mode, each laser pulse is capable of vaporizing approximately a six-centimeter diameter sphere of water (or similarly-sized chunk of flesh); against a standard humanoid target, the nonlethal mode results in instant incapacitation lasting up to a minute. The VKT-17E is the primary pistol of VISA on Felarya, while the older A through D models are decently popular with Vishmital civilians who need some form of firearm for their work; the military prefers the JJP-989 series for greater penetration and lethality as well as its compatibility with larger power supplies. The Sarkanya is a rugged and simple design, featuring a removable, rechargeable power supply, a focusing array with automatic anti-clutter shutter, and a diode rated for 140% of standard power (auxiliary cooling systems can raise this over 300%, but generally make the gun too bulky for normal use). Civilian models have a hardware limiter that still allows for highly lethal damage against unprotected threats, but generally cannot penetrate serious armor effectively, and civilian power packs generally only last for a few dozen shots per charge. The pistol itself comes with only a simple data link, but can easily mount any number of additional modules via standard rails. ⁃ General-purpose scanner visor: As part of her job is getting new information and sending it back to home base, Rylee has a scanning unit that takes the form of a visor. She normally lets it hand around her neck, where, while it doesn’t active scan for very much, it still records sound and monitors the atmosphere. The device includes a dedicated uplink to the Vishmital data centers, which make it good for browsing data collected by others or just playing games during downtime. As surveyors travel far and wide, their scanners are designed to take a beating, and in addition to a rugged durability and the ability to work when battered (rumors that device testing included having a naga run over it for a full day are so far unfounded), it is also waterproof, resistant to harmful electromagnetic radiation, and has hardened sensors that can survive inputs an order of magnitude above standard measurement ranges unharmed. Its battery used to have a lifetime warranty, but most such warranties have been rendered null and void on Felarya. ⁃ Multitool: No civilization, once they reach a certain level of technological achievement, will fail to invent the multitool. For a Vishmital surveyor, their multitools are some of the most versatile and robust available outside of military-grade technology. With over a hundred sanctioned uses and ten times as many unofficial ones, a surveyor’s multitool is designed for use in the most inhospitable environments that the designers could find, and some they could only imagine. Key uses include a plasma cutting/welding torch, omni-interface plug/jack, laser scanning array, positional tracker, flashlight, firestarter, physical knife, compact battery, data drive, water purifier, heat-powered recharging array, and a selection of tools for disassembling or fixing VIshmital technology. All this equipment makes it significantly bulkier than a standard Terran multitool, being almost 25cm in length and over half a kilo in weight.

| So yeah, I withdrew my last submission because I couldn't think of a logical reason for that partcular character to show up in Akaptor, so I'm submitting a different one. Also, I feel like I should point out my last character was never actually accepted... ^^; Anyway, here's my new submission. - Beryl's Bio:
Name: Beryl Race: Small Naga Gender: Female Age: 20 Height: 7''9" Length: 43 ft Skin tone: Fair Hair Colour: Brown Eye colour: Brown Scale colour: Blue and red alternating bars Underbelly Scales: Yellow Predation: Opportunistic Food Category: 1 inch to 7 feet; Favourite: Nekos
-Appearance- Beryl is a colourful small naga, who can typically be found wandering Tolmeshal Forest. She has long, silky brown hair, smooth, fair skin, and observant brown eyes. The scales on her tail are coloured deep blue and deep red, forming bars of one after the other down the length of her tail, and her underbelly scales are a vibrant yellow. She can usually be found wearing a black beret on her head, and she carries a large brown bag of art supplies on a strap slung across her body, the bag resting at either her left or right hip. She wears nothing besides this, like most wild predators, which shows off her well-rounded breasts and her cute torso figure.
-Personality- Beryl is an artist who loves to paint things that catch her attention, which can range anywhere from people, even larger predators, to inanimate objects. Whenever she finds something that looks interesting, she'll get excited, often describing what she sees with artistic passion. Otherwise, she is a very gentle naga who cares greatly about those important to her. She likes things that stand out as unique or unusual, and usually makes paintings in their likeness. Beryl treasures everything she has in her life, from her friends, to the hat she wears, and any time she loses something, no matter how insignificant, she'll become very upset, often breaking into tears followed by a precisely focused anger which persists until she either retrieves what she lost, is comforted by someone she trusts, or is given an apology (which one of these will work best depends on what is lost). She carries around her art supplies everywhere she goes, as well as many of her favourite paintings to show off to people. When painting, she can become quite irritated if she can't get something to come out properly. She also hates being interrupted while she works. She is quite ditzy and scatterbrained, and has habits of forgetting things moments after they occur, or being oblivious to things that are rather obvious. This also sometimes makes her forget things about herself, and makes her come off as a hypocrite. She also doesn't have a lot of self-control, especially concerning her perverted wiles as a breast-lover.
-Background- Beryl was born in a naga village hidden somewhere in the northern part of Tolmeshal Forest. Her mother, however, had been afflicted with a curse that affected her first born child, namely Beryl. The effects of the curse gave Beryl a birth defect that prevented her from keeping down live food, as any foreign movement inside her body activates an involuntary reaction that causes her to throw up all the contents of her stomach. The defect also prevented Beryl from producing poison to paralyze her prey, which made the problem much more significant. In order to stave off starvation, Beryl's parents decided she could only eat fruits, but unfortunately, there were not many growing in the vicinity of the village. During her childhood, Beryl attempted to eat a neera, but due to her condition, she was unable to do so. Sensing her distress, the neera took pity on her, and decided to take her on as his apprentice, teaching her a style of painting that only certain people could perform. Showing a talent for it straight away, Beryl became a very talented artist, and found that painting things took her mind off her yearning to eat what other nagas ate. In time, and through hard work and determination, she came to master this style of artistry, and through it, developed creativity and highly dexterous muscle control. Her proud mother, sensing a new hope for her child's life, gave Beryl a present that she found in the possession of a human she ate; a black beret that, according to the human, was something a lot of artists wear. Her neera teacher recognized her mastery of the craft and was also proud of Beryl, and taught her an extremely advanced style of art that incorporated magic. She came to grasp this magical artistry very well, becoming skilled at using her artistic ability to defend herself, and soon, even catch living prey (something which her teacher had mixed feelings about)! Eventually, Beryl decided that she wanted to travel around and find more and more interesting things to paint, and her parents knew that she was ready, and allowed her to leave the village, as long as she returned every so often to show them her paintings.
-Abilities- Beryl is extremely coordinated, and is ambidextrous to boot. She is also able to think on a few different levels at a time, at least where her artistic work is concerned. She is naturally creative, and isn't afraid to take risks in her art. She is very talented in the style of painting her neera teacher taught her, called the "Three-Pronged Painting Arts", which involves using two brushes held in the hands, and one brush that connects to the tip of Beryl's tail. With this, she can paint high-quality paintings in mere minutes, which, in the dangers of Felarya's wild, is time well saved, as it allows her to paint, then leave the area before any predators catch on to her. Beryl is able to defend herself with her artistry, applying a magic ability that allows her to inflict targets with status effects using 'hex marks', which can either be painted directly on a target, on the ground or other such surface as a trap, or in the air to be thrown onto a target from afar. Her magic arts also allow her to bring simple drawings to life. Applying her creativity, she has also been able to invent a variety of physical combat maneuvers which make use of her coordination and precise muscle control. For example, a move she calls "Spring Tail Cannon" involves coiling her tail like a spring, then pushing outwards with all of her tail muscles at once to strike a target. She can also use her co-ordination to twist her tail around under her like a spring and use that to jump short distances. Her main defense against magic involves summoning painted objects to take the effects of spells in her place. She has no specific weaknesses, but she isn't very good at taking hits either physical or magical. Her magic has a number of drawbacks as well; hex marks last longest when painted directly on a target. If painted in the air and thrown or used as traps, they will become less effective the longer the time between their drawing and when they afflict a target. Objects and animals brought to life from drawings only last a certain length of time, which is shorter the more complex the drawing. They will also disappear if something collides with them.
-Diet- Beryl likes to eat both tiny and human-sized prey alike, meaning nekos, humans, neeras, tomthumbs, etc. She is afflicted with a curse that causes her to regurgitate anything foreign that moves inside her body, so she must paralyze her prey with an effect sigil or knock it out using in a confrontation before eating it. Sometimes, she paints her more interesting-looking preys' pictures before eating them, and she's always willing to show them their picture if they ask. If desperate, she always has a fresh supply of fruits in her art bag if she needs it. Artists of any kind can easily escape being eaten by Beryl, for being an artist herself, she holds a great deal of respect for them. But she's no fool; if you claim to be one, she'll need to see some proof. Although, so much as a well-done drawing in the dirt will do to impress her. Beryl greatly enjoys a workout, and likes to be active. This means that any prey that makes the hunt hard for her will rise on her menu, as she feels that being able to earn her meals makes her a better person, and it also works up her appetite. Since nekos are generally more physically adept and more difficult to catch than other prey species, they are at the top of her menu.

| She can draw her own bird. Or maybe a turtle. *gasp* A speed turtle! XD No, but seriously, she'll take care of it.
Also, nice tip for you, not all of Akaptor is time-switching sand. I asked Karbo about it while making the sand mermaids and he told me that over time a lot of the sand as lost that effect, so in the present day of Felarya, there are actually only wide patches of it in different spots around the desert. Still, nobody knows where these patches start or end, so it's effectively a moot point, but I figured it'd be helpful to know.
