PostSubject: You in Felarya III   Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:43 am

Since the old 'You in Felarya post 2' thread hasn't been updated in over a week, I thought it would be best to make a new one so it would have a clean slate. I think I speak for everyone when I say that the title speaks for itself. You know, one moment you're eating your breakfast cereal, the next you're in Felarya's forests running away as fast as you can from a predator that wants to make YOU breakfast, that sort of thing. Of course, your OC's and Karbo's preds can join in on the action as well! After all, a trip to Felarya would be incredibly boring without a couple of predators and some nekos thrown into the mix. And as always, be courteous to other RPers, don't god mod, don't kill off another person, have fun, et cetera, et cetera.

Now, without further adieu, I give you...'You in Felarya III'!! Have at it!!

((Question: What limits are in play?

At first, it was literally what the title said: What you see is what you get. Then people started bringing in their personas (Them, technically) or giving buffs due to the recognition that it was a fantasy realm.))

(Ah, very good question. Now that you mention it, there are a few things that come to mind...

One: Like I said up there, no god modding. You know no pwning the other player or anything like that.

Two: I don't want this turning into 'Dragonball: Felarya'. You know, people being able to shoot super ultra awesome rays of destuction causing craters within a 6 mile radius, stuff like that. Can there be fights in this? Yes, but nothing that can PWN every predator in known existence.

Three: Absolutely NO breaking the fourth wall. After all, this is supposed to be as if you were really brought to Felarya, which you thought was just a fantasy world that Karbo created.

Four: Like the title says, this is you in Felarya. You. Not some persona you made up. You. You can bring in your OCs, but you have to part of the rp as well.

Other than that, I really don't have any limitations. Anybody's welcome to join if they want to. Anyway, since no one's posted yet, I'll go ahead and start this off.)

Brent walked out of his apartment, putting a laptop computer in his backpack along with his iPod and some comic books as he walked towards his car. 'I hope I get to his house on time. Man, I hate it when I decide to leave at the last minute. He then remembered that he had left something in the house, so he did a 180' towards his apartment...and ran straight into a tree.

"What the...?!" he said to himself, rubbing his head in pain, as he looked at the tree he just ran into. He then noticed a few things. One, this tree was extremely gigantic. Two, he absolutely no where within where he was a minute ago. "Wait a minute...am I...no, no, no, this can't be. I mean...I'm in Felarya! This can't be real! I mean, Felarya's just a fantasy, and yet...I'm here!" After sitting down for a bit to recover from the initial shock, he began to look around for a good shelter so that he could hide from any predators that were looking for something to eat.

“Sonova-! Slow it down!” Doug yelled as another car on the highway whipped around him to pass. It wasn’t that he was in a particularly irritable mood, the yelling helped him to stay awake while driving. He disliked driving at night, but his studies took longer than he thought. It would be after eleven o’clock before he got back home. “Californian drivers, I’m already speeding! You’re going what? Ninety?!” He complained at no one. He shook his head again to clear it out, and tried to find a more upbeat song on the radio. He was seriously considering pulling over to get a coke, or something else with caffeine. If he dozed off and drifted onto oncoming traffic, insomnia would be the least of his worries.

Suddenly, the suburban jerked. Doug instinctively slammed on the brakes, and the suburban skid to a stop in a cloud of dust. At first Doug thought he had fallen asleep and drove off the highway. Then the unreality of the situation dawned on him.

It was day. The highway and the sparse traffic was completely gone. It was replaced by a forest with huge trees.

“I’m dreaming. I’ve fallen asleep at the wheel. I’m going to crash into something unless I wake myself up,” Doug murmured in disbelief, putting the suburban into park. He took out the keys and used one to scratch his arm. It hurt, but nothing changed. Nor did anything further happened. The forest continued, and the desert highway remained stubbornly absent, the sun still in what should have been the night sky.

“Maybe I’ve already hit something, and I’m in a coma or something,” Doug wondered. But then he thought further on it. His cognitive abilities were still intact. He could still form words and sentences without difficulty. His memory was intact, short term and long term. After a moment, he got out of the car. He knelt and plucked a flower. He saw it, felt it, smelled it, and heard it when he flicked it. If this was a hallucination or dream, it was a very comprehensive one. All the different areas of the brain were either producing exactly the same hallucination, or were working properly after all.

Still his conscious mind rebelled. This was impossible! Real as it appeared, this couldn’t actually be! Maybe it was an elaborate hoax, someone had created a vast room, drugged him and put him and his suburban in here. He looked around.

Looking behind the suburban, he noticed something. Skid marks from his tires in the dirt. They began abruptly, one for each tire, and beyond, there was no tire tracks. As if something had picked up his vehicle and dropped it on the ground here. Even if the suburban was driven to this point, there should have been something.

On an impulse, Doug got back into the suburban and turned on the radio. Static. He tried a different station. Also static. Every single frequency, FM and AM, was static. Nothing was being picked up.

It was beginning to dawn on him that this was far too elaborate to be a hoax, and too complete to be a hallucination. This was reality. And treating it as otherwise would do him no good. Even if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t hurt anything, and keeping his mind active would help at least. He wasn’t going to solve how he got here anytime soon, but he could make a stab at staying alive now that he was here.

“At least I fueled up before I left…” Doug said to himself. It would be a long time before he found a gas station. Stranded in the middle of an unknown forest, he reviewed his supplies. The suburban could go for a day of constant driving before needing a refill. Driving in a desert, he fortunately picked up a ten gallon jug of water back in the city. Food, however, was another issue, his supplies consisting of only a big hamburger and a large side of tater tots he picked up for the road, and a few trail mix bars in the glove box. The closest thing he had to weaponry was the Truck Club. Rather ironic, it would make a suitable club alright. He also had a small first aid kit here.

The sound of a crash interrupted his thoughts. It sounded like a vehicle hitting something. At first he wondered if it was him, back on that highway. But nothing happened. Then he heard someone else shouting. Did the same thing happen to someone else? If so, maybe he could get some answers from him. Doug started up the suburban’s engine and drove in the direction of the noise.

"...and so you see, I have a few of my hobbies in my pocket; drawing," Spenser said as he grabbed a picture of a neko from the pocket of his blue vest, "...target practice," he held up a target sheet pierced by small holes, "...and hitting on your neighbor." He grinned as he held up an abruptly drawn love note on notebook paper.

"Right...fascinating." Zack said and yawned.

A white SUV pulled up to the sidewalk.

"Well, seeya later."

"Yeah, seeya." Spenser muttered. "May as well go to the end of the sidewalk..." Spenser thought, and he trudged on to the end of the street with his backpack in tow. "Jeez, what a boring day. Everything's always so samey. Same old teachers, same old students, same old stupid, stupid homework. -Sigh-"

No sooner had he finished speaking that everything quickly went black for a moment - when he could see again, he noticed he was dangling from an enormous tree by a backpack strap.

"Hoo boy...well...I guess that's new." He said to himself shakily, trying to calm himself from freaking out at the tremendous distance between him and the ground.

"Okay then..." He slowly lifted an arm up, and grabbed the branch he was hanging from. He made sure the backpack straps were no longer attached, and began to pull himself up. His backpack's straps finally snapped and the backpack careened to the ground, emitting a loud *THUMP* from below. "Well...so much for my homework."

As Spenser slowly made his way down the tree, he surveyed his surroundings. "Wow...is this...?" he pulled the picture of the neko out of his pocket. "No way, it can't be Felarya. If it is...I wonder if Mica is in here somewhere." He reached the ground, and sat down to rest. "Ugh...how am I going to do this...I need to find a city somehow."

He reached into his pocket and realized there was something made of cold metal in it. "Woah! My pocket knife! I must have forgotten to take it out of my pocket...wow, I would have gotten kicked out of school if I got caught with this...oh well, it doesn't matter now..." he said and rolled his eyes as he slowly got up and moved through the jungle...

As he kept looking for shelter to hide from a predator, he noticed that a car was driving in his direction. He walked up to the car and waved hello to the person inside it. He then walked up to the driver's side and asked, "Hey...um...this is going to sound like a stupid question, but you wouldn't happen to have been randomly teleported here, would you?"

Doug stopped the car as the other person approached and rolled down the window. This stranger looked just as out of place as he himself did. Plus there was the crashed car. From all intents and purposes it seemed his story was going to be the same as Doug’s.

“Randomly teleported? Good as explanation as any, I suppose,” Doug answered. “I have no idea how I got here. One moment I’m driving down a highway at night, the next I’m slamming on my brakes in this rain forest. I heard the crash over here and decided to take a look.”

“I’m Doug, of the USA. It looks like you had bad luck coming here,” Doug said, looking at the totaled car against the tree. “If you’ve been stranded here, wherever here is, I suppose it would be best to stay together. Safety in numbers and all that.”

“Truth be told, it did me good to see you. It helps me to convince myself that this isn’t a trauma induced hallucination or something of that nature.”

"I don't know how I got here, either. I mean, one moment, I'm driving to a friend's house, the next, I've crashed into a tree. Anyway, the name's Brent, and oddly enough, I'm from the United States as well. As for sticking together, I could not agree more. Question is, where the heck do we go? After all, we don't even know where we are, and the only thing I can think of is walking in a random direction and hoping for the best. Unless of course, you have any other ideas. Given our situation, I'm open to ANYTHING at this point." said Brent.

He would've mentioned that they were in Felarya, but he was operating under the assumption that Doug was someone who hadn't even heard of Karbo, Felarya, the Felarya forums, or anything of the sort. He would, however, make sure to keep an eye out for any predators so that they wouldn't be made a quick lunch.

"Ugh...I've been walking for hours, and still no sign of anything!" Spenser looked around at the miles of identical forest. "...and from the looks of it, I'm going to be walking for quite awhile longer." He sighed, and noticed that it was beginning to get dark out. "Well that's just great. All alone in an endless jungle, with who-knows-what lurking around, and its getting dark...and something tells me there's gonna be a lot more who-knows-what wandering around after dark."

No sooner did he finish speaking than he heard the crunch of a dry leaf near by.

"Oh crap..."

He frantically looked around for a place to hide, and noticed a small, hollowed out tree nearby. He ran to it and slid inside, peering out to see what it was he heard.

"Hmm?" Brent turned around as he thought he had heard something. He looked around for a few seconds before noticing that someone was hiding in a hollowed out tree. He looked in his direction and took a few steps toward him. "Hey, dude, relax. It's just us me and him out here." he said, pointing to Doug. Seeing how he didn't look like a Felarya native, he asked him, "Would I be correct in assuming that you were randomly brought here out of the blue?"

“Actually, I think we shouldn’t go anywhere,” Doug said. “We’ll be missed before long, and people should soon be looking for us. There’s no sense in making their job any harder by wandering around blindly. Plus, I’ve only got one tank of fuel, and whatever we can siphon out of your car. Before we start using it up, I’d like to know where we… are… headed…Blast it all, why didn’t I think of this sooner!” Doug said, eagerly opening the glove box and pulling out a small device with a screen. He plugged a cord coming from it into the cigarette lighter.

“This should tell us where we are. Thank goodness for GPS,” Doug said, turning on the device. After a second the screen came on, stating it was searching for a satellite signal. However, in moments, the screen said that no signal could be found. Doug grumbled, turned off the engine, and got out of the car, holding the GPS device. Still it said no signal could be found.

“Blast it, this thing worked not a half hour ago!” Doug said, turning off the device. “How did it break?” He unplugged it and put it back into the glove box. He looked for Brent and saw him looking in a hollowed tree and speaking.

“Hey Brent, is there someone else over there?” Doug asked.

"Yeah, there is. Just spotted someone hiding in that hollowed out tree over there. Don't know if he'll come out or not. Anyway, that's odd about your GPS not working, unless...hmm...maybe, just maybe your GPS system isn't broken. If that's the case, then that means that we've been brought to a place that has no GPS, no sattelites, no electronics, or anything of the sort. Sounds crazy, but no crazier than what's already transpired." said Brent, hinting about their true whereabouts.

Spenser peeked out of the tree and looked around, and saw two people, one was fiddling with a GPS system. "Oh, good. I thought you guys might have been some sort of predator...but yeah, I was teleported here. You guys too?"

“No electronics would make sense with the Amazon, but Satellites? It’s a global system. The GPS would pick them up,” Doug said. He glanced at Brent. “If you’re trying to say we’ve been sent back in time or deposited on another planet or something like that, just say it. This is a crazy situation, I won’t frown on crazy explanations. But right now, we should focus on surviving this situation. If you know something that would help, let me know.”

Doug looked over at the third person. He seemed somewhat younger than himself and Brent. “Hello there. I’m Doug, and that’s Brent. Yes, we’ve been brought here too. I think we’d have the best chance of surviving if we stay together. Why don’t you stay with us?”

"Yep. Kind of funny, isn't it? I mean, all three of us just randomly brought here. Like Doug said, I'm Brent, and if you want to join us, you're more than welcome to. Anyway..." he said, focusing his attention on Doug, "...I'll go ahead and say what I mean, though you're going to think I'm legitimately insane when I do. Basically...this place...where we are...is called Felarya. In this place reside creatures like nagas, dridders, fairies, and other fairy tale creatures. Thing is...about this place, the creatures I just mentioned are around one hundred feet tall, and they like swallowing people...like us...whole. That's why I think it would be safe to find a good hiding place so said creatures don't...you know...eat us. .....Yeeaaaah, that's all I have to say on that." he said, now looking up at the sky, now expecting Doug and the other guy to start busting out laughing at him.

'I can't believe I just said that out loud. (sigh) Cue the laugh reel.' he thought to himself.

When Brent heard someone else talking, he then turned towards the other newcomer and said, "Oh, hello! I'm Brent! This right here's Doug, and...I have got his name yet." he said, pointing to Spenser. "So, how'd you get here? From what you said, it sounds like you came here on purpose."

“Felarya? That’s a work of fiction. An interesting read, but there’s so much scientifically wrong with it. It couldn’t exist.” Doug said, getting a few gas cans and a length of hose out of the back of the suburban. He began siphoning fuel out of Brent’s totaled car. “…But then again, teleporting cars and disappearing satellites also fall under that category. But what makes you think this is Felarya?”

“A fourth now? Just how many people did this happen to?” Doug asked, seeing the fourth person arrive.

"Well, the cars and sattelites are one thing, the gigantic trees are another, and the guy over in the hallowed trees said something about predators. Just a hypothethis, anyway. Nothing official unless a predator shows up. Eh, I'll just keep assuming it is Felarya since there isn't really any evidence to prove it ISN'T Felarya. Better safe than sorry. As for the guy that just showed up, I dunno. Rip in the time/space continuum, maybe? Anyway, you need any help siphoning the gas out of my car?" Brent asked. He wanted to ask if he was a Felarya forum user, but it would've been rude not to ask him if he needed help.

“No, I think I got things on this end, thanks. I hope you don’t mind, but I doubt any of us know enough about mechanics to get your car running again.” Doug said, setting aside a filled gas can and filling another. “Personally, I’m still doubtful to say the least. But if you three have reason to believe this is Felarya, then I can go with that.”

“In which case, that would change our entire strategy. No one we want to find us will be looking for us, and remaining unnoticed will be essential. Now this crash so far has attracted the attention of two people so far, myself and Dan. I’d say we’d best scoot before something a little bigger decides to investigate. But we need to decide whether to go by foot or by vehicle. The suburban would be noisier, but it would be a lot faster than running. Something I’d rather not do for long, I’m not in the best of shape.”

“It is also imperative that we get protection. No offense Dan, but one man isn’t much on Felarya. Even if you arm the rest of us, commandos we ain’t. If you know where to find this…naga we should leave at once. Can you tell us where to find her?”

Doug finished filling the gas cans and put them into the back of the suburban. As he did so, he thought about what the others said. If this really was Felarya, he knew a few people that wouldn’t eat them on the spot, and a few that they would have to avoid at all costs.
