PostSubject: Moros   Moros Icon_minitimeThu Jul 29, 2010 12:48 pm

This is the first time I post a bio of one of my character, and really sorry if it is too long and hard to read (though I have asked someone to proofread it) XD

This is the bio of Moros, the Antagonist in my story (still under construction in my mind, lol). He was some kind of soul golem, a golem that operated with input a soul into it.

Feel free to comment. Welcome to constructive feedback ^^

Background Story

Pre-Felarya:

Moros was immortal and powerful creation who belonged to a very far away dimension, being created by a Creator with the only mission: Driving people of a planet that he paid a visit to their own doom. His counterpart is Auruncus, another creation who was created the same time and has an opposite object with him: Averting a calamity of a planet where he arrived.

It seemed that their meaning of existence was all about a strange game: one destroyed a planet while another help another planet avoid its own disaster. Both of them obeyed the invisible rules of balance of that dimension: once Moros had done his job and moved to another planet, Auruncus would immediately moved to another place. Rinse and repeat.

As a result of this “game”, whenever a planet met its own doom, somewhere in the dimension, another planet was saved. And it had continued until one day, Moros felt too tired of the repetitiveness and meaningless of his work. He wanted to quit, but as long as he was inside this dimension, he must obey the rule that set by his Creator and be forced to do his mission until there was nothing more to destroy. If he tried to resist it, he would suffer an unbearable pain, forcing him continue the job. However, he could be set free, if he achieve one of two opinions: Arriving to some place outside this dimension, which he couldn't do it on his own accord, or winning over a fight with his counterpart, Auruncus. And the game would be ended when one of them got destroyed

Normally, Moros and Auruncus avoided each other by choosing different places to go because both of them didn't want get themselves destroyed. However, this time, Moros decided to defeat Auruncus in order to gain his abosulate freedom so that he could be freed from the invisible rules of this dimension.

The planet Terune was the place where Moros started his plan. As always, he first drove Scienitc people, inhabitants of Terune, to destroy their own home by invoking their own greed and arrogance. By the time they realized, Terune was nearly died and it wasn't too long for it to eventually meet its own death , dragging along the existence of its inhabitants. Not having any choice, Scientic people were forced to leave behind their devastated homeland and placed all their hope into a huge dimension portal. It was a gamble that had more chance to lose than win, because it was a one-way ticket, and if the destination wasn't a place that they could live on, then it would be their own doom. At that time, instead of driving these refugees into their own end, Moros made use of the portal to lead them to the planet Scimag, where Auruncus was doing his salvation.

At Scimag, Moros took advantage on the conflicts between the Scientic people and the native inhabitants of the planet, turning it into a large-scaled war. There was no home for Scienic people return, so they held onto the new place and fought for their own survival. This moment was the darkest one in the history of the planet Scimag, when the Scientic stood up on their won and fight alone against all the sentient races of Scimag, including Agiean people and humanoid creatures that could only be found in old legends. This war, the Greatest war, was the challenge that Moros sent to Auruncus.

Being furious because of such an evil act, Auruncus swore that he never forgive Moros. It was the first time both of these powerful beings did their missions on the same planet: one tried to to drive the planet to meet its own doom, while another tried to stop the meaningless war. Before the end of the Greatest War about 100 years, Auruncus managed to make both factors realizing about the existence of the third party whom tried to take advantage on their wars, and they temporary stopped the war to deal with the problems existing inside their own force.

Being aware that the tide had turn its favour to his opponent Moros decided to duel to death with Auruncus. On a stormy night, the two powerful beings clashed each other and their fight last for months, making the whole planet tremble. Some geographical, environmental and dimensional factors of Scimag had been changed drastically due to the fight. Neither of them won the fight as they were equal in term of power, like the clash between the strongest spear and and the strongest shield, which only resulted in their own destruction. Fortunately, after losing almost of their power and their own physical bodies, they realized something wrong about the fight and stopped it in time, then retreated.

Flying toward the North, the snowy region of Scimag, in his soul form, Moros intent to hide there for a while before deciding what to do next. Along the way, he wandered into a dimension rift, caused by the unstable dimension due to the fight between him and Auruncus. And where he arrived was a world called Felarya, the world of beauty and dangers.

Felarya:

It was the first time Moros came to Felarya. Due to the fact that Felarta didn't belong to his dimension, Moros had achieved what he used to yearn for: the absolute freedom, without any restrain from the old dimension. However, due to his loss of power and physical body, he knew that he wouldn't last long at this dangerous world. “Knowing your enemy, knowing yourself to win the fight” was what he believed, so he started to explore the new world.

Even though not able to access any powerful ability like before, his ability of possessing soul was still intact. In order to fully understand the world, he had to experience it himself, so he often borrowed the body of the inhabitant of this world during his journey (expect giant predators and powerful individuals, who were too strong for him at that time). When encountering dangers, he immediately left the hosts and theirs owners to the fate, then seek for another body.

Eventually, he started to understand how the world Felarya worked around and experienced many new things: this was his first time to explore a world without thinking much about how to destroy it and have to avoid himself from getting into dangerous, which he never did when still possessing his original power. These new experience made him excite and take a liking on Felarya.

Fortunately, being a wandering soul had many advantages on Felarya as most of dangers couldn't harm an astral being. But he couldn't do many things without a “real” physical body. Borrowing bodies from native people was just a temporary solution, so he decided to create a soul vessel for his own use.

During his journey of bringing doom in the old dimension, Moros obtained a vast and knowledge belongs to the civilizations of many planets that had been destroyed by his hand. One of these bizarre knowledge was about creating a soul vessel, a kind of artificial body that operate with a soul put inside as a way to save people with incurable diseases or extend their longevity. His current situation at Felarya was a perfect chance to put these knowledge into a practical use. Continuing to possess other people, he made use of their physical bodies, equipments and money in order to find necessary materials and tools. And his personal workshop was located inside a deep cavern near a river (which was near Safe Harbor nowadays). During this time, many people who got possessed woke up in the hand or the stomach of a predator without knowing what the heck was going on.

Creating something by himself was once again, a whole new experience to Moros, the one who only knew how to take advantage on the achievement of other people and destroy everything. Of course, it was his first time to do something like that, so failure was inevitable.“Failure is the mother of success”, and he always had time to redo it again in this world. In the end, he was success in creating a soul vessel for himself. But the first product was a total failure: it had too many flaws, and a giant naga had accidentally crushed it under her belly scale without even knowing about it. However, “Give up” was never a word inside his dictionary, so he continued his “Trail and Error” process, dragging along with it more mysterious disappearance of humans on Felarya. Many version of the soul vessel was created, most of them had deadly weaknesses and got destroyed by Felaryan creatures, while other stuck somewhere such as on a slug girl's trail of slime.

Many decades had passed since the first time he arrived to Felarya, and finally, a perfect soul vessel had been created only for him. At that time, he had known more about Felarya and how the nature worked here, but it was still not enough. In order to explore it fully, he would need his old power, and currently, he only had one way to obtain it. Using his newest body, he started to hunt souls around Felarya, become a bizarre and mysterious predator in the form of a human who has his face covered with bandages.

Appearance:

+Soul Vessel (Physical Form):

An empty artificial body that Moros created for his own use, and he often traveled in this form. It had the appearance of a 1m9 tall human with short black hair. Being a artificial body, the whole body was cover with a pale skin that was cold, rough and hard and the face wasn't able to express any emotion, expect the eyes. Even they were just fake eyes created from some kind of material, they could still express something chaotic and evil of the owner hiding deep inside those black cold eyes.

In order to avoid attracting too much attention, he wore a black coat with long sleeves and a dark brown trouser along with a pair of leather gloves and leather boots, both black. The clothes covered almost of the body, expect the head, so he used bandages to cover the face, making him look like someone suffer from severe burnt, or a mummy to some people, so they called him "The Bandaged One" as he seemed never want to took these bandages off. This appearance often crept people out, but was still better than show the fake body around.

Being aware of the dangers of Felarya, , Moros had created a few spare soul vessel at his workshop, just in case his current got destroyed or stuck for whatever reason.

+Will-o' Wisp: (Astral Form)

This was the form that Moros was when first come to Felarya after losing his real physical body. After making his soul vessel, he rarely used this form again, unless the vessel got destroyed or stuck, or in some other special occasion (I.E: Scouting for information...)

Will-o' Wisp was a floating black ball emitting a dark purple light. Being an astral, it was invisible to naked eyes, though people whom possessed the ability to see spirit or had good sense of magic could still detect him in this form

Abilities:

+Soul Vessel:

The soul vessel required magical energy to operate. Fortunately, Felarya's soil contained a plentyful of this kind of energy inside it, so as long as the vessel touched the soil, it would be recharged constantly. If getting separated with the soil, it still could move until the battery inside it ran out.

Aside from seeing and hearing, Moros couldn't do things like a normal humans with his five senses. However, it also means that he didn't feel any pain, and his body was sturdy enough to stand again normal bullets. However, he still needed to be be careful, as a force that could break rock could break the vessel apart. And there is some magic that hurted directly his soul too. These facts were the main reason why Moros avoid confronting with giant predators, powerful mages, and soul-eating creatures as they could either broke the body easily or harmed his soul.

Even the soul vessel was a physical body, it was still just a bunch of enchanted materials combined in a human-liked body, in short, a “moving rock”. And rock wasn't meant to be eaten, so most of unintelligent predators didn't notice or cared about Moros when he was traveling in this form, and he could even walk safely next to a carnivorous plant without getting eaten. However, dealing with sentient predators was still a headache, because even though they didn't want to eat someone with a bland taste like him, they was still curious about how a “rock” could move around. As a result, the soul vessel either got broken by them, or got dragged away as something to show off to their friends.

But the most important thing about this soul vessel was only in this form, Moros was able to use some simple magic (mostly for distraction) and summon and use his weapon Mot, a black sword with an unique pattern on the blade, that was used to hunt souls. Whenever someone was dead by his hand, directly or indirectly, this sword would pull the victim's souls into it and convert them into a type of energy that can only be used by Moros. The more he got, the more stronger he was. But it was a very slow process as he wasn't very powerful to make a lot of people dead like before.

The sword also wasn't for show too, as he was an expert when it came to a sword fight (he also learned this swordsmanship in his old journey)

+Will-o Wisp:

Will-o Wisp was a form that made Moros invisible to naked eyes, unless they had the ability to see spirit. And he could go through walls and obstacles just like a wandering ghost. Pretty useful when he wanted to scout something without getting noticed. However, he was very vulnerable to magic attack and would badly hurt when hitting by one in this form, and not able to use magic or the Mot in this form for self-defense.

Aside from that, he also possessed the ability to possess someone with weak mind. The one who got possessed by him would have one's soul putting into a deep sleep, letting Moros take over the control of the victim's body. The moment Moros left it, the victim would wake up, but not remember anything aside from having a feeling that they have slept for a long time. However, he couldn't apply this ability on giant predators and people had strong willpower. During his process of making his first perfect soul vessel, he used this ability a lot on the native humans of Felarya to find materials and construct the vessel.

Although Will-o Wisp was more convenient and safer when traveling in Felarya, but Moros still preferred a physical body over it. And since when he created the soul vessel, he only used this form when the vessel was broken or on some special situation.

Personality:

From a very powerful being in his own universe, Moros had reducded into a nearly powerless soul-eating creature, but he never felt that he was useless. In contrast, he just thought it was good price to pay for his own freedom. No more meaningless destruction and can do whatever he wants. However, he still missed his old power, and that was the reason why he hunted for soul in Felarya.

Even after being set free, most of his personality still remained intact. He was a self-center person who would do whatever he pleased without caring about other people, and it usually caused suffering for the victim. Only doing things that would benefit him and taking advantages on other people, he only believed on himself and didn't have any friend. Not sure if these traits was created during his old journey on another dimension, or he have been like that since he was created

However, even being a evil and twisted mind person, Moros still had his own sense of pride. He never begged for help or anything, and if he couldn't achieve what he wanted through demanding, he would try to take it with whatever cost. And he dislike being restricted by rules or ordered around as it reminded him his past, so trying to force him to do something would backfired in a very brutal way.

Being very difficult to be killed, he was fear of nothing, even in the dangerous world like Felarya, but it didn't mean he was arrogant and ignorant to go around and challenge everything on sight. In contrary, he was very cunning when dealing with people to get what he wanted and avoid troubles, especially in soul hunting.

Whenever he went to collect soul (“Time to feed my sword”, or so he said), he always made sure that no one escape from his slaughter, even using fauna and flora for that purpose. For that reason, he was fond of Nexoculas, the corpse-eating butterflies, because they helped him to get rid of the soulless corpses of his victims, leaving no traces of his work behind.

Due to the fact a pretty large number of soul haven't arrived where they belonged to (like Hell or Heaven), sometimes, Angels or Demons was ordered to investigated the matter, but he was smart enough to lay down and avoid these powerful creatures until they gave up. So the mysterious disappearances of those poor souls was still remained unsolved.

Surprisingly, even hunting soul was a part of his current life, he often visited places with crowds like the Tavern in Safe Habour to gather interesting news and rumors, as “A way to know more about this world” (once again, he said), and he ceased his usual activity in these places to avoid unnecessary ruckus. Occasionally, he visited Negav to seek for materials for his soul vessel (the money got from his victims, of course), as constructing and maintaining these things for a long time had made it become his hobby.

Moros liked Felarya, but he just didn't say it out loud. The freedom and many new experience attracted him to this workd , even it meant that he would be pretty powerless for a long time. However, he still wanted to settle the score with Auruncus, his counterpart, not because he wanted to achieve the absolute freedom like before (as he had gained it in Felarya), but because he was curious who was stronger. When noticing that there was some Scientic people, a victim of his journey before, appeared on Felarya, he couldn't help to think that they would meet again soon.

Interesting character, though I wonder how he will come into conflict with the guardians as he definitely seems capable of being a threat to Felarya, especially since he is attempting to regain his old abilities.

Regaining the old power is a very slow process, and may take a few thousand years just to reach a tiny part of it. If he want it fast, he would need a very detailed plan, which can only be formed when he understands Felarya completely. That's why he still stick with small fries while exploring more about Felarya.

And well, I don't have any plan for him encounter a Guardian, so he won't be overpowered in my story ^^
