Shinigamis

Well, I think it's strange that nobody tried a topic about them before (don't know if there is a reason in particular, or it's just that nobody had the idea before), so there I will try to develop the idea ^^ (shinigamis will be considered as the beings they are suposed to be and not from any adaptation to anime so far )

I did some research about shinigamis recently, and i found several descriptions about them that would maybe fit the world of Felarya.

In the first place, it's said that shinigamis, are creatures that, as we have been told with demons and angels, "collect and guide" the souls. As we know, demons and angels tend to search for souls with their corresponding "positive" or "negative" energy in order to increase the power of their realm, but from the sources I found, "even if in general described with demonic features, there is no real knowledge about shinigamis being good, or evil, and are so considered more as neutral."

Considering this, Shinigamis would be situated in the midle between the realms of heaven and hell, but still in a different "plane" than the "living beings", they could possibly have two fonctions.
- to maintain a balance between the two realms, guiding the souls toward heaven and/or hell depending of their actual situation
or
- to be a third realm apart, collecting their own souls and slowing down the possible rise from one of the two other realms.

( now that's just my idea, but in order to "visualise" them; I propose a normal basic humans shape, with, instead of the bat-like or bird-like wing, a skeleton one, more or less in order to represent "the bassis of the two other wings", and also because shinigamis are the equivalent of "the death", and so a skelton feature would fit quite well. )

I'm not good writting large texts in english, and I did my best to be at least undestandable. Now I know that this subject is far from being complet, but if someone thinks that the idea can work, please don't esitate to give your thoughs ^^;

Trivia: In some sources it's said that shinigamis ate human souls ... so why not? ^^

(Maybe this topic should go to " ideas discution" and not directly "angels and succubus", I posted it here because it was something concerning them, but now I'm not sure ^^; )

Hmmm.... Nah. We've already got heaven and hell. Angels and demons are always snatching souls, having a 3rd player doesn't really seem necessary.

Besides, having a 3rd party in Supernatural politics can't be good for the balance.

Indeed, we have psychopomps* after all.

Well, I think that indeed having a third realm in order to maintain balance would be a good idea, specially when we consider the importance of those two realms, and the possible consequences of a sudden imbalance between the two.

Having a neutral party between "good" and "bad" isn't new either, I've seen it quite often, and they tend more to; "work" from time to time for one side, from time to time to the other - or - to judge their actions.
In both cases , they contribute to a balance between the two.

I used the word shinigami, but yea, the main idea are "death deities" , that have no real alignment between the two other realms. ^^
Psychpomps could probably be the equivalent of shinigamies, or maybe , if the idea is accepted, be considered as a different "sub-category"/"race" or "rank"
