| I know I am new but I was wondering you have centaurs but you only seem to have a few bulls, camel and horse tuars we need more like a few cattaurs (not talking just about chakats) lizardtaurs and maybe even dogtaurs for example they wouldn't have to be any specific type due to the rather diverse sizes and types of beings on Felarya but still need more. | |

Ummmm... we have "pantaurs" and "Squamataurs" already. In Felarya there is no such thing as a chakat. And what is the difference between a centaur and a "horsetaur?" No, I don't think we should go about "spamming" taurs. Not to say I would not accept more if they were well done and thought out. But we should NOT have more species just for the sake of having them. Any species should be carefully thought out to be unique biologically and culturally.

Yeah, as Jeatte said, there are Pantaurs (similar in structure to Centaurs, except with the lower half of a cat), Sphinxes (essentially Pantaurs with wings), and Squamataurs (tauric creatures with the lower halves of lizards, and many sub-species depending on location and the lizard they are based on). Camel hybrids are not canon yet, although I have posed the idea in the past https://felarya.forumotion.com/t1133-camel-hybridsWhen you tack on Nagas, Dridders, Mermaids, Slug-girls, Snail-people (the name of their species escapes me at the moment) and Dryads, and many, many others, the list of tauric creatures in Felarya is quite large and diverse. Not sure if you've taken a look at the wiki yet, but even the types of creatures listed on the species list http://felarya.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Races are really just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more species in the "Minor races" pages as well.

Well, as far as "races" go, I think the Wiki has all that it needs. That's not to say that you can't make a "dogtaur" character if you want to. I like making up my own species of creatures actually. As for Sphinxes being tauric, the description of the Blue Sphinx in the Wiki leads me to believe they are not tauric. They have paws instead of hands, I honestly prefer that because it makes them more unique in Felarya and is more true to the Sphinxes of mythology. I bought a photo book on Lions and Tigers that will help me out with sketching a few non-tauric Sphinxes. I just want to gauge the interest in that design versus the pantaur design.

I believe the Blue Sphinxes are a bit of an exception. All the other descriptions point to the standard Sphinx being a winged Pantaur. Even the entry for Canopy Pantaurs describes them as "a species of wingless Sphinxes"

| My bad. I am actually in agreement with you. I meant to say that the Blue Sphinxes are not tauric. Yes they are an exception.
I guess its also worth mentioning that in my stories I'll be introducing a lot of Sphinxes, such as Kitane and Jax, but none of these are tauric even though they are not all Blue Sphinxes. (I'm really not a fan of Sphinxes being tauric) I don't have any name for their species other than Sphinx. I'm wondering what I should do about this to limit confusion.

| I think we have plenty of Taurs for now.
I mean yes, new ideas are always welcome, but there is variety if you look on the wiki.

| Well, first we must ascertain the definition of taur. The way I see it, and I may be wrong, anything taurian has a humanoid upper half and an animal lower half. If we go by this definition, there is an abundance of them in Felarya. An extremely anomalous amount, actually. Although, in all honesty, the concept of a clean-cut taurian species is practically an evolutionary impossibility, so I'd imagine that their existence isn't natural. But that's another discussion entirely, isn't it?
Edit: After a search on the definition of "taurian", it means "pertaining to a bull". This is due to the word "taurus", and isn't related to centaurs, pantaurs, etc.; I assume we'd make our own definition then.
