| Hair-curler is a type of moss that grows on the sides of trees in Tolmeshal Forest. It gives off an extremely repugnant scent that will literally curl the hair of anyone who gets a good whiff of it, hence the name. It appears usuallly as a soft, light-green patch of fluff, however there are also rare orange-coloured variations that give off an even stronger odour, which one should make a point of avoiding as the smell has been known to kill. Generally, the more of it there is in one place, the stronger the stench is, and it has been known to grow more than 80 feet long from the ground up the side of a tree. However, the smell doesn't carry very far, even when it's windy. Hair-curler is known to grow in large spurts after it rains, especially in shady places. Felaryan herbologists believe that it could be applied in warding off predators, especially ones with sensitive senses of smell, but as of yet, they have not found a way to do so without also offending the user. It has been determined that, for reasons unkown, it grows on the side of the tree closest to Negav.
The consumption of hair-curler moss is said to give one incredibly good luck for about a week's time. Many hardened people have reported having this luck after eating the moss, saying such things as having come close to being eaten numerous times yet escaping, finding rare items and treasure, and even finding love. Wether there is truth behind this or not remains to be determined, however, and many side-effects from eating the moss have also been noted, mainly stomach aches lasting three days or more, green skin coloration, a substance similar to the moss growing on pubic hair, and eternally bad breath.
Some gardeners use controlled samples of hair-curler on small pieces of bark in their gardens to ward off plant-eating insects; even bugs don't like the smell of it. They control it's growth by hanging the bark on a small stick, and leaving it in the open until it only covers one-fourth of the wood; it is then kept in the shade and watered one time, then put back into the open once the entire face of the bark is covered in moss once again. Gardeners must be wary, for if the moss begins to grow around the back of the wood, it is considered useless as it cannot be kept in the sun all at once, and due to this it will grow out of control and flush out the sweet smell of the flowers.
Well, tell me what you think, and if you have any ideas to add, I'd be happy to hear them. As always, anyone willing to post a comment can say anything they like. I won't judge.

| I feel let-down by the lack of feedback on this idea. Does it, or something similar, already exist? | |

| It's not bad, but there's not much to it at the moment. I can't really say much about it. | |

| I'm with AJ. There does look to be a decent concept here, it just needs to be fleshed out some more. For example, aside from its smell, does it have any other special properties? In what conditions does it grow best? Does the smell get stronger if there is more of it? What does it look like? Stuff like that. | |

| Sounds like a possible idea in theory, but it needs more to flesh it out, like the others said.
Maybe it has benefits/consequences for being eaten? Perhaps applications besides the standard "hair curling"? Stuff like that. Get those scientists to work. >:0

| Nyaha, hasn't the internet taught you anything?
If it exist, someone will have tried to eat it.

If it exist, someone will have tried to eat it. Shush, I'm thinking. And, no, the internet scares me, almost as much as your obsession with italics. A benefit...But what would make someone consider eating it? I suppose consequences would be easier to think of...

Prehensile hair with a mind of it's own? I was thinking really bad breath, but I'll take that into consideration.

| Well like some of your others ideas I think the base is original but you could go further, imagining usages that could be derived from it, how it blends in the rest of the locations where it grows from etc.. ^^ | |

| *snaps fingers* Good luck is invaluable in Felarya, no? ^_^ Yes, that seems to have gotten the plug out.
Also, what do you mean by usages derived from it and blends in other locations? :/

| Okay, I added in a use for it in gardens now, and tweaked a few other points. Is there anything else that could be added? | |
