Enemies in the Midst

"We’re late Carolina hurry up!" a small harpy shouted at her rushing friend. The two figures ran up to the rest of the group.

“Sorry we’re late everyone hope you didn’t wait too long” said the girl with brown hair. “ we were getting stuff ready before I realized it was so late”

“You mean you slept in till I woke you up ten minutes ago.” Anila said landing on her shoulder. Carolina shot her a dirty look then addressed the group.

“Sorry if I missed introductions but I’m Carolina and this is Anila. I can see through just about any disguise made of magic I was born with this ability, I also dabble in water magic It’s a handy tool in the woods. Anila is skilled with all sorts of ventriloquism and mimicry of noises; it’s hard to tell her from the real thing.” Carolina explained about the two, leaving out her connection a girl’s got to have some secrets. “ I hope we get to know each other better” she said with a bright smile


(sorry everyone i would have posted something earlyer buuuut i've been on vacation in the woods for two weeks hope you like my enterance)

"Well it is a pleasure to meet all of you, late or not I need as many people as possible for this trip, I apologize Dangeal for mistaking you as a woman, takin it as a compliment." He winked with a small chuckle as he focused his attention. "We are leaving now, since it appears everyone had arrived, let us depart!" He said clapping his hands together Damien falling with the rest if the group, eying each of them.

Leila smiled warmly at the new comers. "Hi, I'm Leila. Its nice to meet the three of you." She winked with a smile. "Though you might want to be a little faster next time." She heard the jingling of Elarya's sword and giggled to herself for a moment. However, as soon as she heard the order to move out she became serious again. She floated over to Elliot. "Sir, I would like to make a request. While I am not the best scout my normal employer has, I am still very good at it. If you do not mind, I would like to act as a patrol around the main group in order to helpnus avoid unpleasant encounters with predators. As a fairy, most predators will not bother me, and they may decide to leave all of you alone if I ask them to. At the very least, there is less of a chance of me getting eaten then one of you. After all, scouts tend to be the easiest meals to catch, and, no offence to anyone, but humans are pretty tasty."

"None taken. It is a compliment really, I am quite smug though, so my ego is loud." He snickered lightly, smiling to her. "By all means, it sounds like a wonderful idea, I am not great with stealth, words yes. I'll have to use some words to charm a pretty fairy like yourself, don't want to be ungrateful to a predator." He said winking to her. "Though in my opinion we are all equals, I know things are different here."

"Predator?! Please." Damien said aloud, speaking for the first time, rolling his eyes. "Man is natures top predator, I could prove that anytime a 'predator' even thought of attacking me."

Leila giggles a bit. "There aren't many humans who would take that as a compliment." She suddenly shrinks down to a few inches tall. "I'm sure if you keep trying g you'll end up charming a fairy who would be happy to stay with you. As for me, if you keep up the charm...well you never know." She returns the wink with one of her own. "After all, you're a pretty cute human. Though you never have to be grateful for me doing my job. All of you can thank me by not getting eat or killed in some other way." She raised an eyebrow at Damien and smirked. "Now don't get me wrong, I love humans. You're smart, resourceful, and can do almost anything when you put your minds to it. I only wish my fellow fairies had your drive and concentration. But in this world, you're in the middle of the food chain. If I was a normal fairy, most of you would probably have been eaten by now." She raised her hands defensively. "That is not to say that you can't defend yourselves or that I will be eating you. I won't eat any of you, and I am certain you can defend yourselves. I'm just stating that hkans are food here."

Leila started to fly away when she paused and looked around. "Uhh, I am also going g to need someone with a good sense of smell to come with me. I can defend you all against most predators, but I would like someone to help protect me from things like Fey Weed." She shudders at the word. "I doubt we will run into any, but better safe then sorry."

"It's alright Elliot...." Dangeal said quietly not sure whether or not he had heard considering Carolina and Anila had rushed in late introducing themselves. He was especially curious in the the harpy watching it keenly. Before his attention was driven to Elarya. He Smiled at her noticing her long blond hair. He was curious though why she didn't simply come up to the group and introduce herself like the rest of the party. He curiousity soon came to an end though as the fairy had asked for someone to join her in scouting so she wouldn't be eaten by Fey Weed. Dangeal knew the smell of Fey Weed well enough considering he needed knowledge on all plants both medical and not for his medicines. Though to shy to speak up he remained silent hoping someone else would volunteer.

"Well at least you arrived." D said smiling to Carolina and Anila. Her attention though was driven away as she heard a loud clang. Looking to Elarya as she introduced herself only one word came across her mind. Snob. I mean why else would she introduce herself from a distance. She then giggled slightly due to the banter of Elliot and the fairy. Looking curiously at Damien wondering if Damien really could take down a predator at any given moment.She heard the fairy ask for help scouting and D would have volunteered but she felt her sense of smell was merely normal. Nothing special and wasn't sure if she could save the fairy once it had caught whiff of Fey weed. So alas she too remained silent.

"Well as far as your Fey Weed problem goes, ironically Damien is familiar with every bit of known Flora on this world, the creatures are still in progress." He said chuckling nervously, sweatdropping light as he looked back to Damien with a "hint hint" expression. "And thank you very much, cute is a rather nice thing to be called, and especially when it is said in a non.......pet like manner."

Damien rolled his eyes but nodded to Elliot. "Yes I can do it, my red eye is fake and can scan objected up to half a mile away, even thought obstructed vision, so I can pick up any Fey Weed we may come across." He said seriously, looking to Leila with a small smile, straining to be nice. "Your safe with me, just don't try anything." He said place an amulet over his neck, not saying a word about what it does, just walking over to Leila.

Leila raised a curious eyebrow. "Pet like manner? Who would treat you like a pet?" She shrugged. "No matter." She flashed a grateful smile at Damien. "Don't worry, I won't try anything. You're one of my team mates, and teams work together right? I'd never betray the people I work with." She winked. "Especially when I am trusting my life to that person. Now, you said that eye of yours can see through stuff? Can it see through a bag like this." She unhooked one of two smallish bags hooked around her waist. "If it does, then you can ride in here if you like."

Damien grimaced at the thought of being shrunk, looking to the bag with disdain, gripping his amulet as he shrugged, knowing he would be okay if it came down to it, nodding to the fairy. "I suppose that would be acceptable, if that is what you prefer me to do." Damien said walking over to the fairy, eyeing her curiously, unable to detect any malicious intent from her, so he relaxed.

(Once Leila and Damien are set and off I will officially begin to trip, so I will interact with more characters XD)

"Thank you. It will be easier to protect you if predators don't know you are there. And even more important, gives you the edge of surprise if we do run into any hostiles." She shrinks Damien down to the size of a neera. Once he's small enough to fit comfortably in the bag Leila reaches down and gently scoops him up. For just a second d she looks at him, an the beginnings of an odd looking, almost motherly looking smile appears on her face. The look is gone as quickly as it came, and she carefully places Damien into her bag. The inside of the bag is far more roomy then it looks on the outside, and it filled with soft and warm blankets and pillows. It's almost as if she filled the bag with the intent of making it a comfortable place to travel in. Once he is inside, Leila looks into the bag. "Are you comfy in there?" Without waiting for an answer she flies off into the woods to create a perimeter.

"Yes I am quite comfortable, I will attempt to not fall asleep, thought sleep is not a need for me." He said seriously, able to see out into the forest, not even know if she could hear him, not that it really mattered to him, his job was to protect her, not converse with her. "Much better than being in your stomach I suppose."

"Good, I hoped you would be. I tried to make it as comfotqble as possible." She giggled. "I would never carry someone in my stomach. That's just...well, wrong. I mean, it would have to be horribly uncomfortable for the people traveling in my belly, not to mention dangerous." By now she had lost sight of the group and was making her rounds.

"I would expect so, not to mention the lack of oxygen, it doesn't take long to succumb to the conditions, I have, studied, the unique digestive tracks of the giant predators here, among other things." He said vaguely, chuckling a little to himself. "Very unique to say the least, not to mention the magical abilities, I was unique where I came from, here there are plenty of magic users."

Elliot turned to the group as he smiled. "We will let them lead on ahead of us, since she can fly fairly fast I assume she will keep a good lookout, now if everyone could follow me please." He said politely, motioning for them to follow him, keeping a close eye on the forests, with Leila around his worries decreased significant, now his attention turned to his goal, and Kensha Beasts.

D and Dangeal smile happily following Elliot.Happy to go on this expedition. Then he began to wonder what this whole trip was for anyways. While walking beside Elliot, Dangeal lightly tapped Elliot's shoulder. "Um Elliot. So uh what exactly are we looking for?" He asked quietly.

"I was wondering that as well. Why exactly do you need us? I mean it looks already like your group is pretty well off." D asked curiously. Walking along.

As Leila scanned the forest for any predators she suddenly realized something. "Oh, I forgot to cast an alarm spell. Hey Damien, do you think Elliot would let me cast an alarm spell on him? I mean, it's a totally harmless spell, and if anything dangerous gets to close I would be silently alerted."

(It is a convient spell...a level 1 spell that no one ever uses. It doesn't really define dangerous. The alarm would go off even if we ran into a neera, nor does it give you the location of the being setting off the alarm. However, it would alert Leila, and only Leila, to the possibility of danger.)

(It might...I'm not sure how it tells between stuff like insects, plants, and animals. I know that trees and plants never make the spell go off, but I'm not so sure about bugs.)

(Hmm.......this is a weird idea.....I am not really sure x.x. Elliot can communicate through telepathy though, so he could alert her anyways without even letting an enemy know he is doing it. But I will personally let Nergal decide, and when he does we can continue.)
