Why would I care about someone who's just going to get eaten? It'd be too hard on me. Instead, I'll care about the people who aren't likely to be eaten any time soon, predators and prey species alike, and that'll save me a whole lot of heartbreak.

It's amazing. Christmas, when converted from a pagan solstice festival to a Christian celebration, got its name change. Yet Easter, even more precious to the Christian faith, is still named after the Germanic goddess of rebirth, Eastus. How odd is that?
