This is already an idea that's been integrated into my stories, but what the hell lets see how well it sits with the rest of you. This subspecies of naga has a unique defense reflex; they can change the color pigments in their skin just like a chameleon to blend in with their environment. The number of controllable pigments in their cells grows with age, and by the time they reach adulthood they can mimic their surroundings so thoroughly that they can often fool humans standing as close as 5 meters away from them. However, they have less physical strength than their counterparts so if discovered their typical behavior is to flee to avoid direct confrontations. When hunting they often have to find clever ways to isolate their prey so that their ambush doesn't alert any other potential food items. Though there are always exceptions, they're typically very shy and cautious, and have a natural aversion to large numbers of even the most harmless creatures. Because they usually have a slimmer build than other nagas they do not need to feed as often, but they've racked up a reputation for causing stray adventurers to suddenly and inexplicably disappear. These are a rare species, whose numbers have diminished from interbreeding with other nagas. Because of how elusive they are, no one knows for sure just how many of them there are left in Felarya.
