Discord channel for Felarya

How about we making a Discord channel for Felarya?

I think it would a good hangout place for Felarya fans, with voice chat support, multi sub-channels, and fancy stuffs like avatars. More importantly, it doesn't kick you out if you afk.

Plus, Discord also has a web app, so you access it everywhere without the need of the software installed, though the installed version would have better functions.

Aside from discussing about Felarya or other silly chit-chat, we can also have corners for artists, writers, or places for people to post their ideas.

Yeah, so. Public apps. I know I say this over and over again, but I'll do it again. From Discord's T&S:

At least they're not empty? They do come right out and say it plainly. Sexual or otherwise objectionable. Not sure why they needed to specify pornographic with that restriction in place, but eh.

Ah, okay then. At least, I think it's better than our auto-kicking chat box, but oh well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm in agreement with you. Just about anything would be better, but nearly everything forbids the content that Felarya is known for. Moreover, people will continue to use it because it's there and however bad it still works, it does still work ( in some fashion ). I could go on for days about the horrible design and security of this site.

I'd suggest Chatango but even it has a pretty restrictive T&S ( not to mention the interface is ancient and it's really no better than any other polling ajax solution):

It's really just a fact of life. The only way you can really get around it is by using a nonlogging instant-protocol chat solution ( stuff that uses ajax is usually database driven, which means whoever owns the database can read your 'private' conversations ) or by hosting on services that don't care. That generally limits you to stuff hosted in the European Union, since they're more progressive on such topics ( they usually just limit child porn or really violent stuff ). It'd be nice if people weren't such sticks in the mud about this, and honestly a lot of people still use such services even though they have said content. The problem is, one angry person is all it takes to eliminate your community ( which I have also seen happen - for the curious, Blogspot, now a Google service IIRC killed quite a few groups; sexual themed blogs and the like could be removed without you being able to stop them if anyone reported them, even if you had an adult filter on ). The real problem with Discord ( they are a very nice solution ) is that T&S Exclusive License. I mean, REALLY? That's damn near heinous that the T&S requires you to sign over the rights for anything you display on Discord. Imagine an artist doing a livestream or something posting images to Discord, and having those images repurposed and used in ads for Discord with no payment or even acknowledgement to you. Anyone that has any notoriety as an artist knows exactly what this is like, they all have at least one story about it happening.

There's a group of people from Eka's portal who have a pretty big discord channel, and nothing has happened to them so far.

As far as discord goes they added to a NSFW feature to the application which requires you to say you're 18 in order to view any of the content. As well as long as it isn't kiddie pron, basically anything goes in those channels. I am part of pretty large discord server myself with Meltlandi. We had an incident where ages and stuff were brought up and out good friend the lawyer took the time to go through it. Essentially by Discords standard as long as it is set by the guidelines, if it is flagged NSFW and isn't illegal they take a hands back approach. As for roleplay age limit, in america at least it is a really grey area of the law. As long as their is no intent to meet in real life, and you are 13 years of age as is Discords required minimum there are no real regulations. On our server, we as a moral standard set the age to 18 and require people to in a specific channel write out how old they are. Once you have posted you gain a rank called Age Verified and you can no longer post or edit in that channel. It really is a nifty service, though the chat box here is perfectly functional and even if you AFK you can simply log back in and scroll up.
