Skype deleted all my contacts and conversations!

I used the Skype app on my Kindle fire for ages, but about a month ago, it locked me out. Today I find that I could update it, which should fix the problem. However, It seems to have gotten rid of every single contact and conversation I had! This is extremely upsetting to me as I was in some very good chats and had some wonderful people on there. Now I can't seem to find any! I'm very worried that I may have lost all those chats and friends for good! I don't know what I'm going to do! (Thankfully, there are some that I contacted at other places around the web, but many were only known through Skype!)
