That's probably a good rule-of-thumb. And honestly, I'll admit I got lost in the justifications there, and Shady makes a good point; we don't need much of a reason, just a good sense of the end result to keep things generally consistent. We've got quite a variety of predators, so there's going to be quite a variety of speeds, but I do think it would be a good idea to have some basic guidelines to predator speed just for consistency's sake, and Stab's seems like it would work; it would put the average ~100ft (roughly 17x size) predator at four times as fast as a baseline human–and as such, would make their motions take four times longer, which comes down to one stride per second and a half or so at a run, and puts them at roughly 150km/h at a full run on flat, unhindering terrain (humans can, surprisingly, get decently close to 50km/h at a full run), but obviously much slower in the jungles, where things tend to happen.

No offense, but your obsession borders on insane. Or I guess I should say Usain. :^)

Actually, it does have consequences.

Faster preds control bigger territories more effectively, are harder to outrun, and aren't forced to give up on you until you're much further. I generally go with a square root of scale thing- less because of the energetic considerations I keep bringing up and more because of the fact that it gives me a value I can more or less use to justify the events that I need happening.

Slugs' top recorded speed is 300m/h, though most of the time they have trouble managing a fifth of that. Assuming a slug is 3 inches long, if you scale it up directly to 3000 inches long, we'd have a top speed of 300 km/h for your slug girl. That... is not gonna do it for me. Even a fifth of that is 60 km/h, still enough for Doppler effect! Half of that is still 30 km/h, you'd have trouble outrunning her on a vehicle. No. Just no. *shudders*

Rather than ask how fast the preds are, I'd rather you asked how fast do you need them to be. Do you need them to break the sound barrier? Do you need them to chase a jeep, or outrun it? Do you need them to match a plane? Then we can decide how fast they need to be, and how to add sense to that.
It would be awfully strange to see a slug going 300km/h

Yeah it would. That's why I concur with Stabs in the consideration of these preds need to be as fast as we only need them to be. Just because something is bigger doesn't mean it should move faster. A step will be wider because they're larger, so in a sense they'll go faster, but I imagine it would be more or less proportional. We don't want to get too scientific about it, because most of it will be conjecture. We've never had a 3000 inch slug to be able to measure it. Nature usually isn't clean enough to be like "lets just scale it and the arithmetic up and call it a day".
