| what sorts of mundane and ordinary animals and creatures exist in Felarya? the ones that arent you know massive, not everything needs to be dangerous to survive, and many creatures today are alive because their are quick on their feet or their multiplication. ;D and logicaly speaking, the humans got to eat something too.
about the only one that I've hear of are fish, I'm assuming that means mundane creatures exist, i could be wrong though, maybe they have a human upper torso with frilly fins for arms.

| That's an excellent question! I'm VERY glad that you asked that! I imagine that Felarya has a wide variety of "normal" animals living there, either native or imported from other worlds that have managed to survive and breed sucessfully. For example the tiger that Anna was afraid of and later devoured as a Naga may very well have been one of many. Katrika tells me she's seen flocks of parrots and other birds flying around and also many varieties of snakes both venomous and harmless. (Katrika is a bit of a snake nut!) Such wildlife tends to be more common in the Mirangia forest though as the dimentional unstability of the area makes it easy for them to enter Felarya here. So unless Karbo says otherwise I'd have to agree with you. Some animals like pigs, rats, goats foxes and cats have a history of surviving in the most unfriendly places. They'd be smarter and tougher than the usual varieties though! | |

| Oh yes there is definitely a good part of harmless creatures.. they are just not very much listed yet ^^; But I'll definitely try to correct that in the near future If you have ideas don't hesitate ^^ ( basically the creature must be both original and also have a good way to survive with so many predators around ( speed, various mean of defense, quick multiplication etc.. ) | |

I'd like to point out that a lot of "harmless" animals are perfectly capable of looking after themselves when push comes to shove! Best defence I feel would be to taste absolutley disgusting! Works for the Londorean Skunk-apes!

| What about those chamelion pythons I see daily? They're about 15 feet long, but only 1 foot in diameter.
They can change their skin to hide from large preds, and can slither away pretty fast.
Though they are smaller than nagas, they still have a tendency to develop crushes on them.
I cannot tell you how many I've seen them follow Anna or Crisis around, absolutely stricken with love.

| I my self have seen some smaller sized lizards which could be compared to the size of a Komodo Dragon which seem to eat mostly fallen leaves and grasses but the main thing about them is they produce a very pungent and sickening smell that most creatures steer clear of them. Me... well when you remove the stink gland before cooking them, they taste pretty good. It is a lot of food though... | |

| Escalnai slugs
I've seen some beings that seemed like slugs, 1 or at least 3 ft. long, wander next to the rivers in Felarya or in every place where there is a good humidity. Basically herbivorous, these slugs are meant to pour a special secrection out from every pore of their bodies if they sense danger. This chemical secrection, at contact with the air, becomes suddenly hard giving the slugs a perfect camouflage, for when they are in this state they aren't recognizable from the stones next to the river, so the predators don't notice them and pass by... when the menace has passed over, the Escalnai slugs break their thick stone-like shells and go back to search for food
Grilled, these animals are quite good, it is said that they taste really good.

| Very clever nksrocks!
Nix reports Giant Nemotodes living in the leaf litter and under logs. They range from 8-35 feet long and feed on insect (and Chilotaur) eggs, fungi and small inverterbrates. They taste foul apparently.

humans are hardly mundane when you compare them to other animals on earth. name me a naga who has gone to the moon and back.

Uuuuhhhhh..... Mecha-Ryla! But when it comes down to it, humans are mundane within a fantasy universe. That's simply where we are. Though I do agree, we are SO much better than those stuck-up snobs who think they're better than use just because we hold wars!

| Katrika-"(sigh) I guess I really don't understand you humans at all!" Tanya-"Compared to us vampires, you humans really ARE mundane! None of you live past your 140th year!" Back to topic though Lots of mundane animals in Felarya! One I've been watching for a while now. I call it the Felaryan Ground Fowl. It looks like a large Rail around eight feet long. It's covered in brown hairy feathers like a Kiwi and sticks to the thickest undergrowth. It feeds mostly on foliage and berries with some insects and small mammels as well. It's possibly the stealthiest creature in the jungles of Felarya (after Crisis!). It's very rarely seen and almost never caught by predators. It's delicious! Katrika takes great pains to catch this bird as Anna is very fond of it's moist, succulent flesh and great taste! | |

| Badgers and Mushrooms.
A cookie to the person who gets that.
Anyway, small insects, probably flies, beetles, etc. all have small variants in Ferlarya.
I assume birds (some of them have absolutely beautiful plumage which leads to people to pay vast sums on them... which makes sense since you have to delve deep into the territory of very large and very hungry predators to even see one).
Bats usually nocturnal, have a field day in areas where there is no sun (they are actually what most dark fish consist on).

Similarly, Final Fantasies. Then again, these are examples of where humans are the dominant species anyways, so it makes not that much difference. - Zoekin wrote:

Seems you ain't looking close enough then. Ringworld, anyone? Ah well, if a means to become a Lich is ever found, you can bet your bottom dollar on who's going to be first in line. Anyways, way back on topic: Tigers would likely be a good mundane. They're still pretty powerful, and a lot of cultures respect them for their beauty, grace, power, whatever. I could see some Felaryan predators teaching their children by having them watch natural predators at work from the treetops. Some type of cow, goat, etc is also likely available. Milk is part of many people's diets, and I doubt (And really feel sorry for) anyone who would go up to some pregnant Felaryan big beastie going "Milk plz".

| Slugs. Plain old salt hating slugs.
I know, they're not nearly as cool as everything else, but they love plants, they love moisture (and so would love the jungle) and the only two things that will eat them are snakes and frogs ( because apparently those two creatures are crazy.) I also suggest that the slugs start out small and get larger the longer they live.

| Spikemadilo
A small sized creature that can grow up to the size of a human at max. They do not eat meat at all, sticking to just plants. there stumics are extremly resistant, being able to consume any plant, even if its poisonis.
when confronted with a predictor, they will curl up into a ball. They then extend spikes from there hardened shell. The spikes are very hard and are coated with a toxin. The toxin causes temporary paralysis to anything that touches them.
They are mostly found in forests, near the giant tree.

| Well, I had a thought for a mundane creature.
"Trail Snail."
This creature is very docile. It won't attack anthing else and it only feeds on plants and dead creatures.
Here's the catch: it's slime acts as a perfume. Whatever it eats affects the smell of the slime.
When it eats a leaf, for example, the slime emits an odor that smells like an air freshener. If it eats a male hormone drug (tested by scientists in a closed facility), it emits a powerful slime that attracts females.
Of course, this works for predators too. As you know, a local blonde haired naga used this to her advantage. She had the snail cover her in slime that smelled like salmon (apparently this snail eats dead salmon too).
This attacted a very perky group of cat people. Before they knew it, though, they were lunch.
The best part is that it washes off fairly easily.
So remember... do NOT follow scents in the forest. Trust me.
