The “dragönaga” is a blanket term for a wide variety of potential hybrids. What all dragönagas have in common, however, is that they are uniquely gifted beings with just as much legend and lore surrounding them as their fully and partially reptilian ancestors.

It’s difficult to say if a particular dragon species is compatible with a Felaryan naga, but considering the odds of a dragon and giant naga even mating at all, dragönagas are no doubt extremely rare omni-hybrids.

Physical Characteristics and Abilities:

A dragönaga possesses a taurian body like its naga parent, but its serpent half depends almost entirely on its draconic one. The size of a dragönaga is usually grander than a normal Felaryan naga, but the length of the tail varies greatly, depending on both parents.

Female Dragon/ Male Naga

Let’s say if a female dragon (in this case an oriental variety) were to breed with a male naga, the offspring would have more draconic features, such as antlers and even that species’ telltale whiskers. Even claws may be present, and the tail will often have a spiny ridge along its back. Vestigial legs (nubs, really) are also common, as well as patches of scales on the human torso and the belly scales infringing onto the dragönaga’s human torso. The rarest feature to appear would be wings, if the parent dragon possessed them at all, and even then the dragon parent would have to be female. Whether the wings are functional or not would depend on many factors, including the dragönaga’s wingspan and magical potential. Nagas are not especially known for flight, after all. Dragönagas have not been known to be anthropomorphic- or with a dragon’s head or facial features- nor do they possess scales over their entire body. If a dragönaga were to mate with a full-blooded dragon, however, then there is no telling how much the naga genes would become recessive. This type of dragönaga has the lesser chance of being sterile. Dragönagas with a female dragon parent commonly lose any special physical abilities inherited from their naga ancestry, such as a venomous bite or constriction in lieu of abilities pertaining to their dragon one. If this type of dragönaga mates with a Felaryan naga, the resulting offspring would be likely to possess the same draconic characteristics its parent inherited.

Female Naga/ Male Dragon

Now- if a male oriental dragon and a female naga were to mate, the resulting hybrid would have less physical draconic characteristics in common and instead benefit more from the dragon parent’s magical abilities. If the parent naga has the same elemental affinity as that of the dragon it mates with, the offspring will almost be guaranteed not only to have that nature, but to be quite proficient at it. A water dragon and a water-natured naga or a sea naga, for instance, would be very tactical for breeding purposes, although the cost of raising the potential offspring’s chances for survival would be to take a gamble- this type of dragönaga has a higher chance of being sterile. But- due to the low gender ratio of Felaryan nagas, this sometimes is the only option for a female seeking to reproduce. This variety is not as obvious as those with a female dragon mother- it is quite possible that they go their entire lives without realizing their draconic heritage. If this type of dragönaga mates with a Felaryan naga, the offspring most likely won't possess any inherited dragonic traits, a (mostly) normal naga.

Both varieties usually possess pronounced fangs and prefer the company of other beings of draconic descent.

Temperament:

While dragönagas are more likely to be in better control of their emotions and instincts due to their dragonic heritage, there is also the chance that they can be wild and irrational, to the point of being seen as savage even by other giant nagas. Those with a dragon mother are more likely to take after them behaviorally, vice versa for those with a naga mother. Things that concern a normal naga might go right by them- a dragönaga is less likely to be prejudiced against a dridder for its race, for instance.

Habitat:
There are very few dragönagas (at least obvious ones) living in Felarya, and each one tends to live in the environment best suited to its elemental affinity- not only this, but they also seem to prefer environments more extreme than most other giant nagas could put up with. If you wanted to find one, you'd have to search in some of Felarya's most perilous zones.

Alright- I would like to make it clear that I did not design these to antagonize GREGOLE. I harbor no ill will towards him or his character, Ryla. Once again you have my apologies. It was very immature of me.

So- while I'm at it, there's the name. It's shitty, I know. Its current form is pronounced with an umlaut that puts more focus on the "o" sound; the "a" in "naga" is soft. Any suggestions for an alternate name would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, I do like the idea. These creatures would likely feed on those neko/dragon hybrids i thought of a while back.

But still, the idea is very fun to think of.

Ignoring the jab at me, I firmly un-support this idea on the grounds that it acknowledges the existence of dragons in Felarya. And as everyone knows, I'm still trying to figure out who brought up the idea in the first place so I can track him down and kill him.

Hmm... Well, I know that besides dimensional dragons ( which are not originally from Felarya as I recall) and edgar dragons, which are described as not very dragon-like at all, the only evidence I've really seen is that Mist Elves are said to descend partly from water dragons. I suppose that I assumed several variations were present in Felarya either naturally or accidentally, and that other hybrids could potentially exist.

I admit that is scarce evidence to support a great number of dragons living in Felarya, or any at all in the classical sense, but there is this much to support that there are, in fact, dragons in some form or another in Felarya, to some degree.
