| I think this forum is now big enough for a Debate room. But I think it could have problems if its not moderated. What do you guys think. | |

Could be anything, as long as it doesn't become a flame war.

| hmmm thats a good idea. I'll talk to karbo about if we should put it in an existing section or giving its own. As for structure perhaps we could start with these two rules and expand on them as we go.
1) all comments must be directed at the topic. any comment directed at a person or persons will be deleted.
2) each post must have a clear idea or opinion expressed. please keep each post to at least 4 sentences or more (no single word or sentence posts please)

Anyways, to speed things quickly on topic: Mechs v Tanks... which is superior? There are two scenarios for this particular debate. Scenario A: Anime Physics. The 'usual' realm we see Mechs operating in. Scenario B: Real-Life Physics. The only realm we seem to see tanks do anything worth a crud in. The debate is on multiple categories as well. For example, while one might be more Cost-Efficient, another may be more efficient per person. Similarly, while one may have a superiority over certain terrains, another may have an advantage with armor integrity. For myself, I'd give it to the Mech's in Scenario A, though Tanks in Scenario B.

Felaryan Rule 1: Dont piss of someone who is big enough to eat you. Felaryan Rule 2: Whatever weapon you think will do the job, you need twice as much.

| I'd go with Mechs on that debate. They're not only walking tanks, but walking doomsday machines. They'll throw you out the window.
Also, I have yet to see a dryad take me or my mech down. Though I am weakened by their.... well... traits, I still manage to emerge victorious.

| Mech Advantages: + Require less crew during combat engagements. + Can be customized to further strike fear into enemies via Visuals. + Greater vision due to higher elevation. + Can fly (Sometimes) + Have Melee Capabilities
Mech Disadvantages: + Combat Crew oft require more training, and are harder to replace. + Are often more expensive individually than tanks + Can have most of their non-Melee weapons mounted on Tanks usually + Rely on two functioning Legs / Functioning Jump Packs + Size makes fitting in some areas impossible, while also making it easier for enemies to spot the Mech
Tank Advantages: + Easier to train crew (Usually) + Can mount more software due to larger crews + Can focus more on armor than Mechs (Due to the lack of needing to stand) + Lower Profile + Often easier to produce than a Mech
Tank Disadvantages: + Terrain can more readily block the path + Are often slower than (Anime Physics) Mech's with tracking + Need the larger crew + Cannot fly (Unless Anti-Grav technology is passed around like hotcakes) + Tend to have armor focused on specific sides

| the only mechs that have ever made sense are evangelion mechs, which are actualy devine cyborgs that can only be controlled for what 5 minutes at a time?
Mechs are stupid, the idea of building all the motors and gears and functions to make every human movement possible is not only INFINATLY more costly than a tank, several tanks would total a mech in seconds.

BLASPHEMY! How dare you speak such rubbish. In anime, mechs are infinite beings capable of total destruction. Only a fellow mech can vanquish them. Tanks are crushed like toys every which way. In real life, mechs are being developed as we speak. We already have the basics down. You are entitled to your opinion, but DON'T BELITTLE MY MECH!!!!!! If it can total armies of worthless tanks, then I'm not afraid to unleash him on you. On a side note, let's see a tank take down a Felaryan predator. Pfft.

| You seem to be watching too many movies saying A mech is invincible is like saying humans can be shot to hell and still save the day all action hero like
A couple of rounds will put out a mech because the whole thing needs an intracate system of gears pistons and pumps in order to operate anywhere near human dexterity, and if you forgo such a thing a tank can outmanuver it. the whole thing is like the the WW!! tanks blown way out of proportion, yeah panzers are better tanks than ours, but because of the price tag and the quality that whent into the work we could make 5 to their 1 tank, and numbers won, i think the numbers are actualy higher, but I'm being modest, you could probably waste a couple of tanks before fighters and fellow tanks took you down,
the more i think about it the more I see Mechs as a monster to keep cool.
a moderator, in all likely hood would have a decent chance of taking down a felaryan pred, provided its main gun is fited for verticle Aiming,
