| There's this awesome website out there called TV Tropes that catalogues various techniques used in writing fictional works. It's kind of helpful if you're a writer looking for ideas, as it has tons of tropes for all sorts of media.
Be warned, though, the site is very addicting. There exists a trope called TV Tropes Will Ruin Your Life. The TV Tropes community doesn't joke around with that kind of stuff!
Anyone else know this site?

| I have experienced it's addictiveness myself. The amount of time I've wasted reading their articles is rather large. | |

| Sorry to bring back a topic a month after the fact, but I just noticed something interesting in the "Did We Just Have Tea With Cthulhu?" trope page.
Hint: It's in the "Web Comics" folder.

Firstly, I would hardly call Felarya a "web comic". And secondly "Crisis the giant man-eating land-mermaid"? What in the name of Goddess were they on?

| Man, I have wasted SO much time there and Onemanga.com... I'm up at 4:05. I wanted to be in bed by 12. It's terrible. | |

| TV Tropes made a mistake like that? Understandable... considering the members add to it, a lack of Research is hardly unusual...
TV Tropes is a funny site...

TV Tropes is a funny site... Some of the articles on there are still valid though I amuse myself sometimes by randomly reading articles for no reason.

| If anyone wants to de-redlink the example... Not It! As much as I like Felarya, I'm kind of afraid to be the one responsible for creating a page about a comic based entirely on Author Appeal.
I personally would put Felarya under "Web Original" rather than "Manga" since the it's not made in Japan (99% sure, correct me if I'm wrong), and more importantly, it's read from left to right!
It's not manga unless it's read backwards!

It's not manga unless it's read backwards! Left to right reading would make it like Manhwa, the Korean equivalent which can be mistaken for being manga. In my opinion, I would classify the Felarya "Manga" as Doujinshi, as it is a self-published work. And to add another trope, Karbo has Word of God on Felarya matters.

| Hmm... It seems there's a page called Weirdest Inbound Links of the Day Maybe we should be careful?
Unless you're one of those types who wants to get us on that list, of course...

| I've been doing some thinking, and I think I we should probably come up with a list of tropes seen in Felarya.
Let's see:
*Author Appeal: Quite obvious.
*Cat People
*Death World: The setting is much too dangerous for any sane person to visit.
*Fanon: Pretty common, as these forums indicate.
*Gadgeteer Genius: Anna.
*Gratuitous Japanese: Nekos, the aforementioned cat people.
*Humans Are Bastards: Most of the Humans that visit Felarya are portrayed as bad, though it's implied that the more sane people tend to stay away from the more dangerous areas, where the story's focus is.
*Interspecies Romance: Harpies are a One Gender Race, but they can reproduce by mating with males of other animal species. Any other animal species.
*Negative Space Wedgie: How the aforementioned Gadgeteer Genius was given her new form. (I guess you could call it a Naga-tive Space Wedgie?)
*One Gender Race: Again, justified by the harpies.
*Power Perversion Potential: Faeries in Felarya can change size, which can bring about rather, ahem, creative uses of this power.
If anyone can think of any others, let me know!
