Hurakan, the Storm of Hunger Empty
PostSubject: Hurakan, the Storm of Hunger   Hurakan, the Storm of Hunger Icon_minitimeSun May 01, 2011 6:12 am

A something I came up with yesterday, after reading the updated chronology in the wiki. Hope it makes any sense o3o

--

Legend tells that once every few decades, the magic that is poured into the Mist Ocean reaches a level far beyond what would be already considered dangerous enough, and the oversaturation causes magic tornadoes to be formed and clustered in one massive storm cloud, a crinsom mass of thunder and lightning that nearly engulfs the entire plain. And this terrible event is said to be but a prelude of things to come, for this means that the great Hurakan, the wind god, storm incarnate, has risen from its slumber

Hurakan is described as both beautiful and horrifying to behold. His gigantic body is shaped in the manner of a kite, swimming through the air as if it were water. Much of this mass is made up by countless wing-like ethereal fins, all of them of various sizes and shades of purple and white. Golden stag-horns line his back, shimmering in a rainbow of soft colors. The incredibly long tail is adorned from base to tip in silken, ribbon-like feathers. At the same time his skin is said to be constantly rippling and puckering and roiling in ever-changing shapes and openings, and from his underside hangs a torso, arms and head said to be human-like or dragon-like or some unwholesome combination of the two. And worse yet, Hurakan is perpetually surrounded by a spiraling vortex of wind and fog that further blurs his features, and supposedly can control the sky of the Mist Ocean as he pleases. Even his terrible scream is like howling wind. No benevolence resides in him, only a cunning, bloodthirsty animal intelligence.

From the moment of his awakening Hurakan roams the skies around the Mist Ocean, invigorated by the magic in the ambient, and sets to quelch his ravenous hunger. Every form of life from animal to plant is subject of his appetite, and running or hiding poses little help. Even elementals and storm sprites are seen as prey, and only the truly strong or cunning or the extremely lucky can escape Hurakan's hunger, or at least convince him to choose easier pickings, for his power within the foggy domain is inmense. This feeding frenzy will last several weeks, and at the end of it Hurakan will put an end to his feast and return to his lair in the Kjol Cliffs, where he will once again enter a deep sleep. As soon as he leaves, however, the skies are said to pour nourishing rain and magic to replenish all life Hurakan has harvested, and in time the plains will recover their former splendor, so Hurakan has an assured feast when he once again awakens

Hurakan's origin is shrouded in mistery, and no one can agree on what exactly he is. Some argue he is actually a dimensional chimera, the lone son of the guardian Notys herself, born untold years ago and claiming the Mist Ocean as his feeding grounds. Others instead claim he is an incarnation of the energies born in the Insatiable Hunger, having resorted to hibernating once the craze died down in order to survive
