Seidon Village
Population:  25
Danger: Low
Map Coordinates:  3-D

Seidon is the name given to the village by the explorer Sephre Seidon the Third, the same explorer who first discovered the 'Waterrise' phenomenon the Gaieochos Island is famous for. While exploring during his second trip he discovered a small village of about twenty people. Dark skinned humans who seem strangely casual and laid back despite living on an island in the middle of the Shimmering Sea or Felarya for that matter. He discovered they lived a simple life of fishing, singing and apparently playing in the weird gravitic anomalies of the island living it up as if they had no cares at all. No wars, no diseases and only minor predation from the local Mermaids. Truly a paradise but there was something that bugged him. They built no temples, practiced no magics and apparently recorded no history except by word of mouth shared from one elder, Ancient Gai, to his or her successor and even then it was at most five principal stories. He believed they must be protected by an artifact of some kind or powerful magic but discovered in fact the people had such little magical potential that they couldn't even produce a puff of smoke or a spot of colored light on a wall.

His answer finally came when a giant Sea Faring Naga set upon the village and it seemed it would be the end of the Seidonesse people and Professor Seidon himself until a forty foot tall Gorgan emerged from a nearby cave and with one withering glare made the sea predator little more than a pretty statue with a flash of her eyes he managed to catch in his pocket mirror. He then noticed that while he had been looking for tech or magical protection he had forgotten to investigate the island itself and it's lack of apex predators. If he had he would have noticed all the large rock formations that almost just barely resemble giants in horrified or surprised states and that the shoals he and his crew had run aground on were in fact the former tail of mermaid. His sketch book sits in the Museum of Kelerm depicting pictures of the Gorgan's victims though little is known about who she is and why she protects these humans while getting no benefit. But we do have his notes on the cave where she lives still to this day.

Perasam Cave
Danger: High
Inhabitants: Giant Gorgan, Mermaids, Bejweled Serpents,Chaelanas, Gaieochos Orcids.
Map Coordinates:  3-D

The cave itself is a massive slit in huge greyish mauve mountain sitting not far away from the coast with water rushing up into it and pooling inside. Inside the cave one will find under this pool  a number of sea faring fauna and flora native to the Shimmering Sea. Crossing here can be treacherous one will discover as there are 'wells' of intense gravity that can send one suddenly shooting up towards the razor sharp stalagtites that line the ceiling if one is lucky. A very odd sort of plant grows along the roof of the cave usually close to these 'risewells' and once prey are flung up from the intense gravity they will open their flaps and swallow it down with very little the prey can do to stop it. If one makes it past the pool they will find the back of the cave is the dwelling of the Gorgan. Usually not by seeing the Gorgan but by seeing the rows and rows of her humanized treasure hunter victims lined up near a mysterious shrine to some long forgotten goddess that vaguely resembles Luban. Though one really should keep their eyes downward as the Gorgon who calls this place home is adept at using the freaky gravity to slither along the walls or ceiling dropping down and turning whole groups to stone. It is said Professor Seidon attempted to ascertain the Gorgan's reasoning behind protecting the islands inhabitants by donning a blind fold and actually managed to get a sort of explanation. Apparently the Gorgan, named Petra, was cursed by Luban for devouring her favorite food and as such was cursed to guard her shrine in this dank cave. Many believe she just told Professor Seidon this yarn to get rid of him but some think that in fact Gaieiochos was part of the mainland at some point but something pushed it out to see drawing it closer to Iracal.

Gaieochos Orchid
Danger: Normal

A strange species of orchid that grows mainly near gravic anomalies somehow about to sense which way the flow of graviy runs and grow where the field will self feed it. It's favortie spot is the Persam Cave but the flower can be found hiding anywhere it can latch it's tendrils on the island. The flower itself is muted green and grey usually closed until it is ready to feed. When food is pulled by the natural flow of graviy to it's maw the flower opens its maw revealing a purple and blue interior lined with digestive juice. Digestion is almost immediate taking only about twenty five hours to complete. Once a flower has fed it will burrow down to digest it's prey. Oddly the orchid petal's are highly poisonous but the tendrils it spreads subtly are consumable. After eating one most will find they can 'feel' gravic displacements with more ease. So finding and killing one would be one's best bet to avoid the flower's trap ironically. The effect is very short lived however and slightly disturbing as seemingly makes one feel as though their skin is vibrating and shivering when close to gravitic disturbance.

Seidonesse People
The Seidonesse people are named so by Professor Seidon during his adventures on Gaieochos Island but they don't seem bothered by this fact as they have always called each other 'Gai' or 'Gal' with no real name to their people.

In appearance a Seidonesse human tends to wear very little clothing mostly just a skirt of leaves or shells and some body jewelry made from common stones or animal bones. Their skin is tanned but their hair is naturally colored bright shades of violet, puprle and mauve and tends to be left to grow wild and natural.  The men and women are reluctant to wear shirts or robes over their chests only covering their groins with self made bra of shells or plant matter. Their concept of modesty is lacking and they will walk around naked as the day they were born. They also are known to use leaves from the Goyup Tree and shavings of wood to make fans for staying cool, hats and even carrying satchels and purses as well as flimsy looking but quite durable sandals.

Native Tongue
The Seidonesse people speak in a simple and almost childish way never telling falsehoods or trying to make a conversation sound too stuffy or long winded. They are direct but pleasant about topics they like. An example of a Seidonesse man discussing the weather:

(Hmm looks to be storms on the horrizon.)
“Man the sky gods must be monda sad today. We should sing 'em a song, right Gai? But like some place less dampy and curled up to the warm glow, yeah?”

The Seidonesse people have little ambition besides fish and fruit gathering enough to sustain themselves but are always happy to see outsiders and freely encourage them to 'mingle'. Seidonesse women are particully seductive using a ritual of dancing on the ceiling and then leaping down in 'gravity glomp' to prespective mates. Men are less bouncy and usually will walk up and blunty ask to sire a woman's children rather man childishly.  Though they are quite possessive of their mates and will attempt to keep them to themselves or if convinced will follow them to stranger lands but usually their strange customs cause them to be very depressed and quite a few have commited suicide, sometimes taking their mate with them. A few have prospered though and managed to adapt to the 'strange' way everyone does things on the mainland. Being highly empathic many go on to be healers, councilors or something where they can help people experience a zen mindset. Because of their love of singing and dancing quite a few famous Seidonesse comedians have made their start in the cantinas of Kelerm. They make terrible laborers though.

Their idea of Government is loose at best. There's a 'Head Gai or Gal' and they pretty much tell everyone what they should do but people are free to ignore them. Mostly they only listin when there is little else to do or not other course such as when a mermaid's jugs bams yer home and you gotta rebuild or you find you've been bitten by a spider and need the 'Ow Ow Gai or Gal' to look at it. Curiously they do have a belief in gods of a sort but not the traditional kind like Minacala and Khord. They believe gods live in all things, rocks, trees and water and that you can speak to these things and convince the gods not to go and kill you or make your day less stellar. It is not uncommon to see a Seidonesse out and about in the world stop and talk to a boulder as if it were his neighbor. Because of their innocent nature many are made into slaves but oddly breaking a Seidonesse Gai or Gal can be harder than it looks and sometimes they can use their weird empathy to sooth even the deepest whip burns or shackle bruising leading a once  whole and effeceint work force to become apathetic and wortless. It is said the down fall of some ancient empires in the Shimmering Sea can be attributed to this.

Goyup Godann
A curious game they use to settle any disagreement they may have or simply when they are bored. Put simply they will go into the forest and run up trees collecting fruit and try to leap to another while holding their catch. This will continue until gravity reverts or they miss and fall. The one who does is the loser and must concede their point, even if they are right by all logical standards!

Woo-Nuunguung
Their songs are created by vibrating their throats and opening their mouths to produce a low oscillating melody almost like an electronic hum. Drums and a special type of guitar device are added along with somebody clapping shells. Weirdly the instruments seem to hum at a different frequency than the people naturally so it sounds very alien and yet magical. In weird way it is because when a group ois preforming the Woo-Nuunguung it actually alters the frequency at which most things vibrate briefly causing a sort of head rush and dizziness. Another game like play is to surf up the Waterrises and race around having blast till mermaid scarfs somebody.

Goyup Wood (Called Gaieochos Wood by outsiders)
Rarity: Common (on the island) Very Rare (elsewhere)
The Goyup Tree is mostly native to Gaieochos island. The wood itself doesn't look very different from ordinary wood but if one were to handle it they would find that while touching it their own gravity field becomes destabilized allowing one to walk as though they were in half the normal field of gravity. This enables people to jump great distances and run up th eside of trees even away from the odd localized phenomenon of Gaieochos Island. As such there is some demand for it on the main land where it is used to build durable yet light weight ships. Kelermians in particular barter for this mystical bark by the ship load and it's one of the only reasons they visit the little ilsand.

Seidon Shells
Rarity: Common (on island) Rare (Off)
A type of shell that washes up from the Waterrises that while not overly magical is a wonder to behold. They come in variety of colors and shapes ranging from typical sea shells to wilder hexagonal designs. Their natural colors are purple, blue and red on the inside with a gold or silver outside.

The Kadjurika would hold promise, but as it stands, they aren't making a lot of sense.

If they are a cursed species, then there should be a non-cursed specimen somewhere out there. If they need heat, there should be a reason why they stay out in the north instead of going somewhere warmer. If they are reproducing, then they can't really be under a deadly curse. I'd recommend making the freezing themselves part either a part of their natural metabolism, or a rumor.

If the ice forms armor and it can work for other creatures as well, it doesn't have to involve any level of sapience. You shouldn't be using the word "virus" either, it implies it's not a curse. You know you can't have the d-word in Felarya. XP

Those are good points, Stabs. I hadn't thought about the non-cursed species. I'll look into that, thanks. ^_^

Eh you are right. I was trying to make a semi-sentient curse or an organism like a curse that is sort of parasitically using the Kadjurika. But the freezing should be a natural creature feature you say? I could do that. Yeah seems people are in agreement there's no diseases in Felarya. I thought it was stated in the wiki though that infections were the real number one killer in the hungry, hungry jungle? Did I miss a memo? o.O

Name: Zeradon
Size: 10 Feet tall. Length 8 feet long
Threat: Awake, Low. Asleep? Surprisingly High!
Zeradons look like a cross between a dragon and snake only if somebody had forgotten exactly how they were supposed to look. Their bodies are long and possess coils like typical snake but also huge pectoral fins and arms that are covered in scales with clawed fin flaps for digits. They posses no back legs and drag their tails through the dirt in rather slow and undulating manner. They also have very long necks with wizened little dragonic heads sporting large fin-like ears and fanged snouts whose nostrils are quite over sized and always producing a yellow or blue mist. As you may have guessed the Zeradon is able to swim but not in water it swims through 'Dream Mist' the mysterious magical essence of dreams there the Zeradon glides on currents of the stuff seeking out victims who it's put there. You see the Zeradon is related to the Zorphalop in that it's breath is a noxious sleeping agent but unlike the Zorphalop it uses it in predatory manner putting the victims physical body to sleep then consuming it. Alas the nightmare of beign digested alive isn't all they have to worry about as the Zeradon then 'Dream Dives' into the Dreamscape and hunts the 'essence' of the victim even as they digest their physical body. The only good news is if the prey has any Dream Magic they can use it to fight off the Zeradon's dream avatar and possibly even kill or stun it in the dream but they still have the task of waking up and then escaping a dead or unconscious creature who's outer scales are very rubbery. It should be noted that only the tail of the creature has any nutritional value as it's 'sleep lungs' take up most of it's body. Being clumsy and awkward they are almost purely ambush predators and very solitary and competitive and will even fight one another in epic, but largely unseen, duels by breathing a blast of their sleep fumes at one another then engaging in a fantastic duel int he dream realms. Sometimes unwitting dreamers will describe one and talk of a battle so great no Negavian Theaterhouse production could hope to rival it.

Recent Vishmital genetic testing on the creatures has revealed several chromosomes related to Nemesis! A closely related as humans and pigs in fact though the Negavian Science Director has a theory on how that's possible. It seems Zeradons didn't show up in official record until after 1332 during the height of of Demechrelle's war with the light. When her grip over Felarya was strongest and Nightmares reigned triumphant. A shame so few Darkness Elementals from that time remain unsealed or friendly enough for an interview...

So...its some kind darkness being...its interesting that its more dangerous when asleep. That's a neat twist. Physical description is pretty cool, and it sound horrifying the way it focuses more on the mental horrors of being hunted, since if you're forced to be asleep, you wont really feel the digestion so much as feel trapped in the dreamscape. I wonder if one evades capture long enough to where they outlast their body they get trapped in Lydus or the dreamscape instead. :O

I'd have replied a lot sooner, but when you work 40+ hours a week its hard to do anything but sleep when you get home. XD

Why thanks! I got it from the Zorphalop what with them using the Dreamscape to make themselves harder to eat, so the opposite was to use it to hunt or gain an advantage.

Thank you muchly! =D I wanted something that couldn't handle rough terrain or seemed less of chase-you-down type than a "OMG what is that?! It's so horrifying! Ruuuuuun!" type. XD Yes! That is a trick you will not be in any kind of pain but you will suffer in a horrible nightmare where once your body is gone then they'll come for your dream essence to boot! Funny you say that I was going to add something on what happens to somebody who dies in the dreamscape. It's not Felarya technically is it? So does that mean if you die there you have to wait for a angel to dream so you can get rescued or a demon so you can get eaten? Perhaps just maybe you become a Dream Wraith a being made of nothing but dream essence and determination to survive. I think I'll make something about that after I log this...
