OC Themesongs

So, I was listening to some music when I thought "Hey, this would be awesome as a theme for Nergal." So I figured, why not make a thread for posting what you think would make good themesongs for your OCs. I'm actually surprised no-one has done this yet...So, here it goes. First up, Nergal.



Why Das Omen? Well, for starters you have to agree that it makes an excellent villain type thing. It has a fast enough pace to make it enjoyable, yet the tone and instruments used give it that darker feeling. Not only that, but have you seen the lyrics? It almost perfectly describes Nergal's character and personality.




Next is Nina:



I chose this one because it opens as something slow, soft, and nice. It then, rather unexpectedly, changes into something awesome, epic, and powerful before falling back to it's softer roots. Finally, the end gives feels more complete. Just like Nina. She's cute, cuddly, and small, not exactly what you expect an assassin to look like. But as soon as she decides to fight she can be just as ruthless and epic as the song. >.> And no, I did not choose this song because it was in the trailer for Assassin's Creed. That's just a coincidence. >.< The song's name is Damned, by Superhuman. And this was the only good, non-extended version I could find.

I may not know much about theme songs but I enjoy peppy Japanese songs almost too much! I once made a mock character album for Tarynn, envisaging VA Rieka Yazawa (voice of Kon Futaba in Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru) singing the song Title Nante Jibun de Kangaenasai na (originally sung by Miyuki Sawashiro.) It just sounds inherently angry and frustrated, and with Yazawa's strong, low and bitter voice inflecting harshness on some notes it'd suit Tarynn to a tee.





More recently, I've been mulling ideas for a secondary character who appears in some of my 4komas - that bushy-haired fairy. She was created to fill a need as no-one responded to my request for an lively giant-sized character in the Character RRR Program thread, and as such has no personality or depth beyond being a horrible person and proving excessively annoying (she doesn't even have a name!) In keeping with this irritating theme, I imagine her character song to be the brash Annaka no pyon! Pyon! Ehhh!! (originally sung by Kaori Sadohara), except being sung by Chiaki Omigawa (voice of Hotori Arashiyama and Mutsumi Mitsuba, amongst many others.) Omigawa's nasal voice would add a certain shrillness to what is already an in-your-face yet upbeat tune. The colours got darkened in the video making process; you can find her actual colours here.

With all my characters and all the instrumental game themes I have bookmarked on YouTube, I'm probably going to have to make multiple posts in this thread. XD

I imagine Exilon would go well with this theme:


It's not only upbeat, but it has the chiptune style, which is a pretty unique and non-mainstream style in this day and age; both of these things just scream Exilon. And if you've ever seen her RPed, you know how excitable she can be, and the character related to this theme is much the same.


And while I'm on Homstuck tracks, I think this'd go well for Taihaku:


It has a sense of being solemn and quiet, yet powerful, just like Taihaku. I've always imagined her somewhat 'samurai-ish' and I think this is the kind of tune that would suit a samurai IRL, so it connects.

Well in my updated bios I am putting what songs I think suit my characters best in terms of how the lyrics fit their character. So rather than putting the same here I'll find songs that capture the mood instead.

Which in the case of 'She Who Dares Wins' is quite difficult due to the moral ambiguity of the leading ladies. So overly heroic or villainy songs are out of the question as the characters can't be defined as either.

Winona Galen



I've picked this song for Winona, it's quite playful but dark at the same time, reflecting her sadistic yet causal and humourous attuitude.

Saskia



Saskia has a simulary playful and dark song. But this has a sort of jungleish vibe to it, As Saskia lives outside society. It's even more playful than Winona's as Saskia's version of sadism is more mischievous, While Winona bends rules and laws to her benifit, Saskia has none to begin with

Rachael Torin



Rachael is the secondary character that adds humanity to the story, the one who is the most moralistic out of the lot. So I had to find something very different for her. The lyrics don't really mean much. I picked it out because it sounds soothing and sophicated, fitting for a woman trying to attain what she wants but finding herself unwillingly breaking rules because of the people around her.

Fun, exciting, get-off-your-ass-and-dance music!! Awwww yeah, that is what Exilon is all ABOUT, y'all! XD And it just keeps going and going, too, which I don't doubt is what Exi would do if she listened to this, too! Suh-weeeeeeeet~

Also, I was inspired to make Zelkova by Date Masamune, a daimyo of Japan's Sengoku era/Edo Period. He's a main character, or a rendition of him is, in the videogame/anime series Sengoku Basara - which is seriously awesome and you should all go out of your way to play at least one of these games - and his theme is exactly what speaks to Zelkova as well.

I recently happened upon this beauty. It began making me think of my misguided superhero character, the Techno-Angel.

Spoiler:

It's got both a fun and upbeat side that speaks to T-A's personality, yet a sort of darker side that speaks of the dangers she faces in her "profession". And to top it off, it's got that space-age, hi-tech sound that just fits T-A exactly. :33

Saw the show Elementary recently and just thought the intro more or less repersented everything that my Winona/Mousetrap and Saskia characters are, visualy and musicaly. Shame it wasn't longer.

Picked Vangelis' Conquest of Paradise for Marcel. Conveys a nice sense of wonder and awe, which he's never in short supply of.


Picked Mecano's "Aire" (Air) for Elsie. Creepiest thing I can find for you to listen to: it's about a bad trip.
