There was a dull glow at the front of the cannon aperture.

"That glow is the cannon charging." Daniel explained, "I told him to be ready."

"Alright, that's cool. So, is this harpy territory, or something?"

"I don't know." Daniel replied, "That's why I had Alris charge his cannon."

"Oh, okay, that's co...wait. What's that over there? It looks like...harpies. And they're flying. Towards us! CRAP!!!"

"You know the drill, Alris." Daniel yelled, "Let 'em have it!!"

Alris bellowed and fired the cannon, sending a massive beam of energy at the harpies.

The beam killed most of the harpies, but three managed the dodge the blast, and were coming closer and closer.

"They're closing in on us!!! Do something!" Brent yelled out.

"Well crap. Of course I had to forget my crossbow." Spenser said as he pulled out his survival knife.

"Well, If they get too close, I can use this against them." Mica held up a long staff, and it was glowing a faint orange. It had many symbols engraved onto the handle.

"What's that?" Spenser asked, looking in awe at the weapon.

"It's a fire imbued stave. If I hit a harpy with it, it will burn, a lot. It may even set her feathers alight."

"Well that's pleasant. Let me try something..." Spenser closed his eyes and started to concentrate as a faint red aura surrounded him. He held up his knife and the aura jumped up to engulf it too. His vest began to give off a slight glow. Red sparks were floating around him as he opened his eyes. "Well it's about time I managed to do this! Unfortunately this doesn't do much in the way of strength, I mostly focus on diverting my energies to speed, but my knife is a lot more powerful now. I should be able to focus energy into a ranged weapon...let me try." As he concentrated, a glowing ball of red energy began to form at the end of his knife, but it dissolved into the air before it could reach full size. "Well...I suppose that's going to take a little more practice. So much for ranged, I can only hurt them if they get close enough for me to hit them."

The harpies were close enough to make out the expressions on their faces, and they just kept getting closer.

"Well, I suppose that won't be much to worry about..."

The harpies noticed that one of the humans and the neko had weapons, so they swooped underneath the dragon and slashed at it's belly and it's left wing, and flew off as fast as they could, but swooped back again to try another attack.

Some flaps in Alris' chest opened up and gathered energy, then unleashed the energy in the form of a rain of blasts.

Daniel pulled the .45 and aimed it at the remaining harpies, then fired.

"Here we go again...remind me to buy a crossbow pistol if we manage to find a settlement anywhere..." Spenser held his knife close, then held his eyes shut as hard as he could. Once again energy started surrounding the knife, another glowing sphere forming at the tip. He moved his other hand to hold on to the blade, and the sphere had not dissolved. "Well, here goes nothing." He swung his blade in the direction of one of the harpies, sending the ball of energy speeding towards her. It hit her directly, practically knocking her out of the sky.

The other two harpies saw her get hit, and made another swoop at the dragon, but Mica managed to barely hit one with her stave. The harpy's tail feathers burst into flames, and she frantically looked for a way to put them out. "Well, that leaves one more." Mica pointed to the one remaining harpy.

With a defiant scream, the harpy charged at them wildly, it's face getting close. It opened it's mouth wide, desperate to nab at least one of them for a meal.

Daniel aimed the .45 carefully and fired a single round, drilling the harpy in the head.

The harpy, obviously dead now, plummeted to the ground with a loud crash.

"..........Well, that take's care of our problem for now. Let's get the crap out of here before more show up.

"Hang on!" Alris bellowed.

"Hoo boy. This is gonna be a wild ride."

"Fasten your seat belts children, the bus is now in motion."

Alris dove quickly, tucking his seven wings in to increase his speed.

"HOOOOOOOLY CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP!!!!!"

Daniel didn't say a word as Alris dove.

"HOW LONG IS THIS GOING TO GO ON?!?!" Brent yelled as they plummeted.

"A few more minutes." Alris growled.

"Peachy." said Brent.

"Where are the in-flight peanuts? Where's the in-flight movie?"

"I'm a dragon." Alris growled, "I don't provide that kinda thing."

"What about flight attendants that give us the in-flight peanuts?"
