I have some Ideas

But I was looking at the great marches and i noticed there weren't any real threats from the water ^^
I was thinking, what about a Gator-girl? You know like a girl with gator features ^^

Swamp Gator-girl
Size: From 50'-80'
Appearance: Scales riding down their back, a large tail that can do some wicked damage. Eyes are often yellow and slitted
Danger: High, they can swim with great ease in the water and if necessary they'll jump on land and run you down! They are good at waiting at the water's edge for adventurers to come close then only get snatched up and made a meal out of!

Or a turtle girl xD

Swamp Turtle-girl
Size: 70-90
Appearance: They appear like normal women, nice soft body. On their back is a huge, hard shell...normally sense they live so long various plants live on their back, making them look like an island when their swimming.
Danger: Moderate, they are normally calm and peaceful...letting adventurers ride safely on their backs...But some more evil ones can easily trick girls onto her back and then when the times right flip them off into the water and gorge herself silly!

I like the ideas you have, especially the one about the turtle. It's pretty original.

This ideas are very original. Heck, they put mine to shame.

Oooo I'd love them to be rivals, there aren't many rivals for the mermaids anyway are there?

I agree, the idea of the turtle is really original ^_^
I loved the idea of vegetation growing on their back and that they are rather peaceful besides some times where "accidents" happens

A one thousand foot tall naga, one that can eat all of her competition....But shes a vegetarian xD and she doesnt consider Dryad's as veggies!

The characteristics of the turtle-girl sounds somewhat similar to that of a Dryad, in my opinion; but in the water, instead . Imagine the chaos if one let a group of people build structures on its back then just accidentally (or perhaps, not ) tilted itself. I wonder how the people would react .
