Nyaa, okay, here's a fun and better-thought-out-than-my-other-ideas idea! ^.^

It's an enchantment called Magic Hole. The user may cast it to create a "magic hole", which is a passage to a small mini-dimension unique to the caster. The user may then store and recall items in and from it at will. There is almost no limit to what can be stored in it, but the spell must be cast on an opening that can be passed through, such as a hole in a tree or a doorway. A magic hole cannot be used by anyone except the person who cast the spell in the first place, and will not open unless made to by the caster.

So it's pretty much private Bags of Holding and the like? Not exactly uncommon for fantasy, though this would have to (of course) be a pretty high level / difficulty spell. Why? Private dimension. That's not exactly something that's easy to create, let alone maintain indefinitely.

Seems like it'd be a ready bolt for escaping Vore, though, if you took a particularly digestion-resistant fabric that could stretch and pulled it over yourself. Problem being finding someone to let you out: Here's hoping you stocked enough food to last you for some days / weeks, or you're also a mage that specialized in conjuration / alteration.

Gotta agree with Mal here. I'd also imagine that it would take more power the more your put in.
This is definitely a high level thing. I'd imagine that spellcasters who have delved into high level portal making would be capable of this.

There's a similar Level 7 spell in D&D called Mage's Magnificent Mansion, where a mage can retreat into an extra-dimensional dwelling. However, there's only one way in and out, so at least, it would only buy the Wizard or Sorcerer a few hours.

BTW, Magic Hole isn't useful for transport. O: If a mage were to go inside their hole, the only ways out are the way they came in or the backdoor which opens right on the other side of the front, so yeah, Sean is right.

Which means it's often reserved for mages in the double-digit levels. Low-double, yes, but even on Felarya that's beyond the typical norm. Assuming we do some sort of scaling, anyways. And if we shift from Fantasy-level Mage Protagonist to Anime-esque, then the numbers bump up a good bit (they still don't become anywhere near common, but animes do seem to jump from about a handful of "Witness your doom!" Wizards to a dozen within the area of a province).

I think there's also some stuff like invisible chests / chests that are held in another plane, but even that is simply utilizing empty space in another realm and not creating said planar realm.

For Transport it wouldn't be too good, but for survival it wouldn't be too bad. Not that, if you have the resources to make a Magic Hole that's durable enough to survive digestion and keep its enchantments, you probably don't have other means of escaping a Giant Predator's stomach. But it would be useful for avoiding one, if you have proper supplies.

Wow, Malahite taking a simple "Hey, it sounds like this" way too seriously. Who woulda thunk it?

I like the idea of making the mage/wizard immune to digestion for a short time via the dimensional pocket. This being said we can all agree that TIME is the issue for the caster trying to survive. To speed up the process of the predators digestion... anyone get where I'm going with this?

Nya, the only problem with the theory of being able to use a Magic Hole to escape or avoid digestion is, where is the mage going to cast the enchantment? Actually, I have an idea for that! :O If the enchantment was put on to a sort of bag or something that the user carries with them, then if they got eaten, they could climb into the bag, wait for it to travel through the predator, then emerge after it is 'excreted'. The problem with that, though, is that the person wouldn't be able to know wether or not the bag had been 'dropped' yet without opening one of the entries and exposing themself.

All that said, I don't really like the idea of it being used to escape digestion or anything like that, to be honest. I was thinking a lot smaller when I came up with the idea, just something for people who need to carry a lot of stuff or who like to collect things, or even people who are just kinda' pack-ratty. ^^;

And about the issue of being able to support the dimension, would it be too much to have a sort of magic item that can support enchantments on it's own? Something like, if the user were to put it inside their magic hole, it would keep the dimension from collapsing for them.
