Ways of avoiding being eaten.

Anyway... I just want to know what are the primary ways of surviving after a predator has caught you. In the manga, you can see that magic works, but since most people don't have magical powers, what can you do? Begging and making a deal with the predators MIGHT work at times ("don't eat me, I'll lead you to others" or similar?) but what about devices, gadgets, and other items? For instance, I've been playing with the idea (not sure if it's done already though) of a potent drug or vial, which would make the predator throw up or have a gag reflex or such, thus freeing the person, atleast temporarily... The only problem with this is that to get the vial into her stomach, you'd have to be inside it, or very close...

Anyway, I'd like to hear what you others think of the matter.

Look into some of the other idea threads such as FOOD and like organizations that have their own means of countering predators.

However, the answer is that there is no dedicated or sure way of achieving it. Even with the items FOOD has available predators do occasionally still manage to eat the 'target'. It is dependent primarily on the will and ability of the respective individual.

Best way to avoid being eaten is that, when you're a group and running away from a big pred, you make someone fall off to give you more chances to survive. But you have t be the first to think like that

Make sure to avoid the mouth. That's usually how 99% of people get eaten here.

The last 1% is nose: humans are like drugs so they'll sniff you up 8D

It also very much depends on the individual predator. Each predator has his/her personality, preferences, priorities and habits or "rules" when it comes to food.

Wear really spikey armor. Sure it will inhibit movement, but who will want to try and pick you up? That or wear a powerful, bad-smelling perfume. Sure it will repulse everyone within a given range, but on the other hand it will repel EVERYONE within a given range.

Cover yourself in cod liver oil. Won't work around mermaids.

Wouldn't stop Crisis. Her skin's too tough.

Perhaps carry a bunch of cyanide tablets in case you are eaten by a giant pred.... after escaping the dead corpse that should be enough to deter other giant preds.

Depending on the size, sharpness, and material, it could mess up a lot of predators' day. After all, are you going to grab a porcupine with metal quills?

Also, it would kinda work, but you're better off with the spikes in a more portable form, like on the end of a pole.

I seem to remember giant nagas being able to resist hits from low caliber firearms. That's where I got that fact from. Besides I have great faith in Crisis to be able to eat you no matter what you do. She's been around a long time.

You could always cover yourself in naga dung. That would probably stop her. I'm sure it would stop Anna or Kat.

Or you could wear a t-shirt with the words "I <3 Lea" on it. Worth a try.

A pistol round will penetrate a giant's flesh. But due to the sheer amount, it's not really going to go that far in, it's like sticking the tip of a pin in your arm. It'll hurt, but not enough to be a big deterrence to something you really want.

I still feel Crisis could deal with spines. She's got a very tough stomach after all.

My three mercenaries each have their own ways of dealing with preds - Kurt hides, Felicity runs/seduces, and Raz'dul [censored to prevent spoilers]. There are ways to not get eaten, but they are usually either very expensive or extremely dangerous. Or both. Still, nothing human-sized races have built so far compares to actually having a predator on your side.

Oh I agree. That's why I always try to stick close to Katrika or Nix. It's just safer.

Take a big nasty-tasting dump in their mouth as soon as they eat you. I have confidence no predator in its right mind would eat you after that.

Unless they cannot get by the predator, individual groups of humans can fall back on that option.
