New Moderators?

I think it's time to add more moderators to the roster.
There are few mods that are active these days, and most of the mods seem to be dead.
Shouldn't we add a few more? At least one or two?

I suggest those moderators that never actually log onto the forum be removed from the roster.

I think it'd be a good idea. We need a little more active moderation around here. Stabs can't do it all by himself.

I agree with both ideas. I haven't seen any mods in the chatbox except Stabs since I joined. A moderator, in my opinion, has to be someone who is active, someone who is at least somewhat liked by the community, and someone who contributes.

If a moderator hasn't been on the forums for weeks/months, it gives the idea that there are more active mods than there actually are. Moderators in most communities are seen often and they keep the community together. Removing the inactive mods from the roster would at least simplify the list.

I agree as well. In addition to Stabs, DZ sometimes shows up, and I believe he has his own method of watching stuff. Regardless, more would be good. Some people who are here, especially when others aren't.

Your potential candidates aren't going to be too much better than our current moderators. So as per usual with crap around here, it's going to be more of the same.

That was bit rude...infact that was a candidate for grim dark, and generalizing that everyone is going to be the same is pretty low too, But then you must have little faith in humanity in your past experiences as is based on your remark. So if your not going to say anything productive or even slightly and then list all your cons. Then why post?

No one on the chatbox wants moderatorship except you and Bael, you and Bael are not on often. The choice between mods other than you and him are people that will go mad with power and try to stamp out every tiny bit of RPing... or run away at the first sign of conflict.

It's not liek I really want to be, I'd like to to support stabs if anything but that's not my place, I'd rather get asked by invitation (And sure I've suggested it) then say "Oh yeah, i'm totally ready." And i'm on almost everyday to check something or seeing the livelyhood on the chat, even if it's for a little bit. Out of any cirumsctances i'm thinking if there are new mods, that they can be looked upon at a high interest other then "oh yeah they are a moderator." Something like "Oh yeah they're a moderator, but they also have some keen interest on fleshing out the highfantasy,negav,sci-fi aspects, character bios. Maybe you can ask them to work on that with you if you need the help." Pumping up the fourm in morale and development in a way. Not saying to put that in their name of moderatorship but i'm imaging if people would look at them more like that (A mutually well thinking leader) then "the moderators" They would be more active (if not busy with Real life complications and experiences) then in turn it'd make them a bit more active and probably remind themselves to enforce the rules a bit more since they're obligated to do so when that's a problem. Kind of what like what Ilceren said earlier, there's not real much to moderate but other qualities would be nice in my opinion.

(Edit: Also, as for removing old mods thing, why first off, they may not be active but unless they say otherwise themselves just let them sit there for about year of no contact with "Boss" before even thinking of that.)

This is a very odd thing to say, especially considering you have only joined this month and have a total of 3 posts to your name...

I'm on a lot actually, I mostly just watch though. I like how everyone is just voting who they think is best. Here's what's happening:

Most of us on the forum want someone who's active all the time, and vote who we think is best suited for that role.

The current moderators discuss it among themselves, and decides who is most responsible, not likely to start a flame war or an argument, or anything highly controversial, not just someone who posts a lot. They have their own ideals that they need to hold moderators too. I think its important for those aspects to be made known to the general forum community around here too. Often these two ideas clash though, the community and the mods have different ideas of who's best suited - which is unfortunate.

Yes, I'm sure it is known among many who've been here for a while that I've wanted a modship for a while, but I don't want to advertise it, write a big statement about how I vow to act as a moderator, really. If they want to know something, I assume they'll ask me about it.  I'd also appreciate Bort not to spill all my dirty little secrets.

Personally, I think the dA group need new mods much more than this place, if only because as soon as FS needs to leave for one reason or another, submissions need to screech to a halt. The fact this happened multiple time with no one taking action really shows that this needs to be fixed ASAP.

Yes that's true. There should always be a backup as there should be no one man teams even when it comes to modship.

Just looked at the list of mods, as I see them every day, just as you all do. I was just wondering. The only two mods I ever see around are RavagingVixens and Stabs. I've seen Darkstorm post a total of "I-can-count-them-on-one-hand" times since his "inaguration" (I always remember him being very level headed, which was refreshing), Ilceren is basically gone for who knows why, and FrenchSnack is around, but only posts once every blue moon, and only in the Wiki Corrections thread.

Oldman, Silent_Eric, Timing2, Darkstorm,and Ilceren I never see anymore, leaving us a total of 3 moderators who are commonly on, and two who are regularly active, no offense to those that are still here that I mentioned and just have gone dark for whatever reason.

I think its bad luck that 4 out of 5 of the appointed moderators (two have been removed due to absence, right? maybe more?) leave or go dark after being appointed. I don't know what the decision to remedy this is though. Just thought I'd share what I was thinking on the matter.

I'll just add in that, if I recall correctly, Ilceren was moving. I might be wrong. I think he also have school piling up, too.

I'm not sure what there really is to moderate around here right now anyway, though, so I don't think it's too big a deal.

Is Ilce moving?

I have school and work, and most of my time is consumed with that, studying, or sleeping. I couldn't comment during the first months of the year because of a home-political issue.

Anyway that's not important. Its not like the forums are raging with rage in a raging environment X3, so you're right.Still though over half our moderators are inactive, missing, or otherwise.

My plan is working, soon all the mods shall disappear and chaos shall reign over the forum!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Sorry, had to do that. ^_^;;; Seriously though, Ilceren is still around but as Nyaha said, he's currently busy. :3 We could use some new blood that's on more often though, because the only ones I see on are Stabs, Vix, and Ilceren.

Oh I'm here, and I'm watching. I've just been extremely busy, My birthday, my new nephew being born, work, work, work.... AND dealing with the catastrophy that happened on Spacebattles has, quite literally, eaten my time out from under me.

Yessss I would love to see some new moderators! how about a new nice one? that would be the best:)
