| I noticed that there aren't any dragons living in Felarya (save for the Crystal Dragon, but that's really a sea serpent), and so, as the dragon-lover I am, I was wondering if you could help create some dragons for Felarya. You can create your own, or get them from games/books/tv shows etc. If you drew a picture of the dragon, plz post a link to it or put it on the wiki, along with descriptions of the dragon. Thanks | |

| Alright- this is the thing:
Some users have expressed extreme dislike of the idea of classical dragons living in Felarya in general. Although it's cool to think of dragons, I have to admit that sticking them in Felarya without a reason or niche doesn't do Felarya any good- and makes it closer to other fantasy worlds. While I still don't think that dragons should be permabanned for solely being dragons, I think that if you do want a dragon part of Felarya, it would have to be by its own merits as a creature.
That said, and inb4 CAPS LOCK FOR SCARY, I oppose this thread as it does more harm than good for people with ideas for dragon-like creatures.

IMPUTENCE!! ... *Ahem* The ONLY dragons I'll tolerate are the ones nobody seems to like. Medium sized - like say, tyrannosaurus sized AT MOST - non-magical, non-talking, non-smug, non-condescending, non human-genitalled, non-offensive ones. Like say, the cloned dragon in that Sci-Fi original with Dean Cain. Or Zok, from the Herculoids. THOSE guys had class.

Yep, I have to agree with GREGOLE on this one. The idea of the fantasy dragon..a kind, wise, magical, talking, intelligent, massive, long-necked, small-headed, dragon is far too common and far too much of a chliche. Felarya has some fantasy elements (magic, elves, faires, etc) but it really isnt a "fantasy world". Felarya is a strange mix between fantasy, science fiction, and its own uniqueness. The sterotypical fantasy dragon would be way out of place in Felarya. I know I prefer to see dragons as deadly, predatory creatures...intelligent, but not with a human level of intelligence. I think that dragons more along the lines of what GREGOLE is talking about, or even dragons similar to the ones from the movie Reign of Fire might be able to find a niche in the ecosystem as a non-sentient predator. Reign of Fire dragon another Reign of Fire dragon

-that shouty bloke from Reign of Fire on Dragons
Seriously, i must agree with GREGOLE on this one, but on differant grounds. I ultimately just can't see Dragons squeezing in anywhere, unless they happened to travel from Dungeons and Dragons. Seriously though, Dragons, like Orcs, are pretty much done to death. Let them lie down in peace.

| The funny thing to me is that. I never really notices the lack of Dragons. There just seemed to be no reasonable way to have them around just like Vampires and Zombie's and no one has any problems with it. Now in Hell go for it that is still being developed. So go for it there. | |

| I think there used to be dragons in Felarya but Anna ate them all for smoking.

| Well there is actually dragons in Felarya, if you look at the fauna in the wiki, but they aren't very important creatures. I happens to not be overly fond of dragons either ^^; | |

Tanya-"WHAT DO YOU MEAN VAMPIRES DON'T FIT? Joshua and I take grave (sorry) offense to that remark!" Out side of spell casting abilities. They might as well just be really well trained human Mage or Sorcerer. The only thing is they would slightly more feeble. They can't go out in the daytime and they can't come back if killed in Felarya. So there is no reason for them. They can bite people and suck blood but so can a fly or a tick. So at best they can qualify as glorified blood sucking insects. And Quaz has that and just about all glorified insect titles on lock.

Killing off a good and interesting character for no reason at all. The title of vampire is a pointless race in Felarya. The pro's are out weighed by the cons. However the constant threat of death gives them more interesting stories because of the extra weak points. So it makes things a lot more difficult. - /Fish/ wrote:

I have my reasons-none of which I feel this is the appropiate place to discuss.
For the record-I LIKE dragons. Sorry GREGOLE

| Thank you.
I have to agree that the classic dragon just dosn't seem to fit very well in Felarya at all. I find that a bit sad.

Soo...... its sad that Felarya has become something more than a generic fantasy world, and has in fact, formed its own highly distinct style and flavor that is independent of cliches? ........ Who are you?

| See now that's what I'm talking about.
SOMETIMES dragons would assume human form in mythology, but then again, so did most animals.
I HATE the idea of talking dragons, and would probably have a heart attack if the Felarya universe were to become polluted with such a vile concept.
