Shadow People

The Shadow People are a race of completely black, two-dimensional beings. Shadow People appear as shadows without any source. They seem to have no permanent shape, though they usually take humanoid form. They are often found hitching rides in people's shadows.

The Shadow People seem to be a sentient race, though it is difficult to tell very much about them as they are so different from three-dimensional beings.

Shadow People are unable to interact with three-dimensional beings except under special circumstances:

1. Their target must be between at least two walls that are no more than 15 ft from the target
2. There must be a source of light illuminating the target
3. They must emerge from the target's shadow

Once all the conditions are met, a Shadow Person is able to briefly interact with the target. This interaction typically consists of grabbing the target and dragging it through its shadow and into the two-dimensional world of the Shadow People, where the Shadow Person then devours the target.

Frightening! Yet very awesome!

That's scary I had a nightmare after reading about the shadow people last night. But it's a cool idea. And what's with the "wall" part needed for interaction?

I think it was an example about distance.

Sorry, I wrote it at one in the morning, so I wasn't very coherent. The wall part is a limitation of their power, and it does not necessarily have to be a wall per sei. For example, it could be between two trees, or between a large rock and a tree, as long as the two objects are at least as big as the target.
