| I keep having this daydream where this guy, going downstairs for a midnight snack, finds Felarya to be connected to his kitchen. Still only half awake, he wanders in...
Of course, I'm not quite sure what to do with this idea. I know I could get a story out of it, but I really don't know how it would work. Could someone help?
(By the way, I'm pretty sure I want this to be a story where the main character doesn't end up getting killed.)

| Hm, nice idea... are you planning to use canon or origional characters? | |

I don't know, maybe a combination of both? ... I also keep thinking of a chase scene with a naga being set to Snake Man's theme. Seems appropriate, huh?

| It was a day like any other for Dave Walkman. He had spent much of the day at the restaurant where he worked, doing menial tasks in the kitchen. He often wondered why he even bothered trying to earn money to pay his college tuition, he certainly wasn’t doing very well, and his life in general seemed to be going downhill. His girlfriend had broken up with him the previous week, and he was finding it harder and harder to keep up in class.
He had moved out of the dorms last year and into the student apartments that the school offered at a reduced price. It was nice to have an entire apartment, he thought, even if it was a very small one.
After finishing the rest of his work, he decided to go to bed. The day had been long and tiresome, and he felt that he deserved a good rest.
“Urgh, what a day,” he thought to himself as he lay himself to rest. He closed his eyes, and in a few short minutes he was asleep. He slept dreamlessly for several hours until a strange series of noises woke him up.
“What are those weird noises?” he thought. He looked at his clock as he got out of bed. It was 2:30 in the morning, and the many noises of a jungle were going off in the other room.
“Geez, what the heck is going on with those noises? If I didn’t know better, I’d say there was wildlife in my apartment!”
It was then that Dave realized that he had forgotten to eat that night while working. The low rumble of his stomach was almost completely drowned out by the noise coming from the other room, but it was still obvious to him that he needed to eat.
Still only half awake, he stumbled into the room where he kept his miniature refrigerator, and took out a cold slice of pizza that he had been keeping for the past week in there. The slice had gone completely stale, and the cheese was so brittle that it snapped into pieces when he bit into the slice, but he had grown used to the texture of cold pizza early in the morning.
Something was different, this time though. He had failed to notice it at first, but by the time he finished his slice, it was no longer possible to overlook the bizarre phenomenon in the room. Right where the far wall of the room used to be, there was now a line of dense jungle foliage, and coming from it were the same noises that had woken him up just a few minutes ago.
“What the hell? Why is there a rainforest in my apartment?!” Dave thought. It couldn’t be real, he had to be dreaming. There’s no way a jungle could just appear in one apartment.
“Must be one of those lucid dreams I’ve heard about,” he thought to himself.
Not knowing the danger he would soon find himself in, he pushed his way past the foliage and into the wilderness beyond…

| Just a quick update. Kind of busy this week, but I'll be able to finish the next part this weekend, most likely. In the next chapter, Dave ends up befriending a fairy named Fawn after saving her from a carnivorous plant. | |

| As dave pushed through the jungle, he whistled happily, not aware of the danger he could attract. Convinced that the world he saw wasn't real, he continued through the trees and wandered aimlessly through the jungle.
He found the world fascinating, as it had many plants and animals that he had never seen, some of which were stranger than anything on earth. The trees were absolutely enormous, with trunks possibly wider than a giant sequoia; some were so large that he couldn't even see the top. The one that interested him the most was a tree that possessed fruit that seemed to be pulsating, sometimes even beating like a human heart. The area was dotted with odd white flowers that seemed to thrive in the moonlight, and unlike most flowers, they remained open even in darkness. The flowers made him feel odd, he felt as though he was losing a part of himself, but he couldn't tell what it was.
He continued to wander as he looked at the wonders that the jungle held. After a minute, however, he stopped dead in his tracks. After traveling through the moonlit thicket of dense vegetation, he saw something strange. He had reached a clearing, where the vegetation thinned, and the sun appeared to be rising beyond it. Dave looked at his watch. It was 3:00 AM, and the sun should not have been rising at this time. It was like he was in a completely different time zone. Even stranger, the vegetation behind him was unaffected by the sunrise, and it even seemed that it was at a perpetual midnight compared to the clearing!
As he crawled into the clearing, he tripped over a vine at the edge of the vegetation. As he fell to the ground, he felt a moderate pain in his knee. He had scraped himself, leaving a a visible blood and grass stain on his boxer shorts, which he wore without pants.
"Ow, geez!" he thought, clutching his leg. It was right then that he came to a realization.
"Wait a minute, since when can you feel pain in a dream?" he thought to himself.
"Is this real? Did I actually wander into a jungle in my apartment?"
"No, that's ridiculous, there's no way this could be real. It has to be a dream. Either that, or I'm going crazy."
He decided not to think about it, and continued wandering into the clearing. He kept walking for about a minute until something caught his attention. Dave stopped dead in his tracks. He thought he saw something moving in the corner of his eye, but he couldn't see what it was...
He started walking again, but it wasn't long before he saw another movement.
Turning around, he yelled "Hey, is there someone there?" There was no answer.
There was a long silence. Dave, slightly on edge, decided to continue walking. He knew someone was following him this time, and he was prepared to defend himself, even if it was just a dream.
After another minute, he heard something moving. It sounded like dragonfly wings, and the sound seemed to be getting closer.
The sound was interrupted shortly after by a "GLOMP" noise. Dave heard someone screaming.
"Gaaaaah! Get it off me! Get it off! Getitoffgetitoffgetitoff!"
As he turned around again, Dave saw a tiny humanoid figure being engulfed by the bud of a strange carnivorous plant...

| Hey. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm going to be able to finish the next part next weekend, and I'd appreciate some feedback or suggestions.
If anyone has anything to say about the story so far, don't hesitate to say it, okay?

Haha, I've had this idea for a long time too. Of course, mine was the living room was Felarya, so the guy sleepily goes down the hall, through a section of jungle, into his kitchen, makes cereal, and is halfway through eating it before he double takes and realizes there is now a collection of trees where his living room was. For more excitement, add a Dryad in his living room. Such a classic idea. Good initiative Meyou.

| As Dave turned around, he saw a strange-looking flower bud writhing about behind it. The flower seemed to be engulfing a small female humanoid figure, about six inches tall. The flower had already engulfed most of her body, with only her arms, shoulders, and head still free. As she struggled wildly against the strange plant, she let out a shriek.
“No! I won’t let this happen! You’ll never get me, you stupid plant! I won’t… MMPH!”
Before she could finish, she became completely engulfed by the flower bud, and a vaguely human-shaped lump appeared in the stem, moving towards the ground.
Thinking quickly, Dave leapt toward the flower, grabbing it right below the figure trapped in the stem. As he saw the figure continue to struggle, he pulled the stem upwards, and with an audible “snap”, the stem of the strange plant was broken off.
A thick mucus dripped from the bottom of the stem where it had snapped off, and Dave could clearly see that its interior was hollow. The interior of the stem was strangely fleshy and thick, and seemed to form a sort of muscular vein or tubule. Out of the stem fell a tiny female body. She had red, wavy hair that went down to her shoulders, appendages resembling antennae sticking out of her forehead, and a pair of insect-like wings on her back.
She gasped in exhaustion, looking up at the person who had saved her like.
“Are you...” said Dave, looking down at her with curiosity, “a fairy?”
The fairy got up, looking at him with exasperation. There was a brief flash of light, and Dave found himself momentarily blinded. He soon felt something gripping him tightly, pinning his arms to his body and preventing him from moving.
He heard a voice answer. “Of course I’m a fairy. What’d you think I was?”
When his vision returned, he saw that he was being held in one hand by the fairy, which had gotten much bigger…
