Enemies in the Midst

"That is the fairy I told you about earlier. And I don't know about you but Rurei is here because Leila saved her life, Joseph because Leila spared his....and Leila is being paid, very well to come along." Damien said seriously, looking to Kira and telling the complete truth, looking into the nekos eyes intently. "You are offered the same pay as well, when you are paid to do a job....well you are pawns. But Elliot cares about you, and Leila."

Leila scowled as she picked the man up. "You know, I don't like being threatened. Tell me, how much damage could you do if I bit your head off hmm?" She looked at the man in her hands. "You know what little guy. You have been polite, respectful, and understanding, and yet I am about to eat you. I think,since you have been nice, though a little quiet, I am going to spare you." She gave the man a small kiss, then slipped him into her shirt for safe keeping and glared down at Christina. "I am going to politely ask you again. Please tell me what you are."

"Those two ideas don't go together, idiot," Kira retorted. "I'm not just going to go around and let myself be used by anyone, especially that asshole, no matter how much her claims to "care" about me, or how much money you're offering, OR how much you need my power!!"

She felt stubborn on this one. Being in control of her own life was the most important thing to her. Letting some jerkass fuck around with it wasn't going to slide.

"We aren't ordering you to do anything....we are asking." Damien said sadly, looking into her eyes and offering his hand to her with a solemn expression. "Come with me, I promise that nothing will be kept from you anymore Kira...I swear it."

The man looked to Leila with a grateful expression on his face, going from calm, sad acceptance to glee in a matter of moment, happy he was given a chance to live, looking down to Christina.

"I like to play with fire." Christina said giggling, not stating her race, looking into Leila's eyes intently. "Don't eat me okay? I am not one who likes to be threatened, same as you, and I think we are on equal footing~ Despite my seize."

Leila sighed at Christina and frowned. "Demon then, right? Alright, you've convinced me. I won't eat or try to eat you." She set Christina on the ground and stood up, holding the other human close. "Well, I'm done eating. Shall we head back to camp Joanna? Or do you think we should unshrink Christina first?"

Kira paused for a moment, then turned away from Damien and sat down on the branch.

"I'm not going until that bitch fairy is gone," she said stubbornly. "After that, I'll think about staying with you guys."

She did wish she could go with them, or at least Leila and Damien. The rest she didn't care for, though she supposed Rurei was alright. Joseph just seemed like a wuss, and that wasn't something they, or she, needed. And...no, she wasn't even going to think about his name.

"Unshrink her....." Joanna said sighing heavily, shaking her head and tossing Leila her last human. "Go ahead and eat her, so we would both have two." Joanna said being kind, looking to Christina and grumbling to herself. "Half-Breed." She said under her breath.

"Listen Kira Joanna is going to leave soon okay? She is here to fuck with Elliot, she is sadistic and cruel like that. Not in the playful wait either. I don't trust her either, I am resigned to the fact she may attack us and try to devour Elliot, me, go cannibal on Leila. Elliot is trying to appease her tribe, but I told him from the beginning we should just kill them all." Damien said sighing heavily, showing he had some disagreements with his partner at times as well. Elliot was far more moral than Damien, Damien preferred to act now, resort to violence. Elliot liked to solves issues without fighting.

"Yes some water would be most appreciated." Rurei said with a smile. "I hope the others are okay..."

"If you were smart, you'd stay and keep me company. Let Elliot come get use when he's ready, eh?" Kira suggested, figuring they'd both probably be better without that guy. At that point, she just wanted to make sure she stayed safe and in control of her life; she didn't want to have to deal with that stupid fairy, even if it meant defending the acquaintances she'd made during this trip.

Leila easily caught the girl with a grin. "Thank you Joanna, you're very sweet to share with me." She set Christina down on the ground, then smiled polity at the girl in her hands. "This will only hurt for a second, I promise, then it will be all over, ok? Would you like to say anything before I eat you?"

Joanna grew Christina back to normal, narrowing her eyes at the girl. Christina only winked at Joanna, flicking her fire red hair back and running off with a slight giggle. Joanna only clenched her fists in anger, rolling her eyes.

"D-Don't eat me please Ma'am." The girl said nervously, it seemed she really didn't know what to say, she was taking short, shallow breaths and looking around the area like someone was going to come and save her, but no one was around. "I-I am a good person." She said stuttering over her words, inside she was sure the fairy before her cared very little, if at all about anything in her life, so she did not mention it.

Damien smiled to her a bit and looked down from the tree they were in, thinking for a moment and shrugging. "Alright, I will keep you company for a bit, Elliot will eventually come after us, then you can have him beg at your feet to come back." Damien snickered, in all honestly wanting to see that for himself, it would be perfect.

"They should be fine. It is Leila, Damien and Kira who took off. I think they are all more than capable of defending themselves." Joseph smiled, giving her some water from his canteen, putting it very carefully to her lips.

(Joseph: I am a wuss Kira!? I took on a fairy DX )

(Kira: And you lost and haven't done anything useful since except be Rurei's bodyguard and let's be honest - she can probably take care of herself. -.-)

Kira chuckled at the image. "Yeah, I might consider it if he did that. Maybe I'll step on his feet a few times while he's at it," Kira mused, once again half-joking. "What do you suppose I should ask for for payment? Maybe make Elliot my assistant and force him to test out numerous sex toys for women?"

The idea of giving that asshole Elliot what was coming to him herself made Kira grin. All the ways she could torture him for what he's putting her through....just, god yes.

Leila looked sadly down at the girl. "I'm sorry dear, I honestly am," Her stomach growled a little, cutting Leila off for a second. "but as you can hear, I'm hungry and need to eat. Plus Joanna gave you to me, it would be rude of me to not eat you." She gave the girl a gentle hug. "I'm sure you are a good person, and I honestly am sorry that it has to end this way for you. But hey," She looked at the girl with a kind smile. "at least you're a good person, so you know that you'll be fine in the afterlife, right?" She gave the girl another small, reassuring kiss, then quickly bit her head off and ate her. She then looked at Joanna with a grin and stood up. "Thank you again for sharing." She gave Joanna a hug. Shall we head back to camp?"

"Yea I will escort you back then take off back to my tribe." Joanna giggled lightly, walking back towards the camp with Leila, giggling happily. "I love feeling them squirm inside me~ So amusing." Joanna said patting her stomach happily.

"Just don't tell him the 2nd part." Damien said smirking, looking to Kira with a sinister expression. "Just tell him you need his help testing some new inventions, and get him tied down then just do whatever." Damien laughed, then lightening up. "Except kill him, don't kill him."

Leila nodded and followed Joanna. "I enjoy it too, but I always feel bad for them, what with how painful it must be in my stomach. If I had my wings I would have numbed them with magic, then I would have eaten them." she looked back at where her wings would have been and frowned. "I can't believe I wasn't fast enough to dodge that...I know I was caught off guard, but still...I'm lucky she didn't take my head off."

"What's up with you and that, anyway?" Kira asked curiously, leaning in a little closer to Damien. "You constantly complain, yet you always say "don't kill him". Is it just 'cuz it's your job; you some kinda' workaholic?"

Kira really did find it too odd (and annoying). She couldn't be certain Elliot wasn't controlling him somehow, or more likely, Elliot was still hiding something.

"I don't feel bad, they are food, they belong in my stomach." Joanna said heartlessly, looking to Leila with a small smirk. "I tried making friends with prey, never again, they are all on the menu, and never getting off....."

"Well, he is like a brother to me." Damien said seriously to Kira, looking into her eyes to show he was sincere. "Our pranks on each other may be more....potentially deadly and humiliating than most siblings, but we understand and care for each other." Damien was opening up to Kira, trusting she would tell a soul about what he was saying.

Kira scoffed, unable to understand Damien's choices. She said in response, "I couldn't willfully be "non-maternal siblings" with a guy like that."

Leila shrugged. "You're sort of right, they are food for the most part. Still, I wouldn't judge every prey species on how Elliot treated you, especially Humans. They're all so different and fun." She smiled down towards the tiny Human safely tucked away in her bra and gently stroked his back a little. "I've met plenty of Humans, and I still never know what to expect from them. Heck, I've even met two or three who wanted me to shrink them and eat them." She giggles at the memory. "You should give them another chance, they really do make wonderful friends and companions. Though most feel pretty uncomfortable about us eating other Humans, not that I blame them."

Joanna scoffed and said nothing, seeing the camp up ahead and walking into it, the humans looking to her with an angry expression, Elliot was awake and dressed by this point, going over inventory and doing a head count, surprised they had not taken a single casualty this entire trip, though it was a pleasant surprise.

"You don't know him like I do Kira...no offense. Really you should be on his side not mine." Damien laughed, looking into her eyes again and shaking his head, looking away. "Everyone but you and Joanna seem to like him, I am the one who is constantly talked about in a negative light because of my....unsavory practices....."

"At least you have the decency to admit it," Kira said stubbornly. "Just like I can admit that I'm lazy, foul-tempered, and stubborn. So I'll be on the side of whomever I like, thanks."

Kira looked upwards, towards the sky through the leaves as she remembered the words of her friend. "Just because someone does good doesn't mean they're a good person. Likewise, someone who does bad things isn't necessarily a bad person."

Leila winced inwardly at the expressions Joanna received, knowing that they did not exactly support her claim. Still, she smiled kindly back at the humans she passed and wondered how many of them trusted her and how far that trust went. Sure they had let her shrink and carry them, but that could have been because Elliot had commanded them to do it. She silently resolved to gain their full trust as soon as her wings grew back. As she and Joanna got close to Elliot, Leila saluted. "Sir, we're back."

Elliot smiled to Leila, shaking his hand to her. "Don't salute me, I owe you my life. I should be the one saluting you." Elliot said smiling to her with a sweet expression, glad she had returned, he and Joanna exchanging glares. "Get something to eat I am guessing? We are about to move about as soon as Damien gets back."

"Sorry Kira." Damien chuckled as he stood up, looking down from the tree and sighing. "We still waiting for Elliot? Or should we head back?"

Leila shook her head. "You're my commanding officer and my current employer sir. I owe you all the respects you would normally receive if I was a regular part of your company, and I will give them to you." She smirked a little. "After all, you paid for a professional, and a professional is what you will get." She nodded. "Yes sir, we managed to find some food. However, I'm afraid I ran into some trouble during the hunt." She pointed to her currently non-existent wings. "Someone didn't like the idea of us hunting, and I was a bit too slow. Still, it could have been worse. However, I am afraid you are now down one spellcaster. I'm still a pretty good shot with a gun, and I still smell like a Fairy so that will help us, but I won't be casting anything until these grow back." She went silent for a second. "They should be fully grown in about...I'd say three or four days."

(I'm taking that time from a story I read on DA. It was about a Dridder who was using Fairy wings to create a potion. She had captured a fairy and was pulling said fairy's wings off to be used. The wings took around three or four days to grow back)

"I'm not going back there until I get word that that fairy is gone," Kira said decisively. "You can go and check if you like, I'm staying here."
