| What video games would you want to become films? What would they be like? Would they suck? Here's my idea:
StarFox
In the year 2146, space exploration hit a new level when a new star system was discovered capable of supporting life. The humans dubbed it the Lylat System and named the planet they colonized Corneria. They then proceeded to explore the rest of the system. When they reached a world they dubbed Venom, they found a strange entity of unknown origin. The colonists took the entity back to Corneria for research, but it wasn't long before a corrupt scientist, Dr. Dorian Andross, decided to use the entiy's power for his own gain. The entity eventually bonded with him and he disappeared. The Cornerian Federation's most elite task force, StarFox, under the command of Captain James McCloud, were sent to search for him and found that he had hidden away on Venom. When they went to retrieve him, Andross attacked and managed to destroy McCloud's ship. Without their leader, StarFox was ruined and disbanded soon after returning to Corneria. Twenty-five years later, Jonathan McCloud, aka "Fox", is caught snooping around a Federation outpost. He is told the truth about his father's death and is asked if he would fill the position as the commander of a new StarFox. McCloud is about to leave when a mysterious fleet attacks Corneria. After Fox displays impressive flying ability during the attack, he agrees to rebuild StarFox. With his new partners, Ethan Lombardi (aka "Falco"), Thomas Daot (aka "Slippy"), Rachael Chambers (aka "Krystal"), and StarFox veteran Richard Conners (aka "Peppy"), Fox must discover the origins of this strange fleet and save Corneria.
And now, the cast:
Will Smith is Jonathan "Fox" McCloud, the son of James McCloud. Fox is caught snooping around on Federation property and is forced to become the commander of a new StarFox.
Hayden Christiansen is Ethan "Falco" Lombardi, a headstrong pilot who always wants to prove he's the best.
Daeg Faerch is Tommy "Slippy" Daot, the youngest person to be accepted as a pilot in the Federation. Slippy perfected his flying skills in fighter simulations in the arcades. He was so good at them that one day he got a call from the military saying they wanted him to train to be a pilot.
Halle Berry is Rachael "Krystal" Chambers, Fox's girlfriend. When she finds out that Fox is the commander of his father's fighter squadron, she joins up to show off her own flying skills and is accepted.
Vin Diesel is Leroy "Wolf" O'Donnell, a former member of the Federation who got fed up when Fox rebuilt StarFox and he wasn't asked to join. He now leads the rival squadron, StarWolf, which is in league with Andross.
Johnny Depp is Andrew Oikanny, Andross' nephew. When he wasn't accepted into the Federation's science department, he left to follow his uncle and joined StarWolf.
John Leguizano is Jerry "Pigma" Dengar, a former member of the original StarFox before he was approached by Andross about leaving the Federation. When the original StarFox team investigated Venom, Pigma lead them straight to Andross and let him do the rest. He is now a member of StarWolf.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is General Pepper, a Federation leader assigned to keep an eye on StarFox.
Jon Voight is Richard "Peppy" Conners, a former member of the original StarFox.
Ian McDiarmid is Dr. Dorian Andross, a former Federation scientist who becomes possessed by a dark entity found on the planet Venom. He is now an all-powerful being that seeks to conquer the entire Lylat system.

| Wow. I have alot to contribute to this Forum. But for now, I'll just put this idea;
Imagine a world, where mankind has tamed the native beasts of the Earth, and now they have captured them and use them to fight in battle, tp become the master.
This is Pokemon; the Live Action movie.

| A Serious Sam movie would be pretty nifty, provided it was attempted in a way like Shoot 'Em Up.
I could also see them making a trilogy of movies on the Baldur's Gate series. Now, who would play Minsc? Boo is obvious (Harvey, the Wonder Hamster), but I just can't think of who'd play the Ranger. Perhaps his original voice actor?

| Here's another one, based on one of gaming's forgotten gems.
Splatterhouse
Two parapsychology majors, Rick and Jennifer, go to an old abandoned mansion for a class project. While they investigate, the two are attacked by an unknown assailant who kidnaps Jennifer and leaves Rick for dead. When he comes to, Rick finds that a mysterious mask has stuck itself upon his face and has given him superhuman powers. Rick decides to use these powers to enter the mansion and rescue Jennifer.
The cast:
Vin Diesel is Rick Taylor, a man who is left for dead after he and his girlfriend are attacked by a supernatural force in West Mansion. He is now the wearer of a powerful mask and decides to use it to rescue Jennifer.
Alexa Davalos is Jennifer Wills, Rick's girlfriend, who is captured by demons in West Mansion. Near the end she gets turned into a demon herself, forcing Rick to kill her.
Tyler Mane is Biggy Man, an iconic character with a burlap sack for a head and chainsaws for hands. He was seen in the first game.
Doug Bradley is Dr. West, the scientist that created the bizzare experiments that now haunt the manor. He is only seen in flashbacks.
Tobin Bell is the voice of the Terror Mask, an ancient Mayan relic that attached itself to Rick's face. The mask goes along with Rick's plan to rescue Jennifer, but its true motives are still unclear.

| There needs to be a Halo movie. It had a great story line, but they would have to incorporate information from at least the first novel or there would be plot holes.
The only real problem is that there are never any truly great movies based off of video games. Don't make me bring up Super Mario Brothers. Doom was pretty close to being a great movie, but it fell short in quite a few ways.
I believe the best way to make a Halo movie a success would be to keep the script nearly identical, and not to throw in any useless references back to the fact that it was a game in the first place. An example is of course the first person scene in Doom.

| I don't know about your theory. I liked Super Mario Brothers and I thought the Silent Hill movie kicked ass. ESPECIALLY Pyramid Head! | |

Last I heard it was cancelled / on hold. Though it was looking nice with what they had done (The ODST scenes, for instance).

| I thought of one:
Final Fantasy 6: The Movie!
The War of the Magi, which took place a thousand years ago, left the world without magic. Now, the evil Gestahl Empire is trying to reharness that lost power. It is up to a band of unlikely heroes to help bring the Empire and its ruler down. But, someone inside the Empire has other plans.
The Cast:
Hayden Pannatiere as Terra, a former Imperial slave with the ability to use the power of magic.
Zack Ward as Locke, a cunning th- er... treasure hunter.
Christian Bale as Edgar, the king of Figaro.
Hugh Jackman as Sabin, Edgar's twin brother.
Skipping the other characters, as there are just so many, we come all the way down to:
CJ Collins as Kefka. Seriously, who else could convey Kefka's insanity better than the greatest Kefka cosplayer in the world?

| ^Way up: Wow...those are almost perfect matches for the HL2 cast. ANYWAY: SMB movie was really messed up, and I don't think anyone can change my mindset from "Movies about games suck" until they have excellent proof. About the Halo movie, it isn't canceled, apparently (what was it...Universal Studios I think...) pulled out of the deal to make it, so now It's on hold until they find someone else to help make it or whatever. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG MOVIE. *dives behind couch as raving fans and naysayers flood onto stage* ...Yeah, that would probably be a disaster of epic proportions. They don't know how to handle their games very well anymore, so I think a movie would be a kaput. How about Warhammer 40,000? They have plenty of content to leech to make a movie. If the right people did it, then it could be really interesting. | |

Yeah, that'll happen soon with the final main game out. - Quote :

Unfortunately, most of it is GRIMDARK or just plain violence. Best bet would be WHFB instead. Not to say I wouldn't watch it, especially if it was live action and both good [see: no forced romance or morals at the end] and had the person who played Commissar Holt.

But then they have to make a canonical Nerevarine character.

Dude, Patrick Stewart is never boring. Except when he dies at the beginning. Then it gets boring.

| i reckon that ff 10 would make a pretty good movie but 5 would probably be good too
but a game that would definately make a good movie, so long as it has al the right ingredients, is either gta 3 or 4
assasins creed would probably make a really good movie it would be like a historic adventure, religious (messages written in blood if you look up the meanings), and in a way historic war movie (set in 3rd crusade)

A young woman (Shawnee Smith) is unwillingly thrust into an experiment run by an evil corporation, with the world's most intelligent machine as her guide.
Guess. | |

| Give up on the last one? Okay then. Here's the tagline.
"This fall, the cake is a lie!"
Portal: The Movie! The first 20 people to see it will get free cake!
The cast:
Shawnee Smith as Chell, a young girl who is thrust into an experiment by Aperture Science for their new hand-held portal device.
Ellen McLain as the voice of GlaDOS, the computer AI charged with running the experiment and baking the cake.
The Weighted Companion Cube as himself.
