Sapin tree and fruit

Sapin tree:

A semi rare tree that only grows near older dryads. The tree will grow to over a hundred feet in less then 4 years after it sprouts and stops growing taller once reaching around 230 feet at around the 7 year mark, at which point it begins growing wider quickly, reaching a circumference of nearly 60 feet at about year 10. at around the 12th year it begins blooming with very beautiful pink flowers that are similar to tulips in shape. Then they begin growing pink fruit at around year 14. The fruits grow to about 12 feet around and 15 feet tall, but can be easily shrunken by fairies. The tree itsself has a short life even on Felarya, and will spontaneously fall over and begin decaying at about the 35 year mark. But within a few years another will start to grow in about the same location.

Sapin Fruit:

The Sapin fruit is a peculiar one which can be used as a staple of a predators diet in the case of a lack of normal prey. Predators normally don't mind eating it as the fruit itself tastes like your average human. When a dryad tries to eat one on the other hand, the fruit is horible tasting and slightly poisonous, not poisonous enough to kill them just give them a stomach ache.

... Wow. That's very... interesting. Not sure what else to say about it, other than it's a neat concept, and I like the choice of name.

Edit: After further consideration, you might want to have them only grow in places that are hard to reach. If they grow right next to Dryads, there's not much reason for a Dryad not to just eat all the fruit she can.
