Central Corporation Empty
PostSubject: Central Corporation   Central Corporation Icon_minitimeSun Aug 28, 2011 3:23 pm

Hi Everyone! I'm just here to post an idea that may or may not work, tell me what you guys think and I'd love some constructive criticism with advice as I am new here XD

Basically, since Felarya is a world where dimensional portals exist. I thought up of a new group of humans that come from a technology advanced world.

This particular group of humans work for an organization known as Central Corporation, a military company that uses soldiers as mercenaries on the world of Felarya. These mercenaries are usually paid by traveling merchants to be protected. The mercenaries never travel alone and are always in groups of 5, which is why hiring them would be expensive.

About the world that these humans came from, their world is a particularly safe place, but democracy had died out when Central Corporation took power as the world's government. They imposed a strict military regime and focused mainly on economic prosperity and building an empire, which is why they have come to Felarya.

Now just like the Miratans, the People of Central (mainly the corrupt soldiers) have a superiority complex believing that the human race has the right to dominate all others. When they arrived on Felarya, they had immediately decided that they would legalize Felaryan slavery (As if that would ever be successful XD) when they saw how the barbaric fairies and giants were eating the small.

Surprisingly enough, they have a code of honor that is never broken without consequence. All agreement are made in contracts and they always keep to their word whenever they agree to do a job. Mercenaries from Central Corporation are never allowed to take jobs that involve killing another person being unless they are ordered by the Chairman of Central himself. They only kill when threatened by others. However, this does not mean that they are exempt from corruption, some mercenaries tend to make up stories about how the victim struck first in order to justify their actions. Some even hijack military cargo ships and steal military weapons to sell them illegally to many people on Felarya and claim that the Nagas must have blown up the cargo ships. Not many get away with these excuses.

Central Corporation also sends many skilled tacticians for human colonies who need help on creating a manageable community. Not only that, but many scientists and doctors were sent to Felarya to conduct extensive research on the soil and many of the inhabitants. These scientists often trade information with the more experienced scientist that came to Felarya before Central.

Here are two OCs that relate to this idea:

Unfortunately, I'm not seeing this working as it is now.

So they use mercs for their operations on Felarya or do they supply mercs?
The former would be far more cost efficient.
Why?
Home advantage. Felaryan native mercenary groups are going to have an advantage over offworlder mercenaries for the simple reason that they have the experience to survive in Felarya. They know what they're up against. They can prepare and plan for it. They know what works and what doesn't. They aren't going to be shocked stiff when one of the weird and/or wonderful denizens of Felarya make an appearance.
Yeah sure, you can brief offworlders about what it'll be like, but it's not a substitute for real experience.

That said, nothing says they can't fund native merc groups.

Ok so, Humans are bastards! But wait, these humans are from a global megacorporation which runs a stricly militarized police state?
Could they be any more bastardly?
Well, technically yes, but that would make them even more ridiculous than they already are.
This is kinda silly really. It's a bit over the top and doesn't quite make sense.

The slavery thing doesn't make sense either. Capturing a giant predator would take massive resources. It would be easier to kill it.

This is also silly. Huge megacorporations don't take over the world by having honour or being strictly reactive. Neither do mercenaries survive by shooting after they've been shot. Why? Well since they would get a reputation for it, enemies would know that all they need to do to defeat Central Corp mercs would be a massive infiltration and alpha strike. Pretend to be non-threatning and then murder them all since they only shoot when shot at, all the resources of an enemy can be put to wiping them out in that first shot.

Mercenaries are professionals. Professionals have standards. Their profession is killing for money. They're not going to wait for authorisation from the Chairman/

This is more realistic but unfortunately based on something that is silly.

On a more positive note: The part about providing tacticians would be good. It's an idea I like .

Alright, so would it work if Central was a fascist state instead?

Noted, I'll be sure to take this one out

Overall, would it work better if these soldiers planned on making a colony of their own on Felarya while investing in the local merc groups?

Locking, since you've mooted a revised version in a separate thread. (I would have merged the threads, but the mismmash of posts would have been confusing.)
