Honestly, I wasn't planning on using the island. I'm really thinking of the mesa being near the landlocked sea inlet there visible in the bottom right corner on the peninsula, with Reya being further north of the inlet and SE of the Mirror Sea. While Reya's method of transportation from the settlement was ballooning so that she could have easily crossed over the island to the mainland, I didn't want the mesa on the island.


I was also thinking about having the settlement south of Stillmoon Pond and north of the island, but the Oloonde Lakelands are currently in development. I would rather utilize a new area or one that is already established and could support my setup. Karbo didn't have any specific plans for the area I had already mentioned from our PM discussion, so I settled on that area instead. Additionally, I entertained the notion of having the settlement on the coast of the Akaptor Desert, NW of Sunfall Thicket where it changes from trees to desert. Mesas are generally desert constructs, but the Akaptor Desert's description didn't lead a lot of credence to the development of a mesa there, and more importantly, it left a large adult predator like Reya with no place to go.


So I sort of handwaved the mesa as a dimensional artifact. The problem with the settlement otherwise would have been large scale destruction, either to it or the area in which it tried to 'land'. I needed a platform, and a mesa worked just fine. I had originally intended on using the mountain chain in the uncharted north, east of the Lakelands, but Karbo said it would be a bad idea to go north.

No one has any suggestions or critiques at this point? C'mon, I know there are some opinions out there, please share them and help me develop and finalize these ideas. If you don't want to post in the thread for some reason than use PMs. I'd really appreciate some feedback, even if it is just general proofreading.

Ion Caelestis seems a bit tall for a human, not even basket ball players are that tall. But other than that I can't say much. The character profiles are long enough to be small novels.

True, but in Felarya you do get taller humans due to them being so healthy and the magic effects

Not really. My character Thane's profile is about double the length of Reya's. It just depends how much depth and detail there is in the character and how much the Author decides to put ion the Bio.

Maybe, but I don't think it makes them grow into fucking giants. He's even taller than Shallandra, a neko, whom are supposed to be taller than humans, and she's only in the 7'

Oh, so there is a copyright on the island? Way to make it public cause I'm using that piece of land for my stories anyway.

Ion used to be shorter, back in the old days when he was just a regular ol' human. For those that have read my stories though, you'll recall that Ion was the subject of a bunch of experiments, most of which fell outside of the realm of legality or ethical treatment.

This is from Triela's description:

Of course, I'll endeavor to add more information in Ion's bio regardless. Human still fits his classification the best though. Also remember that this is a much more advanced and futuristic universe of humanity. The 'typical' height of a human at the time of the Xevian Authority was around 7' tall. Assuming basketball did still exist, then Ion would be right on for a player - and while tall, he would not be a giant. The people in my universe are enhanced, both by genetic manipulation and technology:

If the average size of a human for Reya is 5-6', then she was 25-30' tall at this time (which was my intent). For her to be only 4x the height of the partials, they would have been around 6-7.5' in height.





Also, really? Fighting over land in Felarya? Of course, I can't speak of scale, but if the giant tree is any indication on that map, that 'island' is somewhere between the size of Greenland and Australia, covered in lush and tall forest. I think there is room.

Not fighting, just pointing out that it's stupid for AJ to say "Oh, you shouldn't use this island because someone else wants to use it." Seriously, there's no copyright on it and AJ is just being an idiot.

Meh, I can understand the principle behind the logic. You wouldn't want someone coming along and plopping themselves down right on top of your characters either.

I know several haven't, which is why I included the quotes. Plus, I don't expect people to follow my story so religiously they would be able to recall said information readily like the lines from their favourite movie.

And the place is huge. I only need that island for the south part.

You know, I'll give up the island and go for the lakeland above. Those guys I intend to do has a mining business and it would make more sense if they were near the mountain above.

I never said "don't use it" I said you might wanna talk to him about it. What's wrong with trying to prevent story/location conflicts occurring..?

Also, I confirmed from MSN chatlogs, Durendal is planning to use it.

Sean, as ironic it may seem in the eyes of some for me to call another on their lack of social etiquette, I've tired of seeing you say things such as this. Not only are you blatantly insulting someone-which is wrong in itself- you're attacking AJ of all people, and he's doing things FOR YOU. I can understand if you dislike the idea of an area being reserved for one specific person, but even then that's no justification for openly being an ass about it. While you are intelligent and what you say can have merit in some instances, at other times you display all the worst feasible qualities of a human being; You're arrogant, ungrateful, obnoxious, ect.

Durendal's response regarding the island is that it's fairly open at this point, he hasn't had the opportunity to develop anything substantial though he still intends to at some point in the future. Since I wasn't planning on using it anyway, I don't see it being an issue. 'Till then...


Going to put up some of the Bios on DA, might change some things eventually but without any inputs or critiques from here I don't see any reason to delay it.

That's pretty cool. Although I'll bet there's about a couple hundred specific guilds in negav though. We all know they hate unity
