What lies beyond the portal?

Might be doing things too fast here, but I just want to get the rp going again.


"Heh.. yeah, that'll do i'." He lit another one of his logs on fire. "Alright, let's try and clear a path..." The next one would be tossed toward the direction they'd been fleeing in, followed by a second and third. The first would chain-react the second and third, and potentially throwing part of the Tonorion into the air, but definitely digging a hole into the earth big enough for the group to escape through, if they could make it there in time without any surprises, that is. This was all betting on the hope that their previous attacks had stunned the creature enough for a getaway.

Kain drew a leaf blade of fair size and strange design from beneath his cloak, and charged for the newly made trench. "Move it're lose it, folks." He hacked away any protruding weeds or chunks of dirt as he ran, clearing through the trench and leaving it open as he made it out the other side. For now, that was. The rest would depend on the Tonorion.

The combined attacks of Kain and Seline had disorientated and slightly injured the Tonorion. It wasn't stunned for long though, and as soon as it had realised where Kain had gone, it shifted its body forward to block the trench. Mort cursed as the Tonorion blocked his path. He saw that it was getting ready to swipe at him from the side with its huge front legs. As the leg flew towards him with frightening speed, he knew there was no way he could jump over it. But just as the leg was about to hit him, he collapsed to the floor, causing the leg to miss him by mere inches. As he struggled to get back to his feet, the Tonorion darted forward and seized his right leg with its razor sharp teeth. Mort cried out in pain as it lifted him off the ground and shook him like a ragdoll. He could hear the tendons in his leg rip as he let out another bloodcurdling scream. He hacked at its mouth with his sword, but he couldn't hit it hard enough from his current position. The Tonorion tilted its head back and attempted to swallow him, but his leg was still caught in its teeth. Mort used this oppurtunity to gather the energy for a fireball. It burned with a fearsome black aura as it quickly grew in size. When it was the size of a small room, Mort desperately launched the projectile straight down its throat.

"Eat this!"

You could hear and smell burning flesh as it went deep into the creatures insides. The Tonorion flailed about in pain and in doing so, dislodged Mort's leg causing him to fall a significant height and hit the floor with a heavy thud. He slowly looked up to see that his leg was in tatters. It had even bitten through the plate steel! He hoped that his attack would have taken down the beast, but the Tonorion was far from dead. As it recovered from the attack, it furiously raised its leg to crush what was left of Mort.

(I waited another day to post because I wanted to give Scout a chance to do something )

As scout saw the commotion and was in a little daze as she recovered from the cold of Seline's powers. She then looked at mortis and saw his leg completely rippled and tattered from the beast.

"well this is a shit storm." she said while looking back at the creature giving another attempt to kill Mort.

At that moment, everything was becoming drastically slower around her. She knew this was due to the effects of her Pure mode. with little time to spare. She Created four dupes of her self and told Three of them to commence cover fire for Mort while she was going to save him in his crippled state.

"Fire now!" she said as her dupes replied with out hesitation. This caused the beast to stomp its leg at the side of Mort and give attention to the Firing squad scout created. When the beast was far enough from Mort, she sprinted towards his position and grabbed him over her shoulder. To her surprise, mort was actually quite light for her to carry, giving a physical comparison in her head, she definitely thought mort would be a bother but was actually only a little nuisance compared to what she had to carry on her home world.

While dragging Mort to a safe point. scout pulled pulled out a canister, no bigger then her fist that had white bold letters that said "flash-E type" indicating it was a flash grenade. She threw it between the Tonorian and her Dupes and yelled "Brace! brace!." it was a code for 'take Defensive position. All her Dupes replied by Putting on their goggles and shedding their eyes with there hands as a large and bright flash illuminated the place. Unfortunately, she didn't take into account if Seline and Kain were doing the same thing.

Seline had been quick to put some distance between herself and the grenade, thinking it was a just a normal exploding kind, and make a large shield of ice for protection. She hadn't expected the flash, and even though it was reduced quite a bit behind the ice, it still managed to make her see spots. "May your hive be damned, warn us more specifically next time you do that" Seline roared at Scout, while making her way over to relieve her of Mortis. "Give him here" She said, indicating for Scout to put Mortis on her back. "Let's head for my shelter"

Whew, finally getting somewhere. Mort, don't forget, it's your turn on Homebound.


Kain had disappeared from sight, hiding behind the cover of a tree trunk while he swapped weapons once more. When he reemerged, Kain's blade was sheathed, and in his arms was a weapon much like a rifle, but crafted in a blocky shape. Signs of technomagic were carved and etched all over the weapon, and the faint glow traveling through the runes was a sign that the weapon was operational.

What bolts had Kain chosen this time? With something like a Tonorion, destruction wasn't important... immobilization was the key choice. So, after the flash of Scout's grenade, he'd fire heavy, metal bolts at the Tonorion's joints. They would dig in several inches before activating, flashing blue and white with magic, until the energy within them and around their impact zone was drained.

The effect was a freezing effect that could spread from two to four feet in diameter. He'd be putting down a dozen of these bolts over the course of a minute. Kain's bolts were all aimed at one side of the Tonorion, and if enough struck true, they would force the creature to remain curled up on one side, and largely immobile. If not, then he would have bought them time, regardless... Kain after the group once he was done.

The Tonorion may have been crippled on one side, but Mort had only narrowly escaped being its lunch and it didn't want to give up. It used the unparalysed side of its body to move towards him and Seline, who now had him on her back. It scrabbled forward at a painfully slow pace. It actually looked quite pathetic.

Mort had managed to shield his eyes from Scout's flash, thanks to Scouts cry of "BRACE!" and could now see the Tonorion slowly approach through sore eyes. He decided that he would use the time that he now had to channel what was left of his energy once again. He put out one of his hands, fingertips facing towards the monster and waited. He focused what energy he had left into his hand. After a minute or so, a black aura now covered his hand as it grew in size. Electricity crackled as it reached its limit. It was time to end this.

And then, in one furious cry, arc after arc of dark lightning flew towards the beast. As it coursed through its body, it stopped moving and instead writhed around in pain as the demonic energy ripped its very soul apart. Mort couldn't help but feel sorry for it as the last of the lightning bolts left his hand. With one final screech the Tonorion finally slumped to the ground. To Morts suprise, it was still alive! But it was in such a sorry state. After all the trauma it had endured from the groups combined efforts, it had given up the fight and now lay still on the forest floor at the mercy of its intended victims.

"Not so tough now are you, you... you..."

Whatever insult Mort was about to utter was cut short as he passed out due to the blood lost from the huge gouges and lacerations on his leg.
