Well despite some urban myths to the contrary dogs do see colour, just not all the colours that humans see. Dogs and other canines only have 2 colour receptors in their eyes, whereas humans have 3.

This leads me to conclude that Kensha beasts would have a similar eye due to their similarity to canines. The functions that the canine eye performs for canines would also suit Kensha beasts in my opinion.

This reminds me, since Kensha beasts are still giant wolves, would it be theorically possible for sufficiently civilized -and huge- predators like fairies or elves to tame them?

Ehh, wolves is a bit of a generalization. I think they were described as more Jackal-like in randomdude's stories.

They are likely a very mutt-looking canine race. I don't think it would be good for preds to be running around with Kenshas as pets. We do know that Kenshas are notoriously aggressive and viscious...it is likely that they may just be too bad tempered to domesticate.

After dream-eating someone, would a Nemesis's belly bulge out, or is there some sort of space warping going on. (OTHER than the process of getting the person there!)

Ooops. I had Fenja mention that the Jotun tame Kensha because they are bad-ass like that. This training mostly involves punches to the face when the Kensha attempts to bite the owner. Fenja still misses her Kensha "Flat-Face" back home.

New post for new question.

What species of fairy in Melany? She has purple skin instead of human hues, antlers instead of antennae, butterfly wings as opposed to the dragonfly style.

Or does she just happen to have those series of genetic traits?

I can swear I've heard of faires like that before, with antlers and butterfly wings. Chances are they have a subspecies all their own.

Melany doesn't have butterfly wings. Aya does though.

While on the topic of fairies...

How do they age? Giant predators age slower due to them being more massive whereas humans age quicker since they're smaller, but fairies never seem to be the same size at any two times. What is the scale of their aging? Do they age like humans or like giants? Or like tinies, who I assume age really fast?

My guess is that they age slower, kinda like elves tend to age slower as well.

Q: I am aware that Nekos would feed on tinies and probably small critters as well, but it made me wonder, if they were to hunt or buy food if living in cities like Negav, would they be obligate carnivores?

I imagine Fairies probably age more like humans. It would explain why there are just so many of them. Fairies are easily one of the most numerous of the giant predators. The standard fairy pack is between 8 and 15 members on average.

As for tinies, ehh...Im not sure they should age that much faster. Maybe just a hair, but they probably reproduce quicker. Lower pregnancy durations and such.

Quote :

Only the giant versions age slower. Human-sized Elves, Nagas, Dridders...and even other pred species like Nekos and Inu age more similarly to humans. The longer maturation time is meant to be a drawback to being giant.

No species of predator, giant or tiny, is an obligate carnivore. They all are omnivorous to some degree.

A neko wouldn't be able to buy tinies to eat in Negav (well, maybe on some kind of black market deep within the low district or The Pit), and hunting them within city limits would probably not go over well with the human residents. They already distrust non-humans because of what their giant cousins do. A neko openly eating a tiny within Negav is asking for a LOT of trouble. Its a rough town, people get hurt, or even disappear there...

Now, the satillite settlements are probably a different story. Nekos are the majority of the population in Nekomura, and the Matomo Docks are home to a large population of human-sized Nagas, Dridders, and other non-humans. Hunting and eating tinies within those settlements and their surrounding regions is likely looked upon with much less distaste. A human isn't going to like it if he witnesses it in any of those places...but it isn't a human city like Negav, so there isn't much he could really say about it.

Was that ever confirmed?

I thought it was generally assumed. Only the giants age slower. A giant/giantess is going to age slow, but a human ages like..well, a human. Same principle should apply to all other humanoid species as well.

And yeah, if you got the money, you can probably buy just about anything in Negav.

Well, I thought it would be neat if Nekos were at least predominantally carnivore. Maybe they eat some plant matter, but if given the choice, they'd almost always pick meat. Just thought it would link well with the part feline/felid thing. And yes, I actually checked wikipedia about distinction between a feline and a felid.

For cats of all sizes and nature, I believe it's instinct. No matter how domesticated the house cat gets, it still can act like a big cat going out to hunt. If it prefers meat, it could be more down to instinct than anything else in my opinion.

Question: If I where to fall into the Akaptor desert, and stand there for 24 hours would I technically fall onto myself. Time paradox, seeing as it's yesterday there apparently.

Er, no, the Akaptor Desert is "yesterday" in a more general sense - it is an area that has a connection to the far off past of Felarya, the barrier to which can be breached by stepping onto the sand. (Though this is dangerous and ill-advised.) The only way you could fall onto your self would be to somehow survive in the desert for millennia after falling there, up until the day when you fell in the present time-stream.

Yeah, I can verify this as I've had two cats. They often acted so big and tough outside the home, but they were practically pushovers in the home.

Guess they gotta vent those instincts somewhere.

That's an.... odd concept. But I can still grasp it.

Funny that Felarya never fails to surprise me with these new zones I never took time to look into before.

Would Dryads be scared of thunder given they're trees, and trees do not mix well with thunderstorms?

Trees and dryads would like thunderstorms. That usually means rain. What you mean is, would they be afraid of lightning?

Aren't we all? Getting hit by lightning would suck no matter what you are. A dryad would though have the disadvantage of being really tall and not very mobile. But there are lots of really big trees in the Felaryan forest and its likely they would take the brunt of it.

Only if there was a lone, tall dryad in the middle of say, the Rocky Fields. Then, yeah, she would probably be afraid of getting blown up by lightning.

Got a question. Smile

Could not find the information that I was looking for on the wiki or here so I thought to ask. When it comes to the Dridder forest south of Supprozad Ruins what type of Dridders would be found in that area.

Thanks!

Giant ones.

It would appear that the Dridders down in the dridder forest are more organized than those living in the jungle. They live in tribes, and do create tools, armor and even weapons from themselves.

In all likelyhood, they are the leftovers and descendants from Sineria's Dridder Empire. She tried to challenge the Guardians directly (and was powerful enough to actually make a good attempt at it), and they brought down the hammer on her. Her kingdom probably scattered, and its people reorganized into the many small tribes we currently see today in the Dridder forest.

There's also the Mansion...
Quote :
There is a rumor that somewhere, deep within the forest, stands a majestic mansion. The structure is beautiful and its quiet, flourishing garden make a striking contrast with the eerie air of the surroundings. A magical force field forbids any access to the mansion and the incredible power of this protection leads many mages to wonder who exactly inhabits this place. The local dridders either frown in anger when they see it, or ignore it entirely, adding even more to the mystery.

Personally, I think that mansion is where Sineria currently rests. Like Demechelle, they may have just decided to seal Sineria away forever instead of outright killing her. Maybe use her as an example to any other powerful Dridders that may decide to try what she did. The fact that local Dridders look at this place with anger, or try to ignore it supports my theory that Sineria is sealed away within that mansion.

Just my own theory though =P I don't think anyone knows if Sineria was sealed away or killed, and if she was sealed, I don't think an official resting place has been given.
