I think Stabs will be a good moderator. (Congrats by the way)
I've known Stabs for a while and talked to him a bit. I've seen him help people like luke112, he seems fairly level headed.
But I think that people should know that is that Stabs' time is always limited. As people who have known Stabs for a while are already aware, Stabs accesses the internet from a net cafe or similar establishment. If we suddenly require moderators to be online more often or online for a long period of time as a once off for whatever reason, it's very unlikely and even unreasonable that he do that. We can't expect it of him. He's not online as much as other people just because it's inconvenient and expensive.
I'm not sure if you were aware of that Karbo. If you weren't, then I'd say that you should discuss these type of things with other people at greater length.

Not all moderators are going to have the same capacity. This should be taken into account when deciding how what the sufficient number of moderators is. I don't want to see this forum become under-staffed again. It never leads anywhere good.

Five moderators (Karbo included) seems sufficient to compensate for times when one or two aren't around.

At least until I inevitably get my job back. Then we'll be sitting at 6, including Karbo. That's a nice, even number.

Karbo has said that he doesn't really want mod duties.

And you can't count timing2 as a mod since he is only seen here once in a blue moon.

We have three mods, who all have admitted to having difficult schedules some or all of the time. That's not a terrible thing.... but it should be considered.

When I first read it, I didn't take it to imply what you seem to be taking it to imply. On second reading, the wording is indeed somewhat clumsy, but I don't think it was intended to be insulting towards... well, all of us here.
