There's already things like a Fried Gloutex restaurant and a strip club, but these are simple. Are there any other establishments in Negav? Maybe making use of the magic? (Like 'lazer tag' with harmless magic bolts, perhaps? Manipulating terrain with miniature golem armies in simulations...?)
I know this isn't the longest post but I want to get ideas out there :3 Like the two I've listed, simple enough.
Magic Tag: Set in a small arena, contestants are given a wooden staff/wand depending on play style - the longer staff goes farther but is obviouslty clunkier in the maze itself, the wand is fast but the bolts don't follow targets as well - and are set on two teams, Red and Blue. Contestants are released into a large maze, modelled after various architectural styles from medieval stone to Renaissance styled marble, to World War 2 type bunkers and interior space ships/wooden galleons.
Magic bolts fired from the instruments are harmless, colored according to their team, and are slow enough to be dodged - to avoid 'first to shoot first to win'
Being hit by a bolt of the opposite team changes the coloration of the team robe the person is wearing to a bright neon yellow, as a simple way to inform EVERYONE that the person is out, and to avoid cheating.
The cannons, railguns, and machine gun nests found in the varirous styled buildings all fire the same thing, small balls of the same energy used above - teams must capture small posts within the styled buildings and interiors to switch the emplacements to their side - that explode upon contact, in a dazzling show of red/blue particles.
The wands and staffs could be styled differently, or change depending on the scenery one is in, depending on how luxurious the owner of the place is. It could remain set to a single style- muskets and flintlock to bolt action rifles and sub machine guns - or constantly change. Though liberties are taken in the modelling, so that one doesn't have to risk having their hands trapped when style shifts occur. The use of illusion magic is used to achieve this.
Alternative #1 : The Wands.
Wands could instead be 'blades', the user having a rubber grip while illusion magic forms different swords colored to the person's team - much like the 'firearms' switching style.
Alt #2: Damage System.
Instead of one hit one kill, taking hits could instead color different areas of the robe yellow. Get fully colored in yellow, you're out. Could allow participants to play for longer to avoid having to wait fro rounds to end.
Optional #1: Warnings.
"WARNING. Extended play without rest could result in - loss of vision, hallucinations, mental damage, blood lust, and an irrational fear of the color yellow."
Illusion magic on the untrained mind for too long without rest may result in these
