Angel Nagas

An Idea I had while working on Records of Neo New York.
An angel naga is human-sized, and looks like a normal naga. They spend their lives like normal, human sized nagas, usually in cities, and don't show their powers or true form until they are "killed". Then they sprout angel wings and a halo, and gain special powers(think pit, only without the weapons). However, untill this time, angel nagas have no knowledge of this other form or the powers, and will usually go their entire life without knowing that they are anything other than human-sized nagas. Once changing to their true form for the first time, they can choose to stay like that or go back to normal, after which they will truly die the next time they are killed. Keeping the angel form, however, grants them immortality to any unnatural or disease-related death. It doesn't, however, increase their lifespan, and when their pre-determined time is up, they will die naturally, regardless of the original cause of death should have been.

Angel Naga just seems... strange. Good concept, but strange.

People would easily catch onto this, though. Naga's tend to grow pretty quickly pretty fast. A Naga that permanently settles in a Human / Neko Settlement for several years without any real size change is quickly going to be noticed.

True. I didn't think of this because My OC Sabrina actually lives in a universe parallel to our own, where human-sized nagas and dridders are normal. But am I really the first person to suggest human-sized nagas of any species?

no there not unheard of just uncommon. as well, giant nagas spend the first 6 months to a year of there life about human sized before they have one heck of a growth spurt^^

Well no, the naga tribe north of giant tree in the map is actually human sized ^^
what is giving them this power ? are they parent with angels somehow ?

Also, I think these angel-naga are a crosbreed between the respective races, similar in nature to the mist elves. Did I guess correctly?

I don't think it's a cross-breed, it may just be a rare mutation. Otherwise, unless he or she were orphaned, the angel naga would know of his/her hidden power.

I really like the idea of a race of nagas having wings though!

Katrika was human sized when she arrived in Felarya and would have stayed that way except for a crush on a certain blue-tailed naga!

The only thing an angel naga can't survive in either form is being crushed. Steamrollers, falling rocks and those areas of video games were walls and cielings crush the character cause instant death. There was actually something else, but I cant remember at the moment...

Anyhoo, I agree with Zoekin, I like the idea of a winged Naga, it gives them a bit more variety...let alone more manuverability

That's one of the things I like about Nksrocks's character Quetzal! Not only is she a VERY cute demi-god with enormous power and a GREAT personality (party with her sometime) but she's a naga with wings! (sorta)

Seriously though, I imagine that a naga with wings would need some serious help to fly properly. Their tails would create quite a bit of drag when in the air.
(No offense to the ladies but a naga's tail weighs quite a bit! Although Katrika's eaten everyone who tried to weigh her to date. I dread the idea of asking Anna what her weight is.)

Next time I see Quetzal I'll ask her how it all works. She's a good sort.

And yet again, it is proven that Large Amounts of Chloroform can help answer ANY problem.

Problem is soaking a large enough rag in such and dragging Anna to a scale in time before you yourself succumb to the fumes.

To do such, we'd need a person who smokes, and one of those truck scales.

Place him on the scale, and Anna will practically sprint to it.

Cigarettes: Now aviable in instant death format.

Um-have you ever tried to force a giant naga to do something she doesn't want to do? Let me show you my x-rays sometime.

However-if you offered Anna enough giant ciggarettes she might agree to help. She's not completly unreasonable.

Other than that, you'd have to find someone willing to grapple with Anna and hold her down long enough to apply the cholorform. Who do you know willing to do that?

Why do I feel that your main priority with a drugged Anna doesn't involve a scale, or any other tool of science?

Seriously though-I suspect most winged nagas would be more than just flesh-and-blood beings. Either that or have a lot of magical help to fly properly.

I really like this idea though. I suppose if Quetzal was to form a small faith dedicated to her worship then maybe her naga clerics could grow wings as a sign of their faith?

As for weighing a giant naga-Crisis might agree if you bribed her with enough food. Or Rin would if you asked her nicely enough. I know Katrika would agree if Anna asked her.

Weight is not important, what matters is that you feel good to be you and that you are healthy. Besides, it would actually be better to weight a human sized Naga since we can more easily estimate the weight/size ratio. And anyway, they are sentient, their weight is relative to every individual.

I rather liked the idea of parking Crisis on a truck scale though. (sigh)
Of course it would be a good idea to weigh several nagas to get a more complete idea of their average weight.

However-I stand by my earlier viewpoint. Winged nagas are cool. I'd like to see more of them. I was lucky enough to get to work with Quetzal and her wings opened a whole new aspect to her character. She could travel quickly from place to place avoiding many of Felarya's predators. (Of course being able to zap them with the full force of divine lightning gave me a huge charge too!)

But seriously.

Winged nagas is a reality that can (and likely will) happen.

You ever seen a harpy before? They are some heavy creatures, especially when carrying prey (from humans to full size nagas).

If worse comes to worse, you could always use their tails as a propeller.

While carrying prey is obvious, I'd think Harpies are relatively light and 'brittle' in terms of weight and durability. Most avians have 'hollow' bones, and who's to say Harpies don't follow?

And using a tail as a propeller... ah yes, Felarya uses Anime Physics. Keep forgetting that.

That's just too silly. But the mental images I'm getting are hilarious.

...Would they be able to hold their tails out straight while flying? Cause if not, they would look very funny as they flew through the air like an upside-down L.
